Voss Academy Lawn Garden

It is mid morning, and the sky is milky. The turn of the season is upon Voss and first signs of winter sits on a crisp cool breeze. Today, Masters of the Silver Sanctum gather to train students of the force. Much needed training, something that had illustrated in the recent war, although the members of the coalition had fought well, it was not well enough to stem the tide of darkness that washed over coalition protected space.

The masters are the first to arrive, gathering to prepare for the lessons. Master Coci Heavenshield has section of the gardens all ready for the students that will come and learn from her. Masters [member="Coryth Elaris"], [member="Nima Tann"], [member="Valiens Nantaris"], [member="Saki"], [member="Coren Starchaser"], [member="Connor Harrison"] and Grand Master [member="Thurion Heavenshield"], stand together in readiness for their pupils to arrive.

~ooOOoo~
The master will choose their preparations and location within the gardens. You can move from one lesson to another when you wish, but please tag the appropriate master you wish to learn from (no need to include everyone in the tags). No posting order. And have fun!

Right, he was being a teacher. That was… sadly, not a new thing for Coren. He wasn’t a teacher, he was a do-er. Man of action. That was why he taught classes that were basically labs at the Levantine Astro Academy, exploration, piloting and then the one class room ‘act like you belong’ class. Cosmopolitan, that was the term for him sometimes. Other times? It was soldier. The former Warbird Wing XO was known for a variety of different combat techniques and the biggest one the Silver Jedi that were housing his beloved Frontiers Corps needed to get used to? That was Coren Starchaser was not a Jedi. He was not a Sith. Hell, at this point, the man who trained as a Dark Jedi to fight Krath, Sith and Jedi alike was not anything. He was Coren.

His little section was a combat skill. A Warden of the Sky, but known only to … maybe two people, he was also dabbling in the concepts of the Grey Paladins, only so far that he was not one who used lightsabers often. He could fight to stall someone, but what he was really skilled with was taking down dark siders. Was he dark? Yes and no. He fought for the betterment of beings, but in the most bass-ackwards way. He did what others wouldn’t.

What others were too worried about their dark side points table to do. That was why he was in the Fringe and the Levantines, he did what was needed. And now? He was going to be taking kids on a whole new way to fight the dark side. Using not only the Force, but other tricks.

There was a table, and on that table? Firearms. All manner of weapons, pistols, scatterguns and medium ranged rifles. Sniper training was something different, but these? He could teach these as well as what to do when someone came at you with the Force.

He had limited skill himself, but he could hurl draining blasts and lightning from time to time. He’d teach them how to counter it, and how to best adapt, turn the power against the enemy. Where that power was drawn from, and how to use it without completely going over the edge.

Spoiler: The trick was apathy.

And focus.

If this made the Silver Jedi-Jedi squeamish? So be it.

Coryth, a Master of all things Illusion and Healing. It had been some time since she'd taught a class at all. Only occasionally did she ever find herself a padawan interested in her skillset. In all her years she had four students. Just four. And now here she was, to teach a class.

This one would be interesting for certain. Her plan was to teach a rare skill, Force Cloak. The ability to render oneself invisible to even droids and Vong, in addition to just about any other force user out there was infinitely useful and incredibly powerful, if used properly. Admittedly few people knew of the skill, few still had mastered it to the extent that she had.

Today the tiny redhead found herself eager to train a new batch of students in such a delicate and difficult art. Hopefully a few would have the gift for it, and be able to walk away with an invaluable protection and talent. Admittedly, this was no easy skill to teach or learn but Coryth was here to do her best for anyone would was willing to try.

Saki

Came in like a wrecking maul
The sound of her knuckles and neck popping was louder in the morning while she was looking over some of the things, the case with her gear sitting to the side while she stood there stretching out with a tree giving some shade. Saki let the only visible things on her be the necklace from Matsu with the pale blue crystal she could charge with force energy and the sigil, her shoulder holding the shield they had created while she checked its straps before crouching a little while she was seeing the other and she let out a tight lipped smirk. Oh this was going to be fun.

Kurogan

Padawan Fluffaluffagous!
[member="Coryth Elaris"]

Kurogan walk upon the open field looking around he could see some of the masters arriving setting things up that they need for there class. A wind blew along the area his fur move slightly from it hitting him he could feel the ting of coldness to it, making him smile slightly form how it feels.

He was here for a reason and that's to learn, he heard that some of the masters were going to teach a skill of some sort to anyone willing to learn. The Shistavanen figure that this was the best place to start his force training, there was a few skill he was interested in learning one of them being Force Cloak.

He was told that skill was rare and not a lot of people could do it, that was fine with him all he wanted to do was try and see if he could.. if not he would go on to learn another skill.

Well Théo is not squeamish, except for when he is covered in fish guts. He walked out across the lawn to the area the masters will train. Mama and Papa there too! Which he could not wait to see them in action, powerful they are and so the same power runs through him. He has a healthy slice of both of them in his personality, as stubborn as his mother, but more recently, as he grows up, he is becoming more like his father. But he can't grow a beard yet!

He wears the trousers of a Jedi, but had decided to wear his shirt and Valkyri jerkin, crafted from brown leather of the álk. No saber training today, that sucks, but still there must be something he can learn. But who to choose? Then his eyes fell on a table loaded with weapons, of all manner, his eyes widened. He looked to the master standing near by them, and walked over.

"Excuse me", he began not really knowing the man or if it was him giving the lessons. "What are you going to do with them?", he pointed to the table and the guns.

Realising he had forgotten his manners, something father is keen to teach him, "I am Théo, Théo Heavenshield". he smiled extending his hand to shake. Théo flashed a quick look over to his father, just in case he was watching.

Vassara had read over the manifest for training. One particular ability had caught her eye. For a moment she considered moving over to the Darkside combat table and heckling Coren Starchaser as he taught. But no, being able to disappear was a much better option. In Vassara's line of work she could save a ton of credits on disguises with that skill.

So here she was. No shotgun on her back, no blasters at her hip. Just a lightsaber, and her spacers jacket. Black with red trim.She crossed her arms and leaned back against a nearby tree, quite near where Coryth was, lost in thought.

A couple of voices in the breeze startled her. The student's had begun to arrive. Now was the time then. Vassara made her way to the Master and nodded, extending her hand.

"Master Elaris, a pleasure."

As George entered the Voss Garden as the first day of winter appears. The change in weather brought a new light to the garden making come alive with colours. As he walked through the Garden he could see areas set up already. A table full of weapons sat in one of the areas, George walked over to the table seeing all the blasters and such. That seems interesting.... He thought to himself, but that was not what he was here to train. He heard word of Master Coci training in Tutaminis otherwise known as force absorption. He was quite interested in this and could not wait for the lesson to start.

He made his way over to the area where Master Coci would be doing her training as he sat on the floor cross legged he closed his eyes and waited for it to begin.

[member="Nima Tann"]

Spencer arrived at the beautiful garden where Master Coci had organized a large scale training session for both Knights and Padawans to train and better their skills in many different areas. One of trainings that caught Spencer's eye was the Meditation training held by Nima Tann. From Spencer's understanding it was the first step in learning how to force heal. Meditation would allow Spencer to unlock the force within and be able to control the force. Hopefully leading him to be a skilled healer in the future.

But it was time for the here and now, Spencer made his way over to the area where Master Tann would begin here training. He sat down looking around at the other stations seeing what else was available.

The spacer really wasn’t sure what the other Masters were thinking when they were letting him, of all people, teach younglings about the way the galaxy actually worked, over the way their holocrons and history taught them. The galaxy was a rough place and you needed to work hard and be ready to give it all up if you were going to get anywhere in it. Especially with the threat of the Sith and the Primeval just outside the borders. Teaching a class was simple. You spoke, let them try to understand, and you weeded out those who wouldn’t make it if the class went longer.

The man was definitely not dressed like any Jedi, or Force user. His guard-shoto was ornamental, rarely used and designed to reflect him, made of Corellian bloodsteel and carrying an orange crystal from under the seas of his home world. His other lightsaber, a full saber with the Starchaser family process used to create a synthetic crystal in an aqua color. Leaning against the table, Corellian blood stripe lined pants, gray shirt, black leather jacket, he noticed the Little Viking That Could. How did he know it was Space Viking? He had a cadet who was one.

“Hmm? Do? Teach everyone ways to end the dark siders that have become a problem.” Plenty of dark siders, like [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"], and the others who came out of the Levantine Sanctum weren’t any issue, but the one that were? They that ran around brandishing the red sabers, the dark side and subjugating worlds. Those dark siders, they needed to be put to rest.

“More ways to attack them than those the Jedi will teach.” And yes, Coren spoke about the Jedi like they were some other group. With a plague. "You ever shoot a gun, kid?" Now that sentence had more issues than the writer would like to admit.

[member="Théodred Heavenshield"]

Maybe it was the way he talked, or his trousers with the blood red stripe, or the way he leaned against the table, that Théo liked instantly about the man. Naw, it was the trousers! They look cool.

"I've heard about the darkside, sounds kinda painful to me. Why would anyone want it?, I mean it kills you in the end". He shrugged his shoulders not really understanding the intricacies of it all, but what he did know was, that Sith are evil.

He listened to the man as he spoke about killing them off, before they became more of a problem. His head tilted to the side and regarded him. "Why do you want to kill them?, I mean, why not let the darkside do it?". Théo will be Jedi, but it is the Jedi that seek knowledge from all sources of force and the galaxy that will prevail in the end. Times are changing and Théo is very much the next generation of Jedi that will one day take to the field of battle.

When asked if he had fired a gun, Théo eyes shot around to his parents. Although Mama is .. was an assassin and is very good with the Nightstinger, he is not sure she would permit him to fire a gun just yet. But mother is occupied as is father. He leaned in .. "No, but I want to learn", he said whispered.

What she was going to teach today required a element of space. And so on the edge of the lawns away a bit from the others, Coci had set up a temporary platform. On the side a table with a couple of blasters. "I hope you have your saber with you Georgie Boy", she grinned but did not turn around the face the Padawan. She could sense him well enough now, having been in training with him on missions. "If not you can borrow mine".

Coci turned and watched George seated on the ground. "Focusing? young one? .. good you will need to be focused".

She picked up a blaster and checked the setting making sure it is set to the lowest setting, to stun. Her mind in thought for a moment, she looked over toward [member="Coren Starchaser"], Might need his assistance later ... is .. is that Théo?

"When you are ready George".

Starchaser would’ve been a terrible father had he been around for his kids. He used the Dark Side, he would teach them the finer points of weapons maintenance and the unbridled joy of flying a starfighter into combat against your enemies. War was something that was always eternal, and learning to exist within it? That was needed in life. To exist alongside the darkness, to use it to help those who needed the help, but not get swallowed by it. That was the first concern of any soldier, to know you could go back to a regular life.

Or that you stayed in this life.

“Because, kid, it’s the full brunt of the Force. Sure, the light side and dark side are opposites, with their own… powers, and ways of being used. But you need to understand, you’ve got strong emotions in you, you can use them in the dark side, you just need to have the intelligence with the focus and control, to make it work for you, not the other way around.” Was Coren getting philosophical? It wasn’t hard. Sith used their emotions but they went unbridled with it all. Coren knew how to make it work for him.

“And if we don’t kill them, they’ll be able to cause damage before the Force takes them. For me? I’d rather have the win I can see and feel, than the win that may take time.” Inaction was death. Kid had spirit though. Coren grabbed one of the lighter rifles and nodded. “We can get a few shots in before we begin the actual training here.” He checked the safety and nodded at the range.

He wasn't afraid of Coci. Space Thor though, Thurion was a different story.

[member="Coci Heavenshield"]

Coci walked over to the platform, although George still had his eyes closed he was able to identify her through the force after they had spend some time together on missions. As the Master spoke to him he raised his right hand as one of his lightsabers quickly flew from his belt into the palm of his hand. "I've got it Master." He replied still with his eyes closed focusing on his surroundings. Before he returned the hilt to his belt

Once again listening to the sound of Master Coci's voice George stood up and opened his eyes, looking at the Master holding a blaster. It was going to get interesting.

George once again pulled his lightsaber from his belt into his hand. Igniting the blue blade he concentrated on Master Coci and the blaster. "I am ready Master." He said waiting to see how things went.

It made sense to Théo, to take out the threat of danger the people that use the darkside to hurt others before the force will take them. That would take to long. While hurting themselves they would hurt others and why? just to make themselves feel good or alive? Silly people! They must be full of self loathing to do that, and maybe they should be pitied.

But his words about using the darkside were more harder to comprehend, the theory seemed plausible and mostly likely worked for some, but Théo had to wonder if that was just a cop out, them not been able to make a decision on a path through life that would actually make them stronger, whether they believed it to be the force working through them, or them using the force to their purpose. It seemed like to the same thing to him, just a manufactured point of view to suit the situation.

"If you use a bit of the force from here and a bit from there, is that not a weaker use of the power of the force? how can you tap into it's full strength if you sit in the middle?". A genuine question from a child. "I have felt the force work through emotions, when I wanted something I could make it happen, even if ... it was a bad thing", he looked a little sheepish at this, as if he had confessed an ill deed. But these ill deeds are not grand like those of an adult, more a wanting for a toy or food. Although these things are not denied him, the mind and will of a child always wants more. Théo is no different.

However, Théo watch with full attention as the man picked up a light rifle and gave it the once over. But Coren should be afraid of his mother. Thurion would smack him from Voss to Coruscant and back again, if something happened to him, but mother... the lioness would raw and bare her teeth, a mother's love and bond with a child she has birthed, something far stronger than even the force.

( :p)

The next exercise was designed to warm him up, and make sure his concentration was set on the task at hand. Coci assumed George had the training and ability to be able to block and deflect blaster bolts, and so without warning, Coci fired five rounds toward him. Not aiming to hit him on the first two, the last three however, on target for his chest.

After the final round was fired, Coci lowered her raised arm, reset her stance and fired five more, blazing red bolts echoing through the lawns and lighting up the immediate area.

Once the echo had dissipated, and the near by avian had found refuge else where she paused for him to catch his breath.

"Warmed up?".

[member="Coci Heavenshield"]

With his blade drawn he waited for Master Coci to make her move. As quick as anything 5 blaster bolts flew at George, quick brought up his lightsaber deflecting them away from his being. It was tough, but after the fifth shot Master Coci lowered her arm and gave George a quick breather.

However before he knew it there were more blaster bolts coming straight for George. Unprepared for the incoming bolts George quickly raised his lightsaber to his chest, narrowly avoiding a blaster bolt to the chest George managed to fend of the second round of blaster fire.

"Just like in training Master." George spoke breathing heavily from the test that was. It was tough but George managed to get through unscathed and for this George was happy. Now what was next for this training session.

"Dont be nervous." Ren said to himself while walking towards the location of the training grounds.

He'd probably be the first one there, he almost always was...

Then, out of nowhere, he heard the sound of blaster bolts and a lightsaber deflecting them. He broke out into a run to see what the commotion was about, to his astonishment, everything had been set up, and there were a variety of other Padawans there too.

He gulped and muttered to himself, "People..."

Ren wasn't a socialite, he was downright terrified of others, and now, he was seeing people that he would HAVE to mingle with, it made him shudder.

"No, don't do this Ren, just be quiet, and only respond when spoken too."

He quickly nodded to himself and moved out. His first stop was the Force Cloak station, it had sounded interesting, and he was excited to take it. That was until he saw the behemoth in front of it. A giant wolf. The color drained from Ren's skin, and he quickly moved to another station. There, he saw a Nautolan Padawan and [member="Coci Heavenshield"] training, it looked a little too rough for his taste, so he moved on. He then looked over and saw a Master standing alone, it was [member="Connor Harrison"] an esteemed Jedi Master. Ren shrugged, and walked over to the man. Before firmly rooting his legs to the ground and standing in front of him.

The small Anzat ventured through the courtyard.

The Silver Temple was a fascinating piece of architecture to behold, a memorial in stone to a precursor civilization -- the details of which were unknown even to the Voss. The mountains around them, the valley below, and the city of Voss-Ka on the horizon created a pastoral scenery that was unlike the secluded temples of Ossus or Yavin, and certainly not the Jedi Temple that the Anzati had grown up in on Coruscant.

Pausing as he made his way along where the various masters had pitched their proverbial tents, the tow-headed boy briefly observed Master [member="Coci Heavenshield"] training with a Nautolan padawan. Crossing his arms, the boy tucked his hands inside the sleeves of the sage green robes he wore over a brown tunic.

He'd heard talk that Grand Master [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] was going to be demonstrating and leading lessons on advanced telekinesis. As a Niman practitioner, it went without saying that the boy was always curious about improving his mental discipline. The art of Niman relied heavily upon improvisation, integrating telekinetic applications of the Force into martial combat. And, as the small youngling had little strength of his own to marshal, the Force was often the only muscle he had to flex.

[member="George O Rourke"]

"And just like in training, you are flapping around like a chicken. Don't drop your guard George", Coci's spare arm reached toward the table to summon another blaster to her out stretched hand. As soon as the cold metal hit her palm, she raised it along side and parallel to her prepared arm and began firing once more.

"Economy of effort, save energy and get those elbows in!". Five rounds each blaster fizzed toward him. This time not one was aimed at his body but his arms, under circumstances that would seek to disarm him.

Ok so there was going to be saber training today, but after this exercise .. on with the lesson.

However, this exercise would test the meditation group to say the least.
