Originally founded as the Zaibatsu Mechanized Group (the now renamed Thrune Commercial Combine Mechanized Group ) in a small start up specifically for the manufacturing of vehicles and repulsorcraft to be utilized by the Thrune Commercial Combine- specifically those individuals acting on their behalf as collection agents. The company itself does not sell its products to the public - as they maintain a perpetual contract with the Thrune Commercial Combine to keep that company and its subsidiaries supplied with vehicles for corporate use only. To this end they are not as many other companies - with some ruthlessly ringing out profit where they can - as much as they are a more benign corporation; as it only exists to product a specific product for a specific company.

The Zaibatsu Mechanized Group was set up to ensure that those individuals that are acting on behalf of Sorenn-Syrush Zaibatsu or its subsidiary Zaibatsu Banking - in their roles as collection agents - were protected with the most up to date military vehicles. Sole intended to provide vehicles only for Sorenn-Syrush Zaibatsu and its corporate holdings - the company focuses only on that specific goal. Unlike other companies that may find their products in the hands of the public, military institutions or other similar organizations, the only way that a Zaibatsu Mechanized Group product is in someone's hands - that aren't specifically given permission or in some way affiliated with the parent company Sorenn-Syrush Zaibatsu or Zaibatsu Banking - is due to such a vehicle being stolen.
Since the death of Amelia Sorenn-Syrush and the fall of House Sorenn-Syrush - many of their former corporation holdings have been rapidly seized and consolidated by the newly risen (colloquially known) Thrice Damned House of Thrune - otherwise simply known as House Thrune. In a bid to further remove the name, House Thrune has begun to rename many of the formerly held Sorenn-Syrush companies by adding the Thrune name in their place.
