When Darkness Consumes...

The cavern was nothing short of spectacular. It’s expanse larger then any temple in the core with great beams of solid rock that arched up in sporadic, yet intricate designs created only by nature itself and not the hands of some artisan. The damp air added a sheen to everything that only added to the majesty of Sieger Ren’s chosen solitude, great vats of steam expressed through geothermal outlets creating rolling clouds that resembled giants in a constant motion of formation and rebirth. Yet all this was secondary to the single beam of light that cast itself ever downwards towards the stone throne that housed the Supreme Leader of the First Order himself.
One would be forgiven into believing such a place was of beauty and peace, however it was far from the truth.
This cavern, a small insignificant place on a planet deep in the uncharted territories, was the place where Sieger Ren, the Supreme Leader of the First Order and founder of the Knights of Ren took council of his power and forged the future of the galaxy with mere words and ideals.
It had become his seat of authority several months prior when without warning or reason he departed with one of his own students and swept from the territory of his small empire without hesitation.
Yet few would know this, fewer even would understand it at all. To the soldiers and citizens of the First Order Sieger Ren was still very much present in the capitol. His tall and proud form constant in daily affairs and his words as strong as ever.
How easily they had all been fooled. Belis Ren, first Knight and favoured of the Supreme Leader thought as he turned his hidden gaze upon the throne where his master sat. Belis had been the only one brought with Sieger as he had departed First Order space, the only one truly knowing the stark truth as to why the Master and the Apprentice had been pulled away from the war that precedented the First Order’s rise in power.
The Supreme Leader was dying.
While the strong and youthful Sieger Ren patrolled the First Order’s interests with spurring speeches and displays of physical prowess the withered husk of the real Supreme Leader was forced to spend his days plotting within his stone tomb that he had entered himself within along with his favoured son. His form was broken, almost no more than a skeleton in a set of robes, deep and dark shadows casting doubt across his form. For Belis it was a stark reminder on what can happen if you relied too much on the darkness to obtain your power, without the strength necessary to withstand it the darkness consumed as much of you as you would of it.
“Ren.” The voice, barely a whisper over the mist called out from the skeletal form on the stone seat.
“Yes Master.” Belis went to a single knee and bowed his masked and hooded face. his body aching from the ever constant watch that he had been placed upon during the gaps in his training.
“I have sensed a disturbance in the Force.” His form slouched forward in his chair as a shadow cast face regarded the knelt Knight. “You have felt it too?”
“I have.” Belis voice, when modulated through his helmet was a low growl, fitting for the situation, a test if Belis had ever seen one. “Something has shifted.”
“Yes. A new power has emerged, one that is clouded to even I.” Belis levelled his head and looked at the Supreme Leader in this moment of insight, yet Sieger continued as if he realised Belis’ questioning thought. “It is unseeable through my own design Ren. Yet this shift is a disturbing trait that I wish to be investigated further.” Sieger leaned forward again, his form barely able to cope with the movement of his bones. “Your training is not yet complete my apprentice yet I declare you to investigate this matter with your utmost attention. No other is equal to the task.”
“Of course my master.” Belis rose from his knelt position and turned to leave. However as he did he paused and tilted his helmeted head ever so slightly towards the Supreme Leader. “I have a question of you my master.”
“Naturally my son.”
Belis took several steps towards the podium. “This disturbance, what measures are in place for yourself to not see it, power like that would be a great asset in forwarding our cause.” Sieger’s face twisted. “Please share this knowledge with me.”
“You are not ready boy.” A dark cloud seemed to appear behind the master’s form as he pulled himself more upright in his throne. “Your power is great but heed my warning, you are not as powerful as you can be. For now you obey me.” His final words were almost as if said by another stronger being.

“As you wish.” Belis had closed the gap and was now stood before the throne with his back straight. “I shall go and investigate this…disturbance.” Sieger stood from his seat, his form as frail as ever. A hand clasped on Belis’ shoulder like a father would with a favoured child.
“You will go far young one, you have always brought me such pride…” His words however were cut short, a withered breath escaped his lungs as the crimson blade of his apprentice carried through his torso. “You…”
“Have surpassed your training.” Belis pulled Sieger further down the lightsaber as he held his master’s head close to his mask. “The Ren were foolish to follow you as they do. I was not, I followed you because you had what I needed.”
“This isn’t the end you fool.”
“I know, that is why you needed to see this. You need to know that no matter what I will win.” The blade de-activated into the hilt of the saber and Belis removed his grasp on the Supreme Leader who collapsed and fell into a heap on the ground.
“You always showed the most promise. Yet I never foresaw that it would be you who would do this, a thousand years and my repayment for power is this? It is only fitting.” Sieger’s eyes began to close and a last ditch effort of a breath carried through the mist.
“Only the strong will survive.” Belis acknowledged as the hiss of his helmet announced it’s removal. “Your time was then, mine is now.”

Ooc: For the First Order, this is to explain Belis’ absence as well as his removal from the Ren. He has killed the Supreme Leader but as we now Sieger Ren is all powerful. It is up to you how to continue with his story.
