Intent: To create a new Chaingun meant to be used by heavy troopers on the battlefield and can be used against a multitude of targets.
Development Thread: If Needed
Manufacturer: Riot Industries
Model: WM-3
Affiliation: Open Market (Except to FU's)
Modularity: Straps, tri/bipods, mounts
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Durasteel, blaster components
Classification: Particle Beam Chaingun
Size: Handheld/Stationary
Length: 1.25m
Weight: 23kg
Ammunition Type: 2x Power-cells, 2 Gas Canisters
Ammunition Capacity: 150 Shots
Effective Range: 150 meters
Rate of Fire: Full-Auto (900-1800)
Special Features:
  • Particle Beam Tech: Particle beam bolts are much more unstable than blasterbolts and upon collision with a solid object or energy field will explode violently.
  • Rate of Fire control: A slider has been added for the user so they can control how fast or slow they want their rounds to be fired.
Strengths:
  • Particle Beam Tech: Due to the unstable nature of Particle beam weapons the bolts explode on contact with both energy and solid objects making it useful against Force Users.
  • Rate of Fire: While not as fast as other Chaingun's the rate of fire is perfect for a particle beam weapon.
Weaknesses:
  • Recoil: Considering the unstable nature of the particle beam weapons a decent amount of recoil can be expected from the weapon.
  • Weight: Weighing more than most standard Chainguns it can weigh down on those carrying it.
  • Power Consumption: The power consumption on the WM-01 is insane requiring two powercells and two gas canisters to simply get the 150 shots it can produce.
Description: The WM-3 upon first glance appears to be nothing more than an incredibly basic Chaingun, which while it is in many ways it sets itself apart in others. For one the WM-3 is a pure particle beam weapon, one that isn't used to often on the battlefield due to its unpredictable nature. However, when harnessed could become a great boon to those that know how to utilize the technology. Particle beam weapons are best known for their habit of exploding on impact with any solid or energy disturbance making it perfect for dealing with those in heavy armor, shredding cover, and dealing with the pesky force users of the galaxy that would try to bat the bolts away with their sabers.

One thing that sets the weapon apart from many Chainguns is that there are only three barrels and that the rate of fire is somewhat slower than others on the market. This was done purposely due to the unstable nature of the technology used to produce it. After one mishap that involved the dismemberment of a tester the ROF had to be decreased to at the maximum 1800. However a sliding scale has been added for those who wish to use it which at lower rates can help with the recoil behind the weapon. The weight and energy drain as with all chainguns is immense, but with this one it was taken to a whole new level with the need for two power-cells and even two gas canisters to get the 150 shots that the weapon can muster.

The size and weight of the WM-3 is larger than other chainguns and can double as a stationary weapon if necessary, perfect for being set up for ambushes or on dropships to provide covering fire. This does not mean the weapon can be weilded by one person like other chainguns, but the weight would require an incredibly fit or strong individual to wield it constantly. One thing that needs to be noted is that while the maximum range for this weapon is 150 meters anything past 75 and it becomes nothing but a annoyance to the enemies and has a fraction of the power it did.
