When Dreams Become Nightmares (Ty Loh)

Lothal was a strangely dark world. Despite past habitations by various galactic governments, the world still suffered from a general state of disrepair that was truly unbecoming. And it was a harbinger of the despotic sorts of individuals that Nightmare often found herself sent to destroy. On top of that, the world held an ancient Jedi temple, one that she wished to see with her own eyes as it might serve a purpose for her and those she was slowly meeting along the way of her travels.

She'd come to the world alone, not dressed in her standard assassin garb, but dressed in the clothing of a firedancer, and wearing her lightsaber on her hip. She wanted people to believe she was there on official Jedi business, not on the business of a Shadow. It would serve its purpose.

While there she entertained visits from certain individuals that wished to ingratiate themselves with the Jedi and she heard them out, though she had little interest in their affairs. In the end she left them believing that good things would come to them, but truthfully they would see nothing from her as their petty troubles were not enough to warrant the interference of a Jedi.

After a day of work, making herself visible, she retired to her chambers to 'sleep' the night away. Though she would not sleep, she would not be undertaking her mission that evening. Instead, she would settle into a state of meditative trance, preparing her mind and body for what was to come next, as it would be another tough test for her, though she had no idea that something, no, someone, else would come to test her first.

"Get the lightsaber... get her head."

Ty herself had no knowledge of what a lightsaber really was. A flashlight with a better light? Or a curved light? Sabre swords were commonly curved. Whatever it was, it sure seemed... boring... but apparently valuable.

Ty only started stalking her first victim close to night time, when the sky shone purple and the stars became visible. Like a Lothal tooka, she crept her way into the place her victim slept. It was petty business hacking into the system and opening the door, she'd done it tons of times breaking into store houses for food, clothes, and such. Ty instinctively fell into a low, unarmed posture, her plain clothes rippling.

However, her victim was sitting in the center of the room all weird like.

Ty maintained her training and slowly crept towards her. She soon stood behind her still, the person still sitting in that awkward posture, eyes closed, apparently not knowing she was there. The usually emotionless teen smirked, Too easy...

In a flash, she attempted to wrap her arms around her neck. If she succeeded, she would be able to possibly strangle her to death.

In the meditative stance she was lost in the Force, but the Force was not lost in her. It still flowed about her, and as she sat there, she felt the presence of another. Strangely enough, it was a presence that was strong enough in the Force to warrant attention. The biggest, thing, though, was that she felt a tinge of darkness in this being. Blatantly obvious? No. This was no Sith. But it was someone with ill inentions. The assassin instinct kicked in and she wanted to gut the would be attacker in a flash. She could have done it too, but she thought better of it.

She did remain still, though, as the girl approached, feigning ignorance of her presence. It would give the other a bout of overconfidence that could be fed upon.

So when the girl reached to grip around her head, she succeeded. But in that same instant, one of Niamh's own hands shot up and over her head, rather than for the arms that gripped her throat tightly. She had no intention of trying to pry the arms free. Instead, she reached for the girls hair, intent on grabbing enough of it that, if she succeeded in catching the girl by surprise, she could whip her over her head and onto her back before Niamh in a show of Force assisted strength. No games, just brutality.

@Nightmare

Yup. It was a total surprise when he grabbed her. And of course, he tossed her over like a salad, handling her like a rag doll.

One of the street rat's hands held her head, but another was used to assist her getting up. As she faced her still alive opponent, she bit her lip. How would be kill her now? Best Ty could think of was a direct approach. So, her hair in her face, the silver eyed kid whipped out one of her wooden tessens, pulling it into a tessenjutsu opening stance.

Not a word escaped from her lips. Of course, she was a person of few words. She just wanted to kill this woman and get out of here! However, she waited for her victim's first move. Maybe it was some type of desire to hear her speak her last words? Or was it fear? Or even pity? In reality, Ty was just doing her job for people she didn't even like. Maybe it was guilt that kept her mouth shut? If it was guilt though, her opponent would not see it on her emotionless, cold face.

The kid stood, hair a mess, and drew an interesting weapon. Niamh eyed it out of curiosity, though she remained fully aware of the young woman's stance. Should she act, the response would be a swift one. Normally this would have been a quickly fought battle in which the young girl would now be dead on the floor in front of her. That was the way of Nightmare, her normal persona. But Nightmare retained some of the elements of Niamh within her, and she saw potential. What she felt was another matter.

On the nightstand was her discblade. She opened a hand and called it over with the Force, catching it smoothly. Like the girl, she held an ornate, exotic weapon within her grasp. No lightsaber here, though she had them. The twirling of a lightsaber blade would draw unwanted attention. She faced the girl openly, still kneeling, though her body was coiled like a snake's ready to pounce.

"Why do you attack me, girl?" she asked of her. "Attacking a Jedi rarely turns out well, though markedly better than attacking a Sith."

Niamh was still shining through at the moment, and she had no desire to kill the girl.

"Sit down and tell me why you are here. I won't be forced to harm you if you don't try to attack me again."

Ty glared unusually at this woman for a moment; she was not a talker! However, she seemed trapped and maybe, if she gained her trust... But another thing bugged her. How on earth did that disk blade thingy fly into her hands? Was it magnetic? Her curiosity caused her to fold her wooden fan and sit on her knees, Placing her tessen on the ground, Ty raised as eyebrow and pointed to the object in her hand, "How did you do that?"

Ty pushed her hair behind her ears - simply because it was itchy, she could care less about her looks - her childish innocence left unintentionally showing. Ty was still a child, and having spent her entire life in Lothal's slums, learned mostly things a child shouldn't learn, and nothing that they should. Ty was literate, but she was taught to read and write only for a thug's purposes. She had her multiplication tables memorized, but she never used it. She knew nothing of lightsabers or even the force, which was what her target had used to grab her weapon. Ty was confused, and a growing feeling in her stomach told her that there was no putting this woman's guard down. No victory. So how could she escape? If she ran, surely she would be followed. No, she needed a more discrete way of getting away... maybe getting away from Lothal as a whole, although this thinking was irrational. Ty did not want to face her superiors with her first mission being a slump... although she never wanted any of this at all in the first place.

She continued to kneel as she was, watching the girl across from her. The disc blade remained in her grasp, ready to be used at a moments notice. The girl, though, knelt down as well, curious as to how she'd called the disc from its resting place and to her hands. She was beginning to suspect that this attack had not been well thought out, or that she'd been sent here to die. Lothal was a dangerous place, full of riff raff and gangs. Maybe this was their way of ridding themselves of her.

"The Force."

Releasing the blade, she carried it with the Force, swiftly, across until it was right in front of the girls eyes, only a few inches away. She held it there and watched the girl casually.

"The Force is everything around you. It is in you. You have a strong connection to the Force, which is why I question why you are even here, trying to attack me. Only a fool would do so, or someone being played for a fool. I suspect someone sent you. So, who sent you, and why?"

Ty just eyed her oddly for a moment, unsure if she should believe her about this force - or tell her why she was here. It wasn't like Ty to open up. Still though, this conversation didn't seem to be going any other ways, and something just told her... to open up a bit.

Her door was unlocked, the door creaked open.

"I was sent, yes."

She shut up again, the door suddenly slamming shut again. She needed distraction, and a curious comment her former target (no way she was killing her now) came into mind.

"If you don't mind me asking," the girl asked, "What do you mean I'm strong in the force? I didn't even know about this thing until today."

The door nob, somehow, was willingly turned. Maybe, somehow, she sensed bottom line that escape was ahead...

"Most do not know until it is shown to them."

Without a thought or a movement, she sent a gentle caress of the Force arcing out towards the girl. It would appear as if a warm wind had penetrated the room, though no curtain moved, and not a hair upon Niamh's head moved. The wind was only for the girl, created through manipulations of the Force to rise and touch her cheek, her entire face, her entire body, as if she were in the embrace of a lover, not sitting on an empty space of flooring.

It was a subtle trick, no malice or harm could come of it. Mostly it was done for show.

"I did not know until my teacher showed me that I had the ability. I was nothing more than a member of the Republic Navy and head of a major galactic corporation until my eyes were opened to the truth."

She leaned forward and looked into the girls eyes.

"Now I will open yours."

The gentle caress would suddenly vanish as the full might of the Force would scream at the girl, Niamh using it in an effort to penetrate her mind and awaken that which lay dormant inside the child before her. She would be shown the truth. Only then could she be free of the chains that bound her and become what she was destined to be: the apprentice of Nightmare.

No need to either re-lock the door or open it - it had been ripped off the hinges for her.

It was aggressive, it was serene, it was passionate, it was soothing, it was powerful.

Like the sturdy winds of a tornado, swirling in circles as a vortex of force and destruction, a change took place. A bout of telekinetic energy took place, and she floated with the person who she now considered a nightmare... or night terror... or maybe, by chance, a lucid dream about to break into reality.

Black hair floated, and even her fans vibrated on her belt. In another moment, she found control. She was back on the ground, hair fell back on her back. A gasp escaped her. Something had indeed changed.

She barreled over and emptied her stomach's contents.

When finished with that business, she looked up at the paladin, that power was not going away. It was not going away, but it was her own. For once, something was her own. Or was it? Ty's eyes shone with confusion and understanding in the same moment. Still, she was left to ask, "What did you do to me?"

She watched as the girl rushed over to relieve her stomach of the meager contents within it. Judging by how most of it was bile, and the skinniness of the girl, she was certain that this one had fallen in with one of the local gangs. She'd been sent to kill Nightmare as an initiation. Of course those that sent her had to know that she was destined to fail, so in that sense they had sent her to her death, which meant that they didn't value her. They didn't value life. This precious child was a victim.

When she turned back and asked her question, Nightmare slowly stood and turned to face the girl. Tall she was not. The only intimidating factor about her was her seemingly emotionless exterior and how she never let anything bother her enough to draw an emotional reaction. That and the fact that she could probably kill just about anyone, and most people knew it based on her species alone.

"I opened your mind to the power within yourself."

A brief hint of a smile touched her lips.

"Now the question becomes: what will you do with this power?"
