STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
+ Adept in jujutsu martial arts and swordsmanship after learning from a young age but also training other cadets in the CSF. Hand to hand combat and melee weapons are Xana’s main choice of assault. Easy to conceal; powerful to administer.
+ Very perceptive, with quick reflexes. Xana often observes and removes herself from any drama to focus on all elements surrounding her, painting a mental picture of every situation possible and how to act at a moment’s notice.
+ Xana is a woman who learns by taking a hands on approach. Nothing phases her, and she will openly take part in any event or confrontation that comes her way. With no real desire to make friends, she finds it easy to play both sides to her advantage and going in at the deep end to leave with the best results.
- Suffers from insomnia and nightmarish visions of the past. Unsure if this is a result of her Force ability or a traumatic childhood, these memories and lack of sleep help turn Xana into a woman with no patience for others.

BIOGRAPHY
Born on Cambria to successful parents; her father a ship mechanic and mother a First Order field doctor, Xana Lau was a much loved daughter. Brought up with a wealth of education and life-lessons thanks to her parent’s stories and experiences, Xana took interest in wanting to follow her mother’s footsteps in medicine and help save lives, excel in studies and learn about the Force which, she was brought up to believe, was only granted to those who were destined for greatness. While Xana was gifted with the Force, she never was taught how to use it, but was told to discover it in her own way, in her own time, through experimentation and understanding of the worlds around her.
However, tragedy struck at the age of 8 when she unfortunately witnessed her older sister, Kona, killed at an open-air dancing concert when psychotic anti-First Order campaigner carried out a senseless attack in protest, who was since detained. It was the first time Xana had seen death and the first time she had seen a life taken away in such a manner, deeply affecting Xana and making her a recluse. It also brought a strain to the household with a grieving family trying to move forward.
The Lau family did move on, as families do, but the memories never left. Xana grew, studied, and became more convinced the Force was nothing but mutated genetics which enabled sentient beings the ability to do things evolution hadn’t yet granted to everyone. Biology played a bigger part in the Force than nature. When it came for Xana to find her own way, there was only one place she could go. With her parents blessing and the promise to help change the galaxy for good, she left for the Deep Core – Coruscant.
With the good word of her family name and reputation of her mother, Xana was placed at the Biomedical Institute on Coruscant to continue her studies. She found work in a cantina serving and cleaning and while she had many good days, she also had bad ones – those with the Force continuing to fight in a show over who was right and who was wrong. The Jedi Knights valued life and what the Force was, while the Sith Lords valued progression with the Force as a tool. Xana saw the Sith Lords as the ones who understood the Force for what it was.
Over the years she continued working and living in the low-level cantina, starting to meet locals and build a reputation as a polite and knowledgeable young woman. She was involved with expeditions to Core planets, learnt martial arts and helped grow replacement organs and body parts for wounded servicemen and women, and equally was involved with the darker pleasures that come out after hours on Coruscant. It proved beneficial in the end as she graduated from the Institute, left the small cantina bunkroom and moved in with a fellow graduate, Henrika.
Xana was on the cusp of finding her way forward in life with her qualifications and personal skills when on an expedition back to Cambria to see her parents with Henrika, she was caught up in another attack. This time between First Order forces and the Galactic Alliance. In the resulting conflict as the Alliance tried to invade, Henrika was killed and her parents were taken into safety by First Order troops. She never saw them again. She saw true glimpses of both Light and Dark that day.
With her obsession taking over and the refusal to accept everything had happened for a reason and she was best alone, Xana claimed her sisters favourite dance mask which she marked with a blood spot and took her father’s katana, giving herself the moniker ‘Switchblade’. With these items she decided to use her qualifications and skills as a weapon for hire, to seek out the bad roots in both Light and Dark alliances and put an end to those who preyed on the defenceless like Henrika and Kona.
The strange pursuit of wanting to use the Force as a tool, mixed with her anger and hatred for many people in general along with her growing interest in dark science and sorcery, Xana became cold and callous due to her irrational feelings and thoughts.
She customized her clothing and never was seen without her mask and katana. Fuelled by a broken past, Xana will do what she promised her parents she would achieve – to make the galaxy a safer place one way or another…
