- Autoloaders for everyone!: Designed to ease the work for the crew, each of the weapons is designed with a series of autoloaders that allow the crew to load the armaments from within the cabin.
- I see you...: Armed with the latest in Sensor arrays, the Thundercat's cabin can see anything from infra-red to night vision, and allows for rapid 360 target location and acquisition.
- Full Rotation: Unlike other walkers, the Thundercat was designed with a rotating cabin and fixed gun, allowing for the Thundercat to return fire quickly after being hit from behind.
- Rebel Net: A specially designed Battle Net system, originally cannibalized from the GADF's old system, has been installed in all Thundercats and Si Tech equipment. This allows the Wild Space Rebellion to relay real time battle data over the secure connection.
- Laser of the Force: The Horn Beam Laser, normally designed to act as a heavy siege laser on starships, has been augmented by Si Tech with the help of the Bokken Order. The mechanism that produces the heavy beam has been imbued with the power of an ionized sheath around the beam, designed to allow the Thundercat to brute force through enemy shields, while also allowing it to still combine multiple lasers into one compound laser, for greater effect on single targets. This allows the Thundercat to act as a massive spearhead against enemies relying on traditional shields.
- Flak Cannon FTW: Designed to deal with heavy infantry with heavy firepower, the side mounted flak cannon is designed to hit hard and fast against flying or otherwise armored infantry. The Flak Cannon can be loaded with a variety of rounds, and doubles as a heavy mass driver.
- Indirect Fire: The Thundercat's many armaments, originally designed to allow the walker to act as an urban clearing walker, now allow it to hit opponents far outside of direct line of sight, sometimes on the other side of the battlefield if need be. Whether it be missiles, mortars, or even lobbing grenades, the Thundercat can act as a mobile artillery platform for ambushes, or assaults.
- Crunchies: This walker is very heavy. Do not get stepped on.
- EMP Resistant: Due to it's internals being wrapped in a reinforced duraplast shell, the electronics are all resistant to anything short of a directed EMP blast.
- Mines? That's Cute: Due to the heavily armored legs, and the space from the cabin, mines rarely dissuade forward movement.
- Sealed Ammo Storage: The cargo bay, which holds the ammunition for the mortars and rocket pods, is sealed behind an impervium door. Should the ammo compartment be hit, the crew will most likely survive.
- Off Center: The main gun is to the left of the cabin, making aiming it a bit counterintuitive.
- Crunch: This walker is very heavy. As a result, it is susceptible to loose terrain.
- Armor Dependent: While the heavy shields are designed to take quite the beating, the main defense of the Thundercat is primarily it's impervium armor. Should the enemy have heavy anti-armor, this could be problematic.
- Power Sink: The Heavy Beam Cannon, while an incredibly effective weapon, does require a lot of energy to fire in sustained fashion. This forces the users to choose between shields and the main gun.
- Only Two Legs: Should one of the two legs be knocked out, the whole thing will come tumbling down.
With the fall of the Galactic Alliance, much of Si Tech's larger projects needed to be scaled down in production. One of which was a favorite of the Hellstompers, the Thundercat. While the walker was a reliable staple of the battlefield for the 34th, it's age was showing with 4 wars under it's belt. As such, with a shift in tactics towards rebel ambushes, the Hellstompers would request a redesign of the Thundercat, to keep it in service.
The result was the model 60, a small tweak to what Rara considered a perfect design, the addition to Si Tech's dip into Force Imbued tech allowed them to create a variant of the Horn Laser that could double as an ion cannon, allowing the Thundercat to quickly overwhelm shielded targets, and smash through imperial walkers of comparable size.
