When the pauper met the Princess

Yuroic had never been one for travelling, he had been on ships and smuggled in space but never really visited many planets. It always seemed he returned to Nar Shaddaa. However, that old life was behind him and now he had arrived on Cularin, it was a planet of interest for him as it was meant to have a strong Force connection. He was interested in how the planet worked and what he could feel through the Force. Although, that was just a secondary reason of interest, he had learnt that there was a Jedi princess on the planet as well. Hoping to learn more from her or even have a conversation with her would be a big step for Yuroic. A man from extremely humble beginnings.

He entered the front doors to the palace, wearing his Jedi Padawan robes as he often did. He stroked them furiously trying to rid them of creases, thankfully there were no stains as he had washed them. He held a chuckle as he remembered how dirty they would get when he was first training. He could have possibly worn street wear but he didn't feel comfortable in that yet, preferring the feel of his robes for now, a reminder of his status. His braid falling down his right shoulder as he tucked it behind his ear. It was a tradition he grew it though he hated the long thin braid.

He had tidied himself well for this meeting and he was happy with how he had presented himself, though he knew that it would be nothing compared to the princess he was to meet. He was all too familiar with royalty, having seen the proceedings between the Silver Jedi Order and the Iron Empire, he had seen several members of royalty and their attire. It was beyond him how one could get clothing to look so wonderful but then perhaps it was because of their stature or just by nature. He stood, slightly nervous but intrigued to meet this fellow Jedi.

Cularin
Raelynn had been running around the castle all day with problems sprouting up everywhere. She smoothed out her dress, readjusting the sabers on her belt. Her hair at this point was at least not crazy.. her day was though. The reason everything was running so crazy, was that Rae was going to have her official coronation soon and everyone was making preparations for it. It would be crazy once she officially became queen, but she had handled it well so far, so she'd just have to see what everything was like once it was done.

"My lady.. when do you want to have your dress fitting?"

one of her staff members asked. She was her lady in waiting and an amazing one at that. They had become best friends, yet she still called Raelynn, 'My lady'. Maybe someone had been telling her to say otherwise? Either way, Rae had to respond.

"In three days if possible. That's the next time I don't have to be running somewhere."

she said walking through the hall. All of a sudden, she sensed something.. someone was here.. did she forget about a meeting?? It was possible.. though he or she was force sensitive. Letting the young woman attend her other duties, Rae walked towards the front to see a young man. He was straightening out his.. Jedi Robes? Another Jedi! At last! Sighing and straightening out her own outfit once more, bringing her hair over her shoulder, she walked over to him.

"Hello. May I help you?"

she asked in a gentle and friendly voice despite the craziness going on in the back. Rae gave a slight wincing smile as she heard the sound of something crash. Oops..

He saw the rushing around of men and women, it was curious. Normally he hadn't seen such running around unless it was from danger. It caused him a slight chuckle as they looked like headless chickens running around, though he hadn't seen many headless chickens so he wasn't sure it did look like that. Old sayings often confused him, he was still getting use to the large vocabulary of the Galaxy Basic. He never spoke much before joining the Jedi Order. Now many would argue he said too much, but alas, such is the way. He noticed the princess as she wandered up to him, she seemed to have a slight rush in her step.

He thought that she looked quite graceful, definitely beautiful, he liked the blue addition to her hair. It added a nice colour. He realised he had not answered her question but instead just gawked at her. Ahem. Sorry, I had heard you were a Jedi and wanted to come visit. I had heard a lot about Cularin and its connection to the Force and was curious. I'm Yuroic, Padawan in the Silver Jedi Order, your highness? Titles were never his strong point so he knew there was a chance he said the wrong title but he was nervous.

He attempted to adjust and smooth his robes once more as he realised that he looked probably very under dressed compared to her. But then there would be argument to say that most would look under dressed compared to her. He did wonder if her hair colour matched her saber colour. His golden blade was more or less the exact opposite of the kind of person he was. He had never owned anything gold in his life. Even his lightsabers had the rustic look of his life.

Raelynn knew that all of the people running around looked a little hectic. Everyone had been in order until things started going wrong. When she saw the young man though, she figured this would be a good time to break away from the crowd and take some time to relax for a little bit. Walking up, she seemed a little rushed, which was slightly bad on her part. It must have seemed like she was running after him. She didn't really get many visitors from other places.. especially ones wondering about her force sensitive side.

She looked around real quick making sure no one was coming up to them momentarily, especially after hearing a crash more than likely coming from the kitchen. They needed to find somewhere a little more private. Rae thought for a second before motioning for him to walk beside her. She had a special room to go to when she needed quiet time or if she had a friend in the castle. This would be the perfect place.

"Oh.. my apologies for the mess Yuroic. My name is Princess Raelynn Jarrus, but please you can call me Rae..it cuts down on formality and makes it a little less stiff."

she responded. She could tell he was nervous as was she for such a spontaneous meeting. It was nice to see someone who wasn't all glitz, glamour and money for once.. Rae dressed a little more less formal than she would have if she was meeting someone. She wasn't crazy about the mindless over-sized outfits some politicians and other royals wore. She was a little more practical.

"We'll just be going somewhere a little more private to talk.. also where it's a little more quiet as well.. So. What type of things about Cularin are you interested about? What questions do you have? I'm still learning about it myself, so perhaps this will be a learning experience for the both of us."

He gave a slight bow in respect when she introduced herself. He also gave her a warming smile, hoping to settle both of their nerves. He followed her closely as she walked them to the more private section of the castle. Yuroic was surprised to hear that she was still learning ways of the Force. It was doubtful that he would be able to run a planet and still have time to train in the Jedi arts. Though he suspected that just ruling a planet would be overwhelming enough for him. There was recognition of tough it must be at times.

Private sounds good, Rae. I'm interested in learning more about the planet, I haven't visited many planets before so excited to see what it is like. Though it is a beautiful planet from what I've seen so far. I was curious about how you are able to rule and have time to be a Jedi? I couldn't do both. Stress would be too much.

He gave her another smile as he looked around the palace. It was a sight to behold, especially for him, having never seen anything like it before. He had also heard the crash that came from another room, curious about what it would be. However, the princess seemed less phased by it so must not have been something important.

Seeing as the young man gave a bow, she returned the favor with a respectful bow of her head to him. His smile did help a little more as she returned it. So far as for appearance and a first impression, he was a fairly decent young man and she appreciated that. Again, it was nice to not see some stuck up person with millions of dollars who looked down their nose at people.. those people always seemed so stuffy to Rae even though she lived that life.. She just chose to be a better person hen it came to it.

"Well, the planet's history isn't something I'm well versed on, but I do have sources in the library you could take a look at if you like. My studies and training go hand in hand. Yes, I am ruling the planet at the same time, but after a while, you figure out how to segment your time to get everything done. I was trained very hard when I was younger, taking the fact that I do have a kingdom to rule. The stress does get out of hand sometimes, but in the end, everything turns out alright."

she responded. Wow.. it had been so long since she had last talked to a normal human being.. it felt nice. Though she wished she could tone down the regal side a bit.

He offered the princess to walk arm in arm as they talked, he listened politely and with interest to what she had to say about the planet and on how she handled her Jedi training and ruling. It seemed she had a good handle on things, but he suspected that she handled it better than he ever could. A surprising lack of the planet's history had caught Yuroic off guard, he reminded himself quickly that he did not the entire history of Nar Shaddaa. The planet he spent his childhood on, mostly.

Idea popped into his head, he wasn't sure if she would be interested but it was worth a try. Well, instead of staying indoors and talking. We could explore the city, you could show me around and afterwards visit the rural areas. See what wildlife thrive on this planet. The sun is shining and calls for a day of fun and exploration! When was the last time you left this palace and walked the streets?

He had hoped that he came across convincing enough. Although, there could be reasons why she wanted them to remain indoors, perhaps crowds of people cheering and bowing to her wore her out. Being the centre of attention could not always be fun. A thought that Yuroic would agree with. He rather blend into the background that shine in the spotlight. However, he was right. It was too pleasant a day to spend it indoors, and viewing the city and the rural areas were something he would love to do.

She had briefly looked over to Yuroic while they were walking and did a double take as she saw him with his arm out for her to take. Smiling, she gladly took his offer and wrapped her arm around his. She knew her life would sound grand to some and over bearing to others, but she lived it without a blink of the eye of how uptight she had been for a long time. Rae never really had the time to just get out of the castle and explore a little bit. She continued leading him down the hall towards the special room as the crowd of maids and caretakers of the castle started to slowly thin out. Now again, Rae had lived here her entire life and hadn't gotten around to too many other planets in her lifetime so far. She had a fairly wonderful education and she was a very intelligent girl, but the history of her planet solely, was something she never seemed to get around to.

Raelynn was surprised upon hearing Yuroic's suggestion. No one had ever wanted to just take a day and explore the planet, much less the kingdom before. Especially a visitor. She thought it over for a second before responding.

"I couldn't possibly do such thing.. I have so much work that-"

When was the last time you left this palace and walked the streets?

Upon hearing that statement, she stopped and thought once more, before looking back to Yuroic with a smile.

"Perhaps.. we could sneak out and go on an adventure around the planet. As far as I know, nobody needs me for a little while. Besides, it has been about a month or so since I've been out there having some fun with everyone."

She responded, her smile turning into a certain type of smirk. It was definitely a beautiful day and there was no way she could pass it up. Rae needed some time just living life for a little bit anyway. Visiting the countryside would definitely be a wonderful thing to do.

He noted how at first she was going to protest then decided to change her mind. Yuroic smiled warmly as she did, he was glad that she agreed to wander outside of the castle. As lovely and interesting the castle was, he wanted to see more, see the people she was serving as princess. And he was sure that she would be interested in seeing them outside of a formal setting. Taking her hand he led her away from prying eyes, he was quite skillful at sneaking in and out of places. Something his previous life had taught him, although he was never thankful for it. That life was harsh and cruel, he felt much better living as a Jedi and having the Silver Jedi as his family now.

As they wandered out to the back of the castle he heard someone moving in their direction. Pulling Rae behind a pillar and in close, he held his breath till the stranger passed. All the while, he looked down at Rae and gave her a teasing smile, he was sure the princess had never done anything like this before. As the stranger passed, he guided Rae out to the gardens and towards a nearby gate. Sadly the gate was locked and Yuroic was never good at lockpicking. He turned to Rae and gave a curious look.

Hm... Don't suppose you have the key for this? Rather not use my lightsaber to destroy the lock as it would add suspicion and we don't want people thinking I kidnapped you! Yuroic chuckled deeply as he place his hands on his hips. Slightly stumped, even if it was a simple lock.

It had definitely been a while since Rae had last left the castle. She had been wanting to escape this place for a little while, but anytime she tried, she was caught. Rae could have been as swift or quiet as possible, she still got caught by a staff member. She was starting to feel like Rapunzel.. solitude got to her sometimes and she wanted to just get out and see the world and the galaxy. He was definitely right with wanting to get out and not feel like some high person. It felt nice to be a normal person every once in a while.

He then took Rae's hand and led her to a back door. Only a few staff members knew of this door. It led out into the flower gardens. Rae heard as someone went racing by them with linens in her arms. Must have been the tablecloths.. Yuroic ducked behind a pillar, pulling her with him and fairly close to him. She had definitely never done anything like this.. She tried when she had a boyfriend.. that didn't turn out very well at all. She looked up at him to see a smile on his face as she smiled back. Once the person went past, the two ran out into the gardens to the gate.. Rae checked her pockets.. empty... except for two bobby pins.

"No.. I don't.. I've picked this lock before though. It's quite simple."

She responded pulling the pins out of her pocket as she stuck them into the socket and soon enough the lock popped open.

"I did however, get away a few times."

she responded with a smile as she then took the lock, opened the gate and waited for him to follow her out as he would then close it back up with the lock in the same place it was before.

Yuroic chuckled as he closed the gate behind them and heard it click into place. He looked over to the princess and gave a little bow showing his respect on her pick locking skills. Very well done! Few can pick locks that well, could have been born on Nar Shaddaa with skills like that. He commented, first time he had mentioned his home world. Though, he never liked the planet anyway, he rather where he was now with the SJO on Voss. Being close to nature was a soothing experience.

He wandered forward and looked around the open space. Well my princess, where shall we go to first? Meet the people in the city nearby or head into the wilderness and risk getting muddy! His eyes glinted mischievously when he mentioned getting muddy. He grinned as he wandered a bit ahead of her. Inhaling deeply, he took in the scents of the earth and planet life. Living on the smuggler's moon meant that Yuroic had no real experience with plant-life, so he loved to take in every world that had some to offer.

Rae gave a small smirk that turned into a big smile with a giggle as she saw him bow and then compliment her on her lock picking skills. Unbeknownst to him, she learned how to pick locks when one time she had been captured and held for ransom, but no one had come for her. At this point she figured that there wasn't exactly a better time to figure out how to pick a lock and so she started on the one to the door of her cell and learned on fairly quickly.

"Why thank you! I learned how to do it under a pressing time. I was captured and held for ransom and a few weeks had gone by that no one had co e to find me and they started planning out my execution. I didn't give them a chance to do so, because I had been trying to figure out how to pick the lock the entire time, so I escaped for they could blink an eye."

She giggled as she then continued on. Rae heard him say something about Nar Shaddaa. It wasn't exactly one of the greatest planets on the world, but had a few valuable resources. She walked along with him as he then asked where they should go first. She smiled.

"Let's go see the people and then get muddy."

She responded with and adventurous spirit. She would be given quite the lecture once she returned ,ore than likely, but she didn't care. Rae had to get out for a little while and there was no better way. Either way, she loved exploring the planet. But she hadn't been too far past the city yet. Not that she didn't want to, she had just never gotten the chance quite yet.

Yuroic watched as Rae raced forward into an adventurous sprint. He smiled warmly before chasing after her, her free-spirited side was refreshing as it was endearing. He chased her all the way to the city where he stood and took in the sights. Looking over the city he felt reminded of how different life was from what he grew up with. He turned to Rae and gave a small grin. Tell me more about your people, do you have special celebrations? Is it rare for there to be Force Users amongst your people?

Yuroic's questions were to gain insight on her culture. His quizzical nature was easily one that could get him in trouble but since being a Jedi also provided him higher intellect. Walking around, he smiled to strangers as they went about their days and looked around at the various stalls selling food and other items. One could argue that he was running around like a little child, exploring all the new sights.

Rae smiled as she let out the first real laugh in a little while. There had been so much stress lately, that she had to be pretty serious for a while and more like her exterior self than who she truly was. Being with Yuroic truly helped free her a bit. He was fun and from a certain standpoint, he understood her position it seemed. She knew he wasn't a royal or anything like that, but you didn't have to be one to understand their life.

"We used to alot more so a few years ago. Traditions really died down after my father passed. We celebrate the big holidays that the rest of the galaxy celebrates and sometimes we put together small celebrations for Sweet 16s and the like, but nothing too crazy. As for force users, this is a very force activated planet. There are old temples scattered around the planet, no one just knows where they are though. Rumor has it that my castle is one. Most of the Jedi have migrated to other more populated and more well known planets now though. Some of these people are sensitive to it and don't even know. So, it's partially rare, but it's known that there are other Jedi around the area. This planet is my main excuse to be trained in the force."

She responded. Rae loved Yuroic's energetic spirit about her planet. She loved how interested he was in the history and culture. Not many people were concerned about that. He was like a kid in the candy store and she didn't even mind. She loved having people like him around. He was fun and free spirited like her. He was already becoming a very good friend and they barely knew each other.

He heard her genuinely laugh, the chuckle made him grin as he gave her a warm, friendly smile in return. It had been a long time since he connected with someone so quickly, he was enjoying her company.

He sniffed a few fruits and veg on sale before purchasing two sweet and ripe pear shaped fruit. His coin was limited but he picked up creds from odd jobs and services he provided other Padawans at the Voss temple. He closed his eyes and listened out for the Force as she described it being a Force heavy planet.

"I do feel something, sorry new to this Force stuff so takes a bit of an effort to really be in tune with it all. Is there any customs I should know of while here?" He asked. Curious to not offend anyone or jump deep into trouble through miscommunication.

[member="Rae Jarrus"]

A genuine laugh from her wasn't unusual, but lately, things had been changing. She was about to become queen, she had to keep a level of seriousness for everything so far. Rae had meetings with multiple diplomats and the like, congratulating her on her official coronation. Each time, she had to wear itchy dresses that were not her style, very hot wigs and tons of makeup. She would NOT be doing all of that on coronation day. She decided that she was going to go with a more elegant style to her liking.

Rae kept walking a few steps enjoying the wide open fresh air until she realized that Yuroic had stopped at a stand to get fruit. She started pulling out some money for him until she saw that he was already paying for it.

"I could have paid for that."

She responded once he caught up with her once more, as she offered to give him what he paid, back. In the end, five percent from each stand came to her. She could afford to pay him back. She was always saving the money for greater causes though. If someone's home was falling apart, she would get someone out there immediately to fix it. Some of it went to herself for special events, but most went to fixing up her kingdom. That's the way she wanted it to be. There was no reason to be selfish.

Rae then looked to see as he then started sensing for the force on the planet. She smiled and giggled slightly.

"That's alright. Sometimes I have to try to look for it myself. The people have their own customs, as they have come from other worlds. Years upon years ago, when only a Jedi council existed here, there was said to be grand celebrations. I never fou.nd out much more though. There once was, but since, they have been forgotten."

She responded. There was so much history to be learned about the planet that had not learned yet. She felt foolish and ashamed for it.

~ [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] ~

He pushed her hand back, if he wanted her to pay he would have asked but he felt it was good to pay for himself. Not really having a chance to buy something for himself, or at least others. No, no. Keep your creds, I am fine paying for these. Just enjoy the fruit. He said they were the best in the city, though that could just be a marketing ploy. Saw plenty of stalls selling the best items on Nar Shaddaa and I can tell you none of them were.

He offered a smile and chuckle before biting into the pear like fruit. It was juicy and very tasty, Yuroic let out a satisfied groan as he took another mouthful. Finishing his mouthful, he beamed widely, Well I be darn, he was right! This is the best one I've ever had... Though that isn't really saying much I expect. What do you think? He was interested in her opinion, sure that plenty of delicious fruits in her time as a princess.

Listening to her talk about the way things worked culture wise on the planet, Yuroic realised he not shared very much about himself to her, feeling slightly embarrassed that he hadn't allowed her to ask him anything about his life. Well that is the norm nowadays, immigration brings new cultures to worlds and creates entire new ones as well. Did you wish to ask me anything?
