Who cares if i'm Blind?

Rossy sat quietly outside with his Nekarr car Red sitting next to him. Though Rossy was blind normally you could not tell because of his eye color. With a sigh he stood up and looked around for no real reason before he turned and began walking, with Red walking right along side him.

Uther was by himself in the temple courtyard, ducking and weaving between several pebbles that whizzed around him. Ever since Jeela had introduced him to the technique of Ballistikinesis, he had been working on improving his own use of telekinesis. He had emulated the exercise had had saw her doing while training, maintaining as many rocks as he could in rapid rotations as he moved through him. Consumed by his training,he didn't notice the young man strolling around the temple grounds near him.

Rossy Paused as he heard Red make a sound. " Something catch your eye my little friend?" He asked kneeling down and ran a hand threw the tiny Nekarr cats Fur. Red Watched [member="Uther Weiss"] with his bright green eyes as Rossy stroked his back.

Even while he now had an audience, Uther remained consumed with keeping the pebbles in constant rotation. Faster and faster he sent the pebbles until they were just a blur of grey streaks around him. He was able to maintain that furious pace for only a few moments though before he felt himself slipping. It was always the same, he would starting moving the pebbles fast enough until he started consciously thinking about what he was doing, and let doubt interfere with his concentration. Having only just acquired the ability to wield the Force, he had about three decades worth of habits to unlearn from being a non-Force user in order to fully realize his power.

He decided to take a break, gathering all the pebbles in a pile beside him, then taking a seat on the floor as he sipped from his water bottle. No longer training, payed more attention to the the beings he had detected at the periphery of his senses. A boy with some sort of smalle tusked feline. Curious about the creature, he waved at the boy to get his attention before he approached him.

Red loved people and loved attention. seeing this person had acknowledged them he became slightly excited. This was enough to let Rossy know someone was there " If you wish to come over, do so. But let me know where you are first please." Rossdale said as he stood.

Initially, he found it puzzling why the boy would say that, but then he saw his milky eyes and understood. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity for the boy as he realized that he had probably been blind his entire life. He couldn't imagine living like that, even now with his command of the Force.

"Approaching you from 5 o'clock," he announced as he walked over to him. He paused a few feet away, then knelt down to pet the boy's animal. It was a hyper little thing, but appeared harmless.

"Uther Weiss."

" i'm Rossdale.. call me Rossy. Nice to meet you" Ross said with a smile. " Little fur ball is Red" He said laughing as he heard Reds so called "purr' sound he made when he was happy.

"Nice to meet you, and your little friend here."

Uther petted Red behind its head, getting it to roll back on its back, presumably for a belly rub. He happily obliged. Playing with Red made him recall the string of pets he had as a kid. Constantly on the move with his parents as they fulfilled security contracts, he hadn't managed to own anything much larger than Red. Mostly reptiles and even an arachnid once (that experience didn't end well).

" Red loves people very friendly has been since i found him as a cub" Rossy said sitting down an crossed his legs " but its nice to have him, probubly could not get around if i did not have him" he said.

"It's always nice to have a little help."

So Red wasn't just a companion, but an aid as well. It was a strange sight to see a blind person without a more sophisticated kind of aid, like bionics. Maybe he just couldn't afford it before, but the Silver Order seemed to be overflowing with credits atm, so it would be nothing for them to hook him up.

"Don't think I've seen you around before (though I'm brand spankin new myself). How long have you been with the Silver Order?"

[member="Rossy"]

" quite a while, but i've been sick a lot.. The crash did more damage to my health then it did to my eyes" he said sighing " but i'm just glad Red survived it" he said

[member="Uther Weiss"]

"A crash? How exactly did your accident affect you, if I may ask?"

Aside from his eyes, the boy seemed fine just by looking at him. However, the same could be said about himself, but he had a lot more going on under the hood.

Rossy sighed " well other than a pretty bad concussion that took my ability to see, well to be completely honest i'm not sure I lost a good hand full of my memory to" he said.

[member="Uther Weiss"]

Just a concussion? Vision loss from traumatic brain injury wasn't an uncommon, but how he still remain blind in this day and age?

"Did anyone try to save your vision? No bacta treatments or healing?"

" yes, but i felt like i don't need it. True i can not see.. but i'm alive and I can walk.. I don't need my sight to know things. Plus i have Red.. Thats all i need" he said smiling.

Rossy's revelation that he was willingly choosing to be blind stunned him (so at that particular moment it was good Rossy was blind so he couldn't see Uther's expression of bewilderment). For a brief time in his life, he had been rendered blind as Sith tore into his flesh to augment his body. It had been a terrifying experience, so he couldn't understand why anyone would intentionally remained crippled. There had to be something more to his decision.

"Maybe you think you don't need your sight, but don't you think you're making yourself a burden upon everyone that has to support you, Red included? What if something happened to him one day? What then?"

Rossy sighed " I don't know what i would do if i lost Red. I know that i should but why? I don't really mind this. Who knows maybe one day i'll wake up and It will all be fine. But until then i'm happy with who i am, isn't that really all that matters?"

[member="Rossy"]

"No Rossy," Uther said, shaking his head. "Not if you plan on becoming a Jedi. As a Jedi, you need to weigh personal desires against the needs of others. Maybe you're comfortable remaining blind, but you waste resources as others have to sacrifice time and effort retraining you to use your other senses. In general, you would make it harder to train and work with you as you comrades would have to develop alternate methods to communicate."

"How well can you wield the Force now? Do you use it to perceive the world directly, or enhance your other senses?"

"Well to be completely honest... Iv not had any training.. I never even knew i could use the force until after the crash"he said looking down a bit as he sighed quietly.

[member="Uther Weiss"]

Sighing, he extened a hand to touch Rossy on the shoulder.

"Son, you really need to get your eyes fixed. It will take you a long time before your other senses would be able to adequately compensate for your loss. Even then, you wouldn't the same. And if your trauma was bad enough to give you blindness, then how do you know you haven't suffered brain damage? It could be affect you judgement."

"Mind if I show you something?"
