Appearance:
There are two separate tattoos on his body - one is the number 20, located on his lower abdomen, in big and clearly legible writing. The other, which could be mistaken for a birthmark, is a heart above his left pectoral muscle.
His face is defined by sunken eyes, whose natural colouring is an icy blue, and cheekbones jutting out too far to be healthy, caused by the hunger he had to endure for years.
Backstory:
He became a special investment for the criminals who had taken him. A slave for the rich bastards who wanted a “specially educated” servant. Translation to common: “brainwashed and broken”. In the 17 years since his imprisonment, he was systematically tortured, starved, beaten, isolated, used, and tortured again. All with the goal of making him meek, complacent and unassertive - and that goal was mostly met. He was tattooed with the number 20 on arrival in the facility, signifying that he would be the 20th to endure the mind-breaking slavery of the place, and then locked in a cell. Food was scarce, fights between slaves were brutally discouraged whenever any interaction was allowed, and except for basic skills like reading and writing, which would be useful to their owners, the slaves were taught nothing. And that was his life.
One day, a rich lady from the upper levels sent someone down to the place to select a slave for her. One that would fit very specific criteria, from a handful selected before. Which is when a rigorous physical and mental testing process began, torturing the broken souls even more. Once the servant had settled on a choice, the mistress came down herself to make sure. And make sure she did. After the ordeal, Worm was left with a new tattoo, in the shape of a heart. The mark of that particular madame.
Enduring the trials, then being sent to a new, unfamiliar cell to be handed off awoke something inside Worm. His feelings of disgust, towards himself and towards everything he had lived through, in his mind and his body, locked him in a state he would call “its shame”. Feeling the shame, being unworthy of attention, locked inside the cell they provided, with the tattoo still burning on his skin, he wished he would never be seen again.
When the guard came to pick him up, the cell was empty but for one weak, frightened man. So he left, and raised the alarm. Obviously, the slave had escaped somehow. They had to find him, before he got out of the facility.
They had left his cell door open. That had never happened before. So he walked out, into the corridor lined with other cells. They had monitors on them. Pitiful weak people, displayed on the monitors, were inside. People who reminded Worm of himself too much. People who had to be removed. So he opened the doors, and wrapped his hands around the nearest throat. A soft, weak throat. It collapsed surprisingly quickly under his hands, leaving him to go to the next cell.
The guards were wondering what was happening to their prisoners, but nothing important seemed to appear on the screens…
