Shaken but resolute. He could feel the determination of the officers on the deck, the gunners at their stations. Each one performing their tasks to the best of their ability - all for the glory of the First Order. For friend and family in the safety of their homes, a future for their children. Sieger could feel every one. Not just aboard the Wrath but within the shattered hull of the Concordia, the bloodied nose of the Pellaeon, the malevolent weapon that was the Colossus. One stood out. A sudden heartbeat stood still in time as the recognition settled in. She had come.
w8SZ94h.png
His attention had been drawn, his focus broken from overwhelming the enemy resistance with a measure of hate so powerful it could drive men to self harm. It would take time to refocus, time they didn't have. Sieger had seen the readouts on the screen indicating the dire situation in which the Concordia found herself. More than this, he felt the cries of agony and anger from the ancient Sith meditation sphere aboard. A vile presence in and of itself, but dormant except for its desire to survive the battle it found itself embroiled in. *That is not what you seek.* a silent voice echoed through the Supreme Leader's mind, reminding him of his intent.

"No, it isn't." he muttered.
He stood there, silently facing the void as he watched the battle rage on. The giant creature that had assaulted them only minutes ago hung there, perhaps rendered unconscious by its own attack against the hardened hull of the Wrath. The tactics of naval combat were never a strong suit of the Supreme Leader, it's why he had good men, wise men arranged around him and in charge of large scale operations such as this. Grand Admiral Tregessar, Grand Admiral Rausgeber, the newly inducted Cardan - they served him and the First Order well and though the situation appeared dire he had faith in those men. Those men, and one woman in particular.

A hiss from the rear of the bridge drew the attention of several officers, glancing up at the intrusion before recognizing the Grand Moff and turning back to their work. Sieger remained unmoved. Her voice sounded strange to Sieger, awash with emotion and perhaps a hint of... sorrow? The woman had known hard times and to say she'd had an easy life would be a lie, but this seemed something else. It weighed heavy upon her shoulders. A discussion for another time. In a moment's time she had noticed his presence at the front of the bridge, her words stopping short.

"You are a sight for sore eyes. I -- "
With a measured turn Sieger moved to face the woman, his feet closing the distance between them as an uncharacteristic smile spread across his features. It was an unusual feeling which grasped at him, compelled him to break the often statuesque facade he projected. Perhaps it was his own brush with death, or partly due to the strange and shifting tides in the Force but he was relieved to see her.

"Grand Moff Fortan." his voice hung in the air for a moment. "I am pleased to see you safe aboard." Gently, he extended a hand, imploring the woman to come closer. "Grand Admiral Tregessar, see this battle ended."

Not Joza.

Internally Elian nodded to himself.

Good, it said to him, better if it wasn't. The why behind that thought was a mystery to him. A receptor attaching to a thought process without any real basis to it. Just filling in a blank that was fraying at the edges, trying to give him clarity in the moment. The will to continue with the mission as it was mandated, which meant destroying anything that was in his path, up to and including just a girl. That clarity was shattered when she clarified and spoke her name.

Yula.

It echoed through his skull, vibrating with its weight and Elian blinked.

What should we call her, then, eh? All I ask is for something easy and short.... easier to remember. The smirk at the end of that. Yula? I dunno, dun' think ya mom likes me all that much though. Then again it is easy to remember, so why not?

Another blink and Elian was back again.

"Little mynock?" It felt like his jaws were stuck together with glue, making it difficult to say it. As if he was reaching out through jell-O and trying to grasp at something that was no longer there. It was the name that a different man had used for a small child, at her delight... but at the scowl of her mother. Suddenly that blaster reared back up again, firm, the eye of hazel bloody and vague. From Yula's position it might have looked as if he was about to shoot her.

She wouldn't see the other stormtrooper approaching quickly from behind her.

Neither would she realize that Elian was, in fact, aiming at them. Trying to squeeze the trigger and kill them... finding himself unable to with the conditioning too strong.

Look behind you, look behind you, look behind you, look behind you, look behind you, look behind you.

Elian couldn't say the words.

Even here [member="Irajah Ven"]'s hold over him was too strong.

Split the party. The worst thing you could do, but people had their own paths in life. Their own destinies they needed to fulfill. And now? Coren had sent his apprentice to ready the ship so that part of his story could continue. That the Alliance would live on. He knew he was as much of a part of the Alliance framework as [member="Jaius Sovv"] but for now? He had a duty to the people on the planet. Making the way with his Jedi strike team, and the Confederates in tow, should they need to be, he heard the call from Jaius that they were late. Arriving in the hangar, he nodded to his leader.

“Sovv, we had to pick up strays. Now, the ship’s awaiting, if you’d be so kind.” Coren turned, ready to block any bolts that came at them from some not frightened and probably foolhardy stormtroopers. It didn’t matter. Starchaser was the Sentinel, the Watchman of the Shattered Order. The Force gave him strength, and he was currently, literally aiding in building a wall of the Force to protect those in this palace, with other Jedi, and allies. What were some stormtroopers going to accomplish against him?

He looked to Romi and nodded to the ship. “Get them out of here.” Looking around the hangar, there were definitely a few ships that he could fly. Grinning, he grabbed Romi’s arm, giving her a kiss before nodding up to the cockpit of the ship. Mishel and the pilot were there. The words from Jaius hit his ear and Coren spoke, loudly, calmly.

“I’ll save them all.” He reached into the Force. He could feel the Jedi meld, he could feel the Force being swirled for the protection of others. “Now go!”

The Jedi Watchman, Paladin, Crusader, understood what needed to happen. He was not going to survive a fight with [member="Darth Carnifex"] and the Betrayer, [member="Taeli Raaf"] to just die at the hands of a lesser nation. He was sending his energy to the Force, to the barrier that was being created, the one that would buy everyone time to escape. His eye was on that starship, his backup plan. But he knew he didn’t need it. The Alliance in Exile was strong, and her Jedi were continuing to unite the light in the galaxy.

Protect those that needed it.

Assist those they could.

And provide hope for all.

“Little mynock?”
That sneaking suspicion, that little flicker of hope caught fire with only two words. Part of her wished that I hadn’t, given how she’d spent her entire life wrestling with the issue, but now there was no doubt.

Yula’s head swayed, fighting with her injuries and blood loss as this all started to come together. The voice, the lines of his face (what she could see of it anyway), everything. Maybe subconsciously she was reaching too hard, trying to make connections that were not there. But she could not and would not turn away from this chance.

Green eyes widened to the size of saucers as he leveled the blaster at her once more and a mixture of confusion and disbelief left her lips. “Papa…?”

Her birth father hadn’t been around. Only for the first few years of her life, a time before a child’s memories solidified. But there were snippets that Little Mynock remembered. Maybe they’d changed over time, casting a rose tinted shadow whenever she looked back on them. They were precious, equally so as any physical sign of her father had been. There were only a few photos, something about how he didn’t like having his picture taken. Her mother tended to shift her attention elsewhere whenever questions of her father came up.

Yula stayed still as possible, heart beating so loud that she swore it would burst. Was he going to kill her? Why was he here in the first place? Why did he leave? Why did you leave us?

By the time her senses picked up the presence of something, someone behind her it was too late. Yula turned, a laborious effort only for a blaster bolt to lance through her shoulder. She gasped in pain, landing unceremoniously to the ground with a heavy thud.

Darkness started to creep into the edges of her vision and her heartbeat slowed, her body’s unconscious attempt to stop the blood loss. It couldn’t…not like this. Concussed? Yes. On the verge of passing out? Of course. Confused in an emotional tidal wave? Wasn’t every teenage girl.

But she would never go quietly, not as the First Order rained fire down on the planet, not with her estranged father standing behind her. Maybe he’d have the honor of putting one between her eyes.

Pink hands came up, shaking and dirtied. They pushed, sending a wave of Force towards the trooper who’d shot her, anything to push him back and away. Maybe knock him out or even break his neck.

It didn’t matter, not when the darkness closed in. Through her pinholed sight, Yula saw the sky lit up with flashes of color as imperial attacks struck either their targets or the barrier. “Papa…how…?” How could you be one of them?

Her hands dropped to her sides, eyes drooping closed and body going limp as the pinhole closed.

It was about that time. Azula expected the furballs would use that time to try and retake the security room. In that time, she reprogrammed the remaining security droids throughout the starport. Soon, the ones who were not within the enemy's sight would begin moving towards the lockup off the starport. There, all kinds of contraband was locked away after being confiscated by Metrobig security. Anything from illegal weaponry, drugs, and artifacts. It wasn't much but it was just enough to count as payment for Azula's services to the First Order. She didn't expect much of a pay from them considering she wasn't human, so this was her backup plan.

Easiest money she ever earned.

The droids began loading the contraband onto a decent freighter that was docked in the blastport by some unlucky soul. Whoever they were, they picked the wrong time to come to Skor II. Squibs attempting to stop the droids ran into some hard blaster fire from both the droids and sentry turrets in the area. Azula gave them a choice, and boy did they choose wrong. The cargo bay of the freighter was almost full. Azula took a brief moment to look at the cameras and noticed something awry. The woman from before had gotten her hand son a turret. Typical of an interloper to continue to fight against the unstoppable tide. As the woman aimed the turret for the door Azula was safely hidden behind, the lyrkon reached for the detonator in her pocket.

One shot at the door broke it down. Azula underestimated the power of the turrets. That or the strength of the door. Then, one press of the detonator. Explosions throughout the facility began to go off. One strategically placed explosive blew a hole into the wall of the security room, opening a pathway to the exterior where her chariot awaited. Azula jumped out as a second shot from a turret came at the room, but the resulting incredible amount of power from the turret blew her out of the room a bit harder than she wanted. she was sent flying to the ground, hitting it rather hard. Luckily for her, her armor took much of the hit for her. Kinetic gel was a godsend. She'd have to thank Khonsu for that one later even though she truly did not want to admit he was right.

With the control panel out, the droids continued on with their previous directive: load the ship and protect Azula's haul. Azula pushed herself off the ground and ran to the inside of the ship, finding her way to the captain's seat.

A quick escape was favorable at this point.

The Command Bridge, FIV Anastasia

The naval battle was going fairly well only a few variables had been brought up, but they were easily solvable. It what was the unexpected that caught Karl Von Strauss off guard. "Sir it seems someone has hacked in to one of the terminals downstairs." Said one of the officers while they climbed out of the pit with a datapad. "They were able to shut down the main reactor. The hack was going towards the bridge, but it seems that the terminal they hacked wasn't connected to the bridge. Just the main reactor... and the ventral power grid." Karl looked at the datapad, he was presently surprised, mostly because it was something he had thought of, but passed off as too crazy, even for the Outer Rim Coalition. "Have we pinpointed the hack's point of origin?" The officer shook his head. "No Sir we haven't, but we have the rough area from which it did originate. It is one of the technician's 'tunnels' in sector thirty-six alpha." Karl pushed in a button on his command chair and a holo of the Anastasia started to swirl around the right armrest. He inputted a few more commands via buttons and the holo zoomed into sector thirty-six Alpha, it was one of the bigger sections on the ship. "I want a full platoon of stormtroopers down there searching." The officer coughed into his hand and said, "Sir the corridors down there are about the size of a single trooper. If I could make the suggestion to cut the platoon down to two squads or a half-platoon that would be more than sufficient. Of course, we would have more troopers on standby." Karl looked the young officer up and down and replied, "I will take it into advisement. Now Lieutenant Commander deploy the stormtroopers that I requested, but have half of them on standby, like the Ensign suggested."

One of the entrances to sector 36A
One of the majors of a stormtrooper battalion on the Anastasia collected a full platoon of his best men and sent them out. The echoes of their boots hitting the metal floor as they jogged to the sector where the hack began. It was a large area, but very limited space in the corridors themselves. Once the platoon was split into two groups, a search group, and a reinforcement group, the major contacted Captain Von Strauss. "Sir, we are ready to begin the search, shall we commence?" The blue hologram of Karl sitting in his command chair, flickered for a second as it was projected out of the hand-held holoprojector. "First, if any of your troops find anyone that is not from their battalion or one of the registered technicians, I want them to have the person in front that spots the unidentified person to drop into a prone position, the second person is to kneel, and the third is to keep standing. This will help negate the effect of the small corridors so there can be three guns pointed at the person. No disintegration, only stun unless the intruder goes to lethal actions. Secondly, round up everyone in the nontechnicians area of thirty-six A and have them accounted for and explain the situation to them. Now you may begin." Karl said with a stern voice obviously annoyed that his protection crews did not find an intruder. The stormtrooper major responded with a confident "Yes, Sir." Now the hunt begins.

One of the stormtroopers whispered "I'm tired of the karking rebels on this karking ship, and I haven't even started searching yet." The stormtroopers started going into the corridors of sector 36A from several entrances in groups of three. The stromtroopers were careful, but anyone with keen ears could hear the faint echo of the troopers boots as they crept further into the slim corridors. The forward trooper in each group was in a slight crouch so they could goe prone quickly should they find the intruder. The other troopers of the platoon were trying to cover the multiple exits of sector 36A.

The Command Bridge, FIV Anastasia
Captain Von Strauss lifted the command chair's communicator and looked over to the XO before he spoke into it. "I want all sectors except thirty-six A to hear this." The XO nodded and walked over to another panel on the wall and flipped a few switches on and some off. Once he was done he turned back around. "Sir, it is ready." Karl tipped his head toward the Lieutenant Commander, then spoke into the communicator. "Men and women of the FIV Anastasia, we have an intruder on board in sector thirty-six Alpha. This ship is at yellow-three alert. Have every ID in your operational sector scanned and accounted for. Anyone that doesn't have a correct ID from your sector of the ship is considered hostile, but use stun just in case that some shiny wanders out of his operating area. Thank you that is all." Karl set down the communicator and took a swig from his flask. Now another battle begins one of attrition and outsmarting.

What was left of her shattered command was still a decent core group of vessels.

"Ma'am Chief of States beacon is going off."

She had a choice now. Stand and fight, possibly til the last of her command, or move back to her own lines, to survive. Survival seemed optimal, though the thought of abandoning the progress they'd made on the enemy pained her dearly. There was no choice. When the COS was in danger, regulation and protocol clearly dictated what must be done. The First Order thought them lawless, but nothing could be farther than the truth.

Silara Varis was law.

"Very well. XO all vessels turnabout. Release reactor core safety on my personal authorization. Kilo-Echo-Quentin-six-six niner. XO your turn...."

Where once the man would argue with her, this time the young Captain simply nodded.

"Aye release reactor safeties."

"Helm fire thrusters 200 percent."

"That's double percentage, will give us thirty seconds of hard burn til we blow them."

"Give it twnty nine, let inertia carry us the rest of the way. Scramble the Combat Air Patrol for an escort. [member="Coren Starchaser"] and the Chief of State will be flying out shortly, I aim to receive them."

"And the fight?"

"Our command is whittled and inept. Our escorts will break away to remain with Admiral [member="Mazik Stazi"]. ANS Resolute Vengeance II and the Jast Elite destroyers will exit the battlespace with the utmost speed. Now make good."

"Aye Ma'am, underway."

They turned, they burned hot, blowing coolant lines and streaking faster than ships that size should have. All the while their flanks were raked with the enemies broadsides, adding turbulence to the creaking and groaning of the superstructure under intense gravitational duress.

"Estimate time to orbit ninety seconds Ma'am. Scrambling escorts now..."

And now for the really fun part. while the reactor had been somewhat a success it'd be all too easy to reactivate it. The bridge controls were not on the same network, which made her a little upset.

"New Standing order: Detach reactor clamps and decompress core. Send the reactor out of the ship and into space. Decompress as much as you can actually, cept' this corridor."

She glanced over at her wrist mounted chrono.

Bout fifteen minutes of air. She opened the tank with a few taps, cycled it to refill her reserve and then shut it again.

Faint foot steps were heard farther off, but she felt them before she saw them. They were keen, sharp, like predators hunting a mouse through the foliage. She imparted small mental distractions upon them. A few pings here, a moving shadow there. She pressed gentle but form, trying to distract them and buy herself time. Just in case tiny capacitors whined to life, subtle and near silent.

She prepared a new power, envisioning the end result...

There were no answer.

Either they were all dead or engaged. Rekha did the one thing she knew she could do well began looking for survivors. She had spent this entire time working with the purgills was it a worthy cause?

Some would say yes others would say no.

But who were they to determine life and death anymore. They each made choices that led them down paths either of gold, or ash. She had yet to see a path of gold. She didn't feel cheated though, she felt....alive.

She had followed her own path and done her best, and that was all anyone could ask of another.

Seto Du Couteau, Ren
Equipment: FO-07K Multi-purpose Assault Armor Two Lightsabers
Objective: Pacify the local resistance/Push towards the Palace
Directly Engaging: [member="Itzala"]

The blade glanced off and with a single moment of surprise Seto twisted his right arm and angled his elbow, he bent his knees to generate more power into his physical blow. Seto continued to feed more of his Force power into his whirlwind around him, as it grew in speed and size. Seto flicked off both sabers and clenched his left fist as he drove down his fist to connect into his opponent's head.

Seto noted the attempt for his enemy to entangle his body with Seto's own, but he did not mind any of it, as his armor weighed him down and if his opponent wanted to throw away his mobility for a chance to break through Seto's own better defenses Well, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. His body braced and Seto kept his center of gravity and core tight, it would take a lot more force to bring him to the ground and thanks to their closer proximity Seto knew his own armor could stand up to any punishment.

He also maintained his own element of surprise, he could turn on his sabers at anytime, painful memories of trail and error burned on his body as he smiled at the opportunity to finally test his learned skill in combat.

Unfortunately for the lone First Order Trooper, he barely had enough time to duct but enough of the acid attack struck his helmet and with barely a moment to yank off his helmet the trooper crumpled onto the ground. Perhaps after the battle ended, Seto intended to look into the trooper's survival. Got to survive my own fight first.
