ZG-2101 and the rest of ZG Corps where inducted into the Stormtrooper program as children and subjected to intense training and propaganda to forge an unbreakable loyalty to the First Order. During training, ZG-2101 developed a strong preference for heavy blaster type weapons, particularly the Imperial issue T-21 heavy blaster. His preference for heavy weapons in conjuction with a notable aggressive streak made ZG-2101 a deadly combatant, and breezed through even live-fire exercises. However as an unforseen side-effect of the intense brainwashing, ZG-2101 has a nagging paranoia that those around him might be traitors to the First Order, among other seemingly irrational beliefs.
