With vs Jedi characters

Okay, this isn't a criticism, but a question:

Why do Sith characters gravitate towards the spellcaster style vs Jedi with the warrior/swordsman thing? Not just here but other RP boards, SWTOR and even a lot of Legends materials. Not everyone of course, just a theme I've noticed. What does everyone else think? Again, no hate and no potshots because if you like being a warrior or spellcaster, absolutely cool.

[member="Dune Rhur"] - I can think of a few exceptions to this rule, both current and past. Not gonna tag them, but they are there. They may not use the saber exclusively or to the exclusion or primacy over their space magic, but they use it as much. Exclusivity/saber combat focus is rare, even amongst the Jedi crowd. Trust me, I know.

Well, i'm much more a warrior-type Sith. But I can see what you mean about the Jedi. Not a whole lot of Consulars these days, from what I have seen anyway.

As for the original question I think its becausenof Palpatine mostly. Even Vader used the Force a lot. In the OT, Vader only used a saber when confronted with one and Luke used his all the time. So thats what people RP.

Well, Sith have Sith magic. What do Jedi have? Not much outside of the fairly standard stuff we see in the movies, which I think is because the Light side really can't be used in a directly offensive manner the way the Dark side can.

I think it also has to do with the fact most Sith Force powers are aggressive while most Light Side powers are self improving so even if they did use the force it might not manifest physically as an attack every time.
