Description: Due to the turmoil that the CIS now finds itself, many worlds are beginning to look for ways to defend themselves. The answer is the XR-25 Scimitar Station Array. The station is well armed and poses a significant threat to enemy fleets. Its array of weaponry and point defences makes it a difficult prospect to approach. It even uses long range ion cannons, that are becoming a staple of CIS fleets, so that it can not be picked off from afar. The power needs of this station are met by two reactors, with one back up. The shielding and guns are each supplied by a reactor and upon failure the platform is severely limited. The strong shields and large amount of guns provide this as the king of defense platforms.
The station has a distinctive design. The outer pylons house a large communications and sensor array. This is used to control CIS space around secure planets and ensure that all traffic is monitored. The stations pylons bristle with turbolaser batteries and missile launchers.
A small number of frigates/corvettes can dock with the station, or a single capital ship. As Assault stations there is very limited crew space on the station, so crew typically wait on their own vessel until transport to the surface is available.
Whilst not refit/repair stations, ships docked to these can have maintenance carried out by a skeleton crew, and repair drones/ships often swarm around the stations.
The station's long range weaponry is all oriented away from the body being orbited. The ventral side of the station is therefore slightly more vulnerable to capital ship attack, but getting destroyers past a picket of these stations is a difficult prospect. Point defences are well spread across the stations.
After the takeover and subsequent release of assets under Ty’rel, Saiba retained the designs and production rights of high priority technology for a fair sum of money.
