Workshop Question

[member="Lily Kuhn"]

I have a question regarding restricted materials, tier 4-6 companies, and tier 6 workshops. The way the current rules read to me, it sounds like anyone, regardless of company or workshop affiliation, can create any technology or vehicle submission using any restricted material, so long as the production value is only unique or Semi-unique. In addition to this, it seems that a tier 4 company or major faction can create a Starship using any restricted material at unique production, with tier 5 companies doing the same at Semi-unique. It then appears that a tier 6 company can create any Factory submission with a specific restricted material at limited production.

Yet the workshop rules seem to indicate that only at tier 6 Des a workshop gain the ability to use a specific restricted material at Semi-unique production, regardless of tech, vehicle, or starship.

My questions are-
Is this the case?
Is this intended?
And what are the intended benefits for tier 6 workshops that do not produce starships?

Edit:
Also, if this is an oversight, perhaps tier 6 workshops could produce Semi-unique tech/vehicles with two (non-alloy) restricted materials?

Yes

Yes, it is a limitation of being a small (comparable to a tier 1 company) manufacturer in size/scope.

There currently are none. This isn't an oversight, there just isn't anything we have came up with to give any other forms of workshops any benefits that work within the constraints of the rules.

This is directly prohibited by our rules and isn't allowed, and it is a bit beyond my authority to change.

The company & workshop bonuses for reaching tier 6 have remained unchanged since January, so this isn't something that happened with the recent company update (if that was why you @Mentioned me specifically). Approaching stuff for workshops is still on my list of things to eventually get done, but I have not yet found anything to benefit other types of workshops.

I'm a bit Rusty on the issue, but wasn't this originally a benefit because it allowed a "skilled specialist" to bypass the dev thread requirements?

That was why I was a bit confused while looking over the different rules. I guess the benefits of workshops went away with the dev threads.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback and clarification.

I meant it's intentional that the limit is semi-unique production. It's not entirely intentional that the benefits were more or less "stripped away" by removing development threads, but it was known that removing development threads would impact companies in this way.
