Where the Wild Things Are

Location: Level 1313 Coruscant

Jax stood atop a two story building watching the street below. Beings of all walks of life walked through the busy street in a hurry. His comms came on. All of his enforcers checked in except one.

"There you are",He thought to himself.

He would handle this himself for now. His police informant said it was happening today. The other gangs were finally moving on his territory. The gang had been growing to the point the buffer zone between all the different gangs was growing smaller and smaller. More fighting for ground. The police were so ineffective at this point the ones that hadn't gone dirty still looked the other way in most cases. More trouble than it's worth they reasoned. Tempers rant hot these days. Everyone shot first and asked questions later. The deeper levels of Coruscant were nothing more than a warzone. The animals were running the zoo.

He jumped on his speeder bike and took off to the sector that never reported back.

An MPE Soldier finished beating a middle-aged Duros into a coma, stood straight and radioed in to his Captain,

"Purge is done. I think everyone here is either dead or dying"

After receiving approval, the Soldier turned and jogged to the rendezvous point. He arrived alongside the rest of his Unit and stood to listen to the Captain.

"Right, listen. The Thanatosi is on his way here. Why? I don't know. But we're ahead of schedule and as far as I'm aware, this sector is clear. Nobodies gonna be reporting to anyone. So just don't mess up now."

Just as he finished his briefing, an Armoured Transport pulled up beside them. Several of the MPE soldiers shuffled their feet, a wave of uneasiness swept over the Unit which only intensified when steam billowed from the vehicle and the ramp began to lower. Orex Mauda stepped out of the cargo hold. He stopped at the bottom and observed his surroundings, made eye contact with the Captain and approached them, the boots of his Armour impacting the concrete and echoing throughout the empty streets. He stopped infront of the Captain, inhaled and spoke,

"Sector?"

"Clear sir"

"Good. Do you know who is responsible?"

The Captain clenched his jaws and shifted uneasily,

"Uh, No sir. There are several gang leaders we suspect. But none we can say for sure."

Orex looked into the Captain's eyes, his Mask draining the life from him slowly,

"Hmm. You've done well."

Orex held his gaze momentarily, then broke it, spun on his heel and walked away. The Captain relaxed as he left but found himself stumbling to the floor as if Fatigue had just turned his body off. Orex returned to the Transport and ducked inside. Once inside and the ramp closed, he radioed the Captain,

"Keep your unit here. Secure the sector and make sure anyone who arrives is either captured or killed. If they look important, try not to kill them immediately"

The MPE remained in the silent sector, watching for any movement.

The Son's Vigil expansion through these slums would begin today. Blood would be shed and innocent lives lost. Those are the words told by Seruka, Cardinal Bishop, before blindfolding sixteen of her most loyal men and taking them into the streets. They were armed only with kitchen knives and were dressed in rags but each one faithful enough to lay down their life for the Son.

At first they marched uneasy and scared. The sector was abuzz with different noises and smells, all of them distracting. But Seruka's voice grounded and brought peace of mind while she led them.

"Follow me and do not feel fear, dear brothers and sisters." Seruka walked just a few feet ahead of them. She took confidence not only from her god but her two lightsabers tucked onto her belt.

"The insulars and apostates walk these streets ignorant of the Fanged ones power. After today they will tremble when they hear our name and scream when they see our mark."

Seruka grimced when thinking of the unenlightened scum that walked the silent sector and anger picked up in her voice. "They say several gangs are in the area. They poison the minds of people here, it makes them turn their ear from our Lord's word. We will demonstrate what happens to those who fall to far from the path."

Minutes later of marching they stopped dead in the middle of a crowded market square. Alien immigrants and the poor peddled shoddy goods on floor mats while all forms of Coruscant life walk by. Each of them unaware of what could be a massacre taking place here and now.
