Question What would your character actually purchase?

Now, this may seem like a silly question for the Chaos Community. However, what would your character genuinely wish to buy or ask for permission for from the Galactic Marketplace.

This question is mostly driven by personal motives, yet I believe I have a good selection of items for potential purchase on the The Trade Federation - HoloNet Catalog that can expand a character's arsenal of weapons, flotilla of warships or vehicles for direct engagement for our very small but no less valuable warposter community.

However I have noticed that my last interaction in that part of the forum was on March 12th, 2025. This is worrying for me as one of the corporate rpers on chaos to not see some sales to give my rp some extra credibility, now I am not asking for tons of replies but just enough to make the Trade Federation seem real beyond political rp.

So I'm asking what would your character actually need to buy from the Marketplace and how can I provide that for the community. By making more semi-unique submissions for the bounty board or more unique items, or by switching my focus away from the mundane to more obscure parts of the lore? which possibly no one has seen before or if they have its been a long time and some updating is required to bring it to 902 ABY.

Let me know your thoughts.

That is a fair question. I guess the problem comes down to a few factors. I'm sure for starters there are some folks who just go out of their way to make their own stuff. That's fine, of course, I usually fall into that camp myself. I've always wondered, at least in regards to the way that those catalogs are presented, if it's the lack of RP that makes them unappealing. Really it's just a simple transaction and confirmation. In contrast, the auction you're holding is getting a lot of engagement. Folks seem pretty drawn in as far as the setting and whatnot goes. Maybe there just need to be more IC opportunities to buy the goods of manufacturers. Market threads and such so that folks can interact in a more RP way over the process.

But idk, I could also just be overthinking it. Maybe that makes sense.

This is a valid take and I appreciate the response. I have noticed the shift towards more individual creations for sub-accounts instead of buying from a marketplace from a corporation which you may or not agree with In character so it wouldn't make sense for you to support them.

Or that the factory has been streamlined enough so that its accessible for everyone and we no longer require corporations to provide the same service they once did. I did notice more traffic for my auction with a defined setting more than just a blanket, approval or denial which is one of the ways in which I could push my products.

Maybe another Galactic Showcase would need to occur like the world fair once did. Or perhaps two factions competing with one another for some rare but useful tech to gain a military advantage and it be a plotpoint in a future story.

I can also see an appeal in a bi-monthly organized marketplace event where people can buy/sell factory goods. Maybe with a few goods put up for auction as well. Not super frequent, but enough that folks can anticipate it and plan around it.

Personally if you took requests I think that would be cool. For example I had someone build my characters ship and it was really nice because I didn’t know a lot about tech but now my character has a custom ship. It really helped for people like me who don’t know about building things as much.

So if you offered a place where people could explain their idea and you would make them custom pieces I think you would really get a lot of business.

I have a few pieces right now I want designed but don’t even know where to start for example.

That is a stellar idea and will be utilized. Thanks.
