Ylik - Outside The "Museum of Natural History."

It was raining outside the museum, echoing off the tall chambers where skeletons and other artifacts hung from the ceiling. Katarine was absorbed in a poster on the wall, but she was keeping tabs on what the museum curator was saying to her partner.

"Is there anything missing?"

"Just a stone that's been here forever. It's not worth much. Fraks me why the thief wouldn't take anything else. Tons of gold in the other room."

"Nothing else missing at all?"

"Nope. We don't really get a lot of crime this way. Surprised the Jedi even showed."

"You are pretty close to silver space. It was no trouble. I'll let you know if I need anything else."

She heard the footsteps as she was approached by her partner. "I don't think this was an ordinary. The thief was after something in particular."

"I agree. Do you recognize this symbol?"

"No. Should I?"

"It seems familiar. I just can't place it." Kat shook her head. She had a feeling she had seen the symbol before.

The spattering of rain fell across the back of his neck precipitating him turning the collar of his worn leather jacket up to repel the drops before they rolled down his back and soaked his shirt and vest beneath the coat. Eyes narrowed as he raised the scope to his face to scan the lower buildings of the museum from his perch upon the highest roof. No sign of forced entry from his lofty view despite the steady downfall that threatened to obscure his vision.

Walking to the ledge he slipped the scope into an interior pocket of his jacket even as his mind flitted from possible exploitation points. As of yet they had not found where the thieves had made their entry or exit, despite a plethora of proof of their crimes within the museum. He scanned the area below him and, seeing none nearby, dropped from the roof. It took a negligible amount of energy to slow his descent so as to not injure himself upon how landing on the duracrete walkway.

Straightening he moved along as though he was just another visitor hastening his arrival to the museum and escaping the rain. Passing through the entrance he moved to the side and ran a hand through his hair sending a cascade of droplets flying from his head. Deigning to leave his jacket on, for it kept the shoulder holster from view, he began walking to where the crime had actually occured.

It was apparent that this was not typical for the museum or even of the planet. The local authorities merely could confirm the theft, but nothing more was able to be done. So that was why the Silvers had received the notification. There were others that were supposed to be assigned yet on his return from completing a by the books job in his typical unorthodox manner he made a slight detour born from mild curiosity and a slight nudging in the Force.

So as he walked through the halls he slipped his thumbs into the vest pockets and entered the showing room where a curator was discussing the incident with two figures, one garbed in traditional Jedi robes and the other wearing a bomber jacket that had seen many, many adventures. Leaning against the wall, well away from any of the museum's displays, he crossed one leg over the other and gave an appraising, cockeyed smirk as he listened to [member="Katarine Ryiah"] speak.

Her partner was not nearly as interested in the poster as she was. After a moment he turned slightly and started scribbling on his datapad. He kept eyeing her sideways, as if not certain what to think of the woman. Perhaps it was the faint glow her skin seemed to give or the way her voice sounded like music. Either way it was clear they had never worked together before and he wasn’t sure what to think of the subtle oddities the woman possessed.

After a few moments Kat smiled, an action that lit the room up and confused her partner even more. “You figure it out?” The man asked.

“No, but we have company.” She turned slightly, her bright green eyes falling on [member="Ellion Corsair"]. Her heart fluttered even now after all this time, a result of the smirk on his face.

“Ellion Corsair meet Hotch. He’s here to work the case.”

“Well I’m one who is. My team is dusting for prints in the other room. A few are canvassing the black market so we can nab this guy when he sells the stone.”

“I don’t think he wants to sell it. At least not randomly. There were lots of other things to take, yet he only took an old stone.” Even as Kat said it she purses her lips in confusion. They needed to find out what the stone was.

Even after all this time he knew what his smile did to [member="Katarine Ryiah"]. The easy smile of his met her's as he pushed off from the wall and swaggered over to the two disparate Jedi. A slow wink was offered Kat as he turned to look at Hotch and extend his hand for the other man to shake.

"Call me Eli."

As Hotch spoke about his team and his personal opinion on where the stone would be found Ellion looked to Kat with a look of exasperation. Seemed like no matter when, where, or even what dimensions, Jedi were the same. Some were laced loosely, others wound too tight, and most could only see black and white. Gods forbid that things didn't go according to doctrine, dogma, and training. He chuckled lightly.

"Good work Hotch, but I'm agreeing with Ms. Ryiah. I think that the thief either got it for themselves or for a specific buyer. But checking the black market just in case is the smart play."

He frowned as he thought about it a moment. Thinking out loud his mind wandered.

"The mandos are taking this system from all reports, so they wouldn't need to steal it. Plus there's not enough craters or bodies for their handy work. The New Republic could have done this, but their operatives aren't this sloppy. The Confederacy wouldn't leave prints cause of their Droid fetish. The Sith would have left more blood and wouldn't have cared about collateral damage.... A rookie thief would have padded his own pockets with other items but left prints. A veteran thief would have stolen other items just to cover up what he was after but wouldn't have left prints. So either it's someone who knows they can't be identified from leaving prints out someone who doesn't care if they left prints. Or it's a crime of passion, an urgency that couldn't wait ...."

He shrugged as he raised his eyes to Kat and Hotch.

Katarine beamed at her student. He had surpased so much of what she had taught him. His wit and skill was considerable before he took the Jedi teachings and she couldn't help but be impressed. Hotch seemed to be as well because he grunted and wrote some more on his datapad as if he was now considering what Eli had just said. Kat looked over Hotches shoulder and frowned as she read the datapad.

"You wrote that they found mine dust around the missing stone display. Do you think our thief could be holding out in one of the mines on this planet?"

"Could be... but those are dangerous to explore. I'm waiting to see if we can get a droid to do that for us. Could be a while though."

Katarine raised her eyebrow at Ellion, as if asking if he was up for it.
