What's a hotel stay between padawans?

Not that Varindar regretted being a hotel general manager, running a hotel that catered to non-Trandoshan guests, just that she found that it was a lot to take in, especially early in the learning curve. It was still early to form an opinion on her master, one Morse Sunrider, but, while the actual number of guests have increased since the SJ appointed her to run the hotel, there were still some vacancies. In the end, the revenues are largely unchanged since the revenues cashed in from the cancellation are compensated by guests checking in at lower prices and thus most gains come from outside the rooms proper, primarily the restaurant but also the beauty salon. Now, perhaps the hotelier would actually host one of her fellow padawans at the hotel, but she wasn't sure as to whether [member="Tanaski Yumi"] was there for a meal, a night or some other reason. She might have wished for an opportunity to unwind, but she knew that pleasing the guests was very important, especially if she hoped to keep the hotel running well past the relaunch. Because she knew that, for just about any product or service, the novelty effect was due to wear off at some point. As she came across the padawan's gaze, she starts asking him about the purpose of his visit.

"Welcome to the Crown Nebula Hotel. What can I do for you today?"

It had been but a few day since the First Order invaded Degoba, the grueling fight then insured still affecting the young Jin, in the sense of sore muscles and a small amount of sleep deprivation. Nothing that would be noticeable to others or affect his over all bodily function, but still enough to make the Padawan want to relax and spend time off. Normally Tanasuki would probably be staying back at the royal palace on Atrisia, or the dorms back at the Jedi temple, but such location where usually busy, one way or another some assignment coming up that needed to be taken care of.

So when he had learned about [member="Varindar Asyt"] owning some hotel on Trandosia, away from the main bustle and hustle of Jedi business he was all for it, the talk of a restaurant and beauty salon peaking his interest even more. Walking through the front entrance, dressed in a traditional Riben-Jin Yukata, soon being greeted by Varindar herself, "Hello there Asyt-san, nice to see you again, I am here to inquire about any vacancies you may have, looking to stay a few night to relax and recuperate".

"How many nights? Also, do you have any specific requests? We have two types of rooms: do you want to stay in the signature room or the executive suite?"

Varindar didn't own the hotel per se, but she was the one face of the hospitality industry on Trandosha. She knew that the Silvers usually looked after their Jedi when it came to them going on off-world trips, away from the main temple at Silver Rest on Kashyyyk. While it did allow Jedi to sleep as a guest in luxury hotels where less expensive options were completely booked out, making it so that even Padawans can sometimes get to sleep in five-star hotels when they have otherwise no desire to sleep in such establishments, doesn't mean a specific room is vacant for one night that the same room will be vacant for any higher number of consecutive nights. While, under the previous owners, rooms were simply allocated to guests in descending order of amenities, confident that they would be able to rent out the most luxurious rooms while still having vacancies, under Varindar's tenure, she had to be way more cautious about how long to rent out a room for, because she knows that guest satisfaction is a big component of ensuring that the hotel will remain open in the long run. She then asks [member="Tanaski Yumi"] for billing information before producing the bill for the hotel stay and bringing him to whatever room may turn up.

"As part of our arrangement with the Order, the Order will reimburse your stay in full, so, please, have your Order ID documentation ready; otherwise, please make sure you have billing information to provide"

"Inducing this nigh 4, enough time to get settled in and have some fun, as for a room, I think I will take a suite, I know it may be a bit much for one person but I've gotten used to living in high class style, being the Padawan to the Princess of Atrisia and all".

Though not knowing much about the hotel Tana did understand there was some type of scandal and illegal business going on before the Silver Jedi took over, meaning that number of patrons seemed to be a little lower than one would expect from such a nice hotel. Well that's what he gathered due to the lack of customers in the main lobby but he could be wrong, again not having much knowledge on the hotel as a regular or someone from on world. As for the payment, Tanasuki reaching into hi Yukata's pocket, pulling out his Silver Jedi identification, showing it to [member="Varindar Asyt"].

"Here you are, Tanasuki Yumi, shadow Jedi at your service".

"Let's see what comes up" Varindar informs [member="Tanaski Yumi"] after he showed his ID, inputting the information into the room tracking system. There was only one room that matched the criteria; the other suite vacancies were for three nights and less. "Your room will be the Yoshinaka Suite on ground floor" she announced while handing Tanasuki the keys to the Yoshinaka Suite.

An oasis of integrity and honesty in a desert of scum and villainy: that's how I ought to market this place, so long as I actually deliver on the honesty part. If this hotel takes off and I can't keep up with the demand, I may as well hike the prices while I try to get financing to get the third floor built, but not to the price the Ta'jars charged. Yet. The Ta'jars never understood that, if they want to charge such exorbitant prices, they need to make sure the guest experience is impeccable. I do realize that will mean extra staff will be required, if the third floor became a reality: an extra receptionist, an extra concierge, an extra chef or two, two extra housekeepers, she thought. Which meant increasing the room count from 29 to 44, and also expanding on the laundry room in the basement. It appeared, to her eyes, that the Ta'jar Blood Gang built the hotel with expansion in mind, but that expansion didn't materialize while the Ta'jar Blood Gang ran the place, especially where there are more seats in the restaurant than there are guests. In her mind, there should be as many seats in the restaurant as there are rooms, and perhaps a few extra seats. Her memories of the suites under the Ta'jars were that they were essentially the same in terms of amenities as the regular rooms were, with empty space where the dining rooms now are. With the changes made to the suites, she'd better make sure the suites actually fit the specifications: it was not enough for the suites not to trigger guest complaints, best practices dictate that hotel management should stay in the new rooms at least once after major overhauls.

"Speaking of the Yoshinaka Suite, I never got the chance to sleep in the new suite since the hotel was relaunched. For quality assurance reasons, to ensure that the specifications are actually met, if you agree, I should perhaps sleep the first night in the suite" she asked Tanasuki while guiding him to the Yoshinaka Suite.

Tanasuki waited patiently for [member="Varindar Asyt"] as she searched through the different room, raising an eye brow at the 'Yoshinaka' suite, "Well that is nice, I was not expecting an Atrisan styled room here, all the better I suppose, thank you". He gave a small respectful bow, taking the key and sliding it into his Yukata pocket.

Though surprised by the diversity of this place it probably served the hotel well, a planet such as Trandoshia not having the best reputation around, similar to that of Tatooine, more a watering hole for mercenaries and bounty hunters, not the ideal vacation spot. Couple that with the jungle and marshy like terrain that covered a good deal of the planet and the rather unsettling locals and you had yourself a rather low visitor count. Still being one of the few high class hotels on the planet and with special treatment for SJO members Tanasuki could see this place becoming rather popular for members and soldiers on leave.

He was just about to turn around an head for the room when Varindar spoke up again, "Oh, is that so, first we take a romantic swim together on the beach now you want to sleep together, my such an interesting proposition". He let the sentence hang in the air a little before continuing "Okay was kind of joking, but in all seriousness I do not mind you can sleep a many nights as you want, such a room probably has a great deal of space to go around".

"Let me check the welcome package, to see if the stock is in order. The executive suite is supposed to be able to house six people, whereas the regular rooms would house four people, and the welcome package is supposed to be scaled accordingly"

While, of course, [member="Tanaski Yumi"] may have come to realize that the artwork on the suite's walls may well be reproductions of Atrisian art, such as paintings of pre-Mythos Jar'kai and other Atrisian landscapes, and, of course, calligraphy, the welcome package is supposed to contain enough of the following items to be able to service six occupants: popcorn, ground caf, stationery and body care products. Perhaps a bit wasteful, to be sure, but integrity and transparency were key. In this bed she realized that, while the hotel was in a desertic region, the planet as a whole was more about jungles and other forest terrain, so she would instead try to market the Crown Nebula as a refuge of integrity and transparency in a jungle of scum and villainy. So she was one to go into the jacuzzi first, out of courtesy; ladies are usually to go first in such stays and she had to test the room's jacuzzi to ensure that it actually performs as she wants future guests to. But first she had to close the door shut and make sure that Tanaski isn't looking. She wouldn't want him looking at her in a jacuzzi bathtub, would she?

He found it a bit odd that [member="Varindar Asyt"] did not say anything in response to his flirting comment, true the two had not really spent much private time with one another besides their little swim together at the beach but he assumed some reaction. Perhaps his move youthful appearance had something to do with it, but despite looks Tanasuki was still an 18 year old male, even if he did like to tease members of the opposite sex every now and then. "Of course go ahead and check to make sure everything in place, I'll just be putting my luggage in the bed room", he gave the woman a short bow as the two departed way, himself headed to the king bed room, placing his luggage next to the draws and other containers.

"Well I can say without a doubt this place is amazing, feels just like the palace back on Atrisia, all but a little smaller, but by golly, I could get used to coming here, hmmm maybe I will bring the family along at some point". He placed a hand to his chin, pondering who many people that would make, "lets see that would be four people all together, maybe five if Varindar wants to stay in the suite again, anyways best wash up, also maybe see about these beauty products". Tanasuki walked down the hallway towards the bathroom, reaching out with his hand to open the door, not aware that his hostess had decided to try out the hot tub for herself.

[member="Tanaski Yumi"] realized that there were enough beauty products for six Wookiee-sized sentients, thanks to the architecture of the hotel being designed with Wookiees in mind when the Ta'jar Blood Gang built it, because the Ta'jars initially wanted to operate the hotel as a Wookiee trap. But as Tanaski was attempting to open the door, he would realize that it was locked, and would remain so until Varindar was done with the stay in the bubble bath. Hmmm... how relaxing, she thought, while her bodily tensions were being dissolved in a bubble bath. She could also feel her heartbeat slowing down, especially since her body being relaxed made her bodily functions slower, too. Once her stay in the bath was over, she would just get out, get dressed again and now she would be free to let Tanaski try the bubble bath, whose bubbles are mostly about jetted nozzles in the bathtub's marble walls. Thus far she hasn't been disappointed in the executive suite's amenities. While, of course, she realized that, while dirty, most of the furniture of the Ta'jar Blood Gang era was still in good condition, and hence those rooms for four or six, and also remaining mindful that a human's queen bed is a Wookiee's double bed if it was of the appropriate length, and likewise a human's king bed was a Wookiee's queen bed under the same proviso.

"The current prices won't last forever, especially if the hotel actually does take off and that I actually deliver on the hotel being a refuge of integrity and transparency in a jungle of scum and villainy. In fact, even accounting for Trandosha being a watering hole for mercenaries and bounty hunters, with the proper vacation packaging, 29 luxury rooms for an entire planet really isn't much. You could then sell safari tours with a hotel room for good measure, and perhaps, for some species, a locale like Trandosha's could be romantic, so a romantic getaway package is fair game, too"

Seeing that door was lock Tana pressed his ear against the door, vampiric sense able to hear the hot-tub going with ease, "ahh sorry did not know you were in there, trying out the hot tub is it big enough for two? might give it a go myself later". Leaving the woman to her beauty spar he went about exploring the suite a bit more, observing the different art work, utilities and entertainment that the room offered. Needless to say, he was very impressed with the quality, and he had not even tried the bed or other furniture yet, and that was only the tip of the iceberg compared to the entire hotel. While here visiting the pool, garden and restaurant was a must, dinning on fine food and with playful company made any event much more enjoyable.

Soon [member="Varindar Asyt"] came out of the bath room, joining him in the lounge room, elaborating more on the current room price and future plans, as well as a rather fitting name for such a high-class place on a rather undeveloped planet. "That is a rather fitting marketing plan for a place like this, could probably see rich trader and explorers using this place as a rest spot before a big adventure, though a romantic getaway? Perhaps you may need to add some couple rooms, like a single king-sized bed... oh would I be able to use the hot-tub now? It sounded very relaxing and enjoyable, yourself seeming to be more calm and refreshed".

"You are able to use the hot-tub now, but it's just big enough for one Wookiee-sized guest" she answered [member="Tanaski Yumi"]'s question.

But delivering on the integrity and transparency part was not the end of the story: if the guest experience I'm having in the Executive Suite can be maintained and replicated, all it takes is proper, truthful marketing, she thought, while having a pretty clear idea of what would a third floor be like. She knew that, even though the Crown Nebula was a boutique hotel, one Imperial Suite, twice the size of the Executive Suite, would be the crowning achievement of the hotel. The third floor's single-bed rooms would then be otherwise no different from the baseline rooms, except that the welcome package would be tailored for two occupants rather than four, but, thanks to the layout of the executive suites, there would be two varieties of single-bed rooms. One of which would be half the size of the executive suite and the other being slightly larger, on top of the existing two-queen bed rooms. So, if the third floor would house the Imperial Suite, right on top of the existing suites, taking the footprints of two executive suites, and the rest of the third floor were used for single-bed rooms, and the Imperial Suite would contain a formal reception room for 12, in lieu of a dining room, as well as a whopping four king beds, a walk-in closet and a kitchenette, on top of what's already in the executive suite, and the rest of the third floor would be occupied by single-bed rooms, then that would mean an additional 17 rooms, for a total of 46, and the Imperial Suite would cost triple the rate of an executive suite. And the staff required to run all the services! An extra floor will bring in extra revenue, but also nearly double my overhead expenses until I can pay the third floor off, which will probably be doable if I'm in position to get the third floor built in the first place, she thought.

"Most of the guests we have had since the Order seized the hotel from the Ta'jar Blood Gang were hunting or merc parties, and rich traders that hired or travelled with them. Solo bounty hunters, at this point, tended to either sleep in their ships or to rent rooms in less luxurious establishments. But I'm well aware that, just because one race finds an arrangement romantic, others may not. Once you're done in the bath tub, perhaps we can dine at the restaurant"

"Big enough for one Wookie hu, so it could hypothetically fit two humans, goo to know", standing up Tanasuki stretched his arms, limbering up for the soon to be relaxing bath. "It has been a while since I have used a hot-tub, may a times natural springs and heated pools, but the added feels of jets and so forth against your skins just make the experience all the more better". Finishing his small stretch the young boy proceeded to start walking down the hallway, stopping slightly, listening to [member="Varindar Asyt"] explain a little more on the state of the hotel, and also answering his previous inquiry into what type of guest stayed here.

It was as he expected, not real high class person stopping by just yet, though it was a good start, perhaps during their travels the merchants would talk about the hotel acting as a living advertisement. Perhaps in time word would spread about the paradise in a world of scum and villainy, slowly more and more patrons would arrive seeking to put distance between themselves and the hustle and bustle of busy lives.

"Ah yes, everyone has their own romantic get away's, I myself prefer the relaxed stuff, like nice evenings out on the beach, spending time together, but also enjoy a bit of fun sport, sparing and the occasional holo game and a lizard person may like hunting everyone is different". That was not including his love of fashion and more interment desires but those could be put aside for a later time, "as for dining together this evening, I would be more then happy, such a change to dine with a pretty woman does not come often".

With a small skip in his step the young Jin entered into the bath room, unlike its last occupant not bothering to the lock the door, besides she knew someone was in here and it was not like Tanasuki was one to be embarrassed easily. Stripping out of his Atrisian clothing he stepped into the hot tub, letting the warm water jets sooth and take him to a world of relaxation.

"I'll book a table for two right away; I find it more romantic around a candle-lit dining room table that is more appropriate for just the two of us than around a table designed for six, like this room" she told Tana before Tana could enter the jacuzzi.

Bumba's Eatery was the key area where [member="Tanaski Yumi"] could expect to be seated. Yes, she knew her body could somehow turn some heads, but she knew that, even with the light side being, with careful use, an anti-aging cream, she'd rather be loved for more than just a body. Now, she knew she wasn't a brainless beauty, but that she wasn't a genius either. One thing was for certain: she had to sample the table d'hôte for two, if she was to go to Bumba's Eatery for a romantic dinner, realizing that, in a five-star hotel, a gourmet restaurant was a must. And also hoping that the food is actually good enough to be worthy of her refuge of integrity and transparency: under the Ta'jars, she knew that the food was not always the best, especially with the staff saying that they would not eat from the hotel's restaurant even if it was a fringe benefit of their jobs. But with the proper level of autonomy - and accountability - given to the executive chef, perhaps the food will be worthy of a 5-star hotel. While Tana was in the locked bathroom for a jump in the jacuzzi, she decided to go wear this vibrant burn-orange dress before her test run of the restaurant.

Before entering the bath he gave a nod to [member="Varindar Asyt"] at her booking request, "A table to two with a romantic vibe to it sounds lovely, I am looking forward to it". Though not having a clear idea of what the restaurant was like Tanasuki expected it to be extravagant if the suite was anything to go by increasing his excitement once he had finished bathing, the hot tub being everything he had expected to be, loosening up muscles and joints. Still that was not the only reason for his excitement, dinning alone with another woman in a purposely romantic scene was not something that he had been exposed to before, it made him feel a little nervous about how things would go, but also made him wonder about Asyt more.

Was the woman dropping small hints of some kind? It seemed just a tad odd about her action so far, though it was not as if Tanasuki was complaining, though it did make him wonder how she viewed him. Was she using the young boy as a test run for another potential romantic partner that may come at a later date? or had the two developed some sort of bond after the beach party? It was often hard to tell, many female Jedis more or less treating him as another one of the girls, often forgetting he was male.

Getting out of the bath he quickly dried off, donning a nicer looking purple Kimono, exiting the bath and meeting up with Asyt in her simple but stylish dress,"My you are looking nice tonight, or day, shall we be on our way then"? Perhaps his slight teasing was getting a little old, but in this case he meant it, though not an overly fancy or extravagant her complexion and attire was a nice sight, but Tanasuki knew there was more to a woman then just looks. Her tempered personality, a kind caring like soul that had a strong will if what she was saying about this hotel proved true something that he rather liked in a person.

"Yes"

While, of course, beauty is a big draw, since I still took out a freedman's loan to get myself started, this is one of the few sets of clothes I have. Now I'd rather have a healthy dose of brains if I don't already have it; beauty alone doesn't go very far, she thought, reminded that, nominally, she lived at Silver Rest until the loan can be repaid. Once they step up inside the restaurant, the shiny central chandelier, wrought from glass made out of local Trandoshan sand, auxiliary chandeliers made with the same Trandoshan glass, and lavender walls, with white crown mouldings, she knew that any problems with the restaurant would probably come from the food itself. Of course, she had other staffers conduct test runs prior to relaunch, but delivering on this place being a refuge of integrity and transparency required her to personally sample the restaurant. whose pictures of satisfied guests and staffers lined up the area near the maître d'hôtel's podium, where the Vratix maître d'hôtel greeted them and guided them to their tables, at which point the menu was handed to them. Already requesting the candles narrowed down the possible tables: they had to be specifically requested upon booking. Also, they wouldn't be lit until the orders were taken. So when the Utai waiter approached [member="Tanaski Yumi"], she inspected the table d'hôte menu, which made her choose between four appetizers, four main courses and four desserts, and two rolls of bread in a basket, while the larger menu has been brought down to 30 items or so.

"May I take your order?"

"I'll be taking the table d'hôte for two, please"

"What it will be for you?"

"Asparagus soup, medium-rare karkan ribene, and pie à la mode"

Tnasuki gave a small bow to the woman as she lead the way to the restaurant, following at her side, arms placed in his Yukata's sleeves, a joyful smile planted across his race as the two walked down the hallway to the dinning room, an oh boy was is magnificent. Ture it did not wow him to the same extent as the palace back on Atrisa, but on a planet like this, using such fine decoration. 'This is quite the sight, and to be the manager of such a hotel, well that surely meant something with regards to her skills and smarts, force know I'd be in over my head even running just a simple street store' . He thought to himself as the couple? he wanted to say couple for some reason, sat down the the for two table, unlit candles placed around the table, a soft shadow enveloping the rather private area.

Sitting down he took a look at the menu, scanning through the odd words that lined the page, giving a small puzzled look, he understood the soup and some other items on the menu but the rest seemed to be alien to him. One of the problems with being a Jin, basic and similar languages just where so different to how he spoke, "I will have the Kakan Ribene too, well done please and " looking on the back of the menu he noticed some Atrisian style dishes "the motsunabe please". He replied handing back the menu and turning back to his companion, "well this is nice, was not expecting today to turn into a date".

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

Motsunabe? I've never had motsunabe before. To the extent that Tana clicked with me, there is no doubt anymore that the Crown Nebula actually delivers on the big-ticket items that are the vital revenue centers, and hence making event hosting a viable option, which was just not used at all by the Ta'jars, she thought, while the waiter lighted all six candles on their table, grouped in two candlesticks of three candles each. But if the restaurant actually makes the locals living in the region around the hotel eat there for fine dining, and that the restaurant is booked pretty solid every night, then seating a maximum of 52 just won't do at all, and expanding the menu can then be justified. Especially not if she got the third floor built with an additional 17 rooms. And then she would need to double the restaurant's capacity to keep up with the demand. Not to mention the room service demand: it would be clear to both [member="Tanaski Yumi"] and her that Bumba, the guy who ran the restaurant division, would need additional cooking staff, and additional waitressing staff, since, at 5-star establishments, sentients were preferred to droids. Of course, she has been one for eating bread prior to getting the asparagus soup. Or motsunabe.

"Perhaps you will let me have some motsunabe, and I'll let you eat some of my asparagus soup in return"

Tanauski was the exploration type when it came to food, but for this little event it was probably better to stick with stuff he knew he would like, to avoid embarrassing himself and Asyt. Glancing around slightly as the waiter walked away it seemed the place was quite full, though more so to the lesser then expected size then number of people, perhaps they had not gotten around to increasing the seating capacity of this place, something on the to do list if merchants and merc groups where going to stay here.

He looked back to Asyt upon hearing her question, her face illuminated by the candle light, the flames seeming to dance across her face from hi perspective, but in regards to sharing food. "Oh I do not mind, will be interesting to see if we like each others taste in food", he replied with a smile, a little eager to see what this pie à la mode was, guessing it was some sort of fancy pastry". Though most of all it was another little aspect added to the nigh which made it feel more like a date, sitting together, candle light, sharing food, sleeping in the same room, was she giving hints of some kind, just seemed a little too good to be true.

[member="Varindar Asyt"]

"Motsunabe, asparagus soup" the Utai waiter told the duet, with a tray containing two bowls under cloches, taking the cloches out in front of them.

Too good to be true, perhaps, just that she wouldn't do such a thing were it not of her desire to try the stuff herself, since there were major modifications made since she took over. Now that the asparagus soup and the motsunabe were delivered to the table, Now it was obvious that Bumba's was no longer turning the floor over just once per day, that is, served as many customers as there were seats in a day, but many times over; being able to serve 6-7 times as many customers in a day as there were seats, in a fine-dining context, was quite a lot, especially when serving three or more courses in a meal. But she did like what motsunabe quantity she felt was proper for her to eat, while she did let [member="Tanaski Yumi"] sample some of the asparagus soup. That was going to be a delicate operation, but it was his motsunabe, and she knew that she would sample that sort of thing only in limited amounts, with the original owner's permission. Varindar now had an idea of what leaving the nutritional decisions to the executive chef actually did to help the restaurant portion turn around, but the executive chef needed to be consulted for any project that involved the restaurant - even capital expenditures.

"I like the motsunabe, so, once you have eaten the asparagus soup, please tell me whether you liked the asparagus soup"

Tanasuki sat in a relaxed position as the two awaited their food, the meals coming a little quicker then he had expected, probably the reason they restaurant was able to serve so many people, fast elegant and using people too just added to it luxury feel. First came the soup and Motsunabe, the two appetizers being placed with their respective owners in a rather fancy looking manner and style, definitely a 5 star restaurant when it came to display. Starting off the meal it seemed Asyt wanted him to sample the soup first, himself obliging, taking a small sip of the creamy sauce like meal, thicker then miso soup that he was used to but a rich and flavorsome taste to it. Afterward he allowed Asyt to take a sample of his small meal of meat and fried vegetables in a small broth like liquid. "Well I am glad you like it, some people often find this style of food a little odd for their taste buds, as for your meal, it was different but I like it, the thick texture and light chicken taste was nice". It was also good to know each had a likable platter when if came to food, "Perhaps we can do some more meal sharing, in the future, if the soup is anything to go by other meals you like probably taste nice". That was if she agreed, no telling how much more of each other the two would see.
