What Once Was [Ben Watts]

Teya IV
Jedi Praxeum Ruins
@[member="Ben Watts"]
Somewhere different? and Old. Coci stood at the entrance of what was once the Jedi Teyan Praxeum, she looked up a the statue of a Jedi and pondered what had passed through the now ruined doorway. These ruins are remnants of the Old Republic, the Praxeum where once Master Simikarty taught and wrote a series of six books called the Teyan Apologia, based around how the Jedi could best serve the Republic.

The planet was also home to the Cave of Truth in which young Jedi Students underwent a test of their fears, anger and physical limitations. Seems I am visiting a lot of ruins lately, she thought and wondered why the force was leading her to such places. However, she is here not to sight see or explore but to meet someone. A prearranged meeting between herself and a returned Master to the Order, one most powerful. He had offered to train and she sent the message.

She only knew his name.

Things were different now and he embraced the change, he was not the bright eye leader of the Jedi, but instead an old worn down Master who maybe still had a little gas left in the tank. Some still remembered what he had done while others knew only his name. He liked it that way, though, he did not have a crowd of people following him around and trying to force information out of him. Most Jedi did not realize that patience was the most important thing to a Jedi, understanding the force like he did just did not happen overnight, it took many years of trial and error. Pain, suffering, despair, loss, but he still kept his head held high and a smile on his face.

He was not familiar with the girl he was to be training, nor was she familiar with him, but that was what would make the training better. Too much respect and you fear failing your Master, too little and you do not try, no respect was what he enjoyed most. Earning it from someone is what would truly teach her the value of his lessons. He was not a traditional teacher, if anything, his methods were extremely odd but proved effective in the end. Being a Jedi was more than preaching peace and calming of the mind. A Jedi had to remain steadfast in the eye of certain doom, they mustn't crumble under the pressure of potential failure, their mindset had to be the exact same as if they were sitting in their most comfortable zone.

He had time to set up his illusion, a masterful one, only a highly skilled Master would be able to see through it and even then it would be difficult. Though it appeared normal, Ben sat Indian style in the middle of the training area of the Praxeum, the old walls around him were broken down and covered in moss. Though he would appear very real, the man in the middle of the room was not Ben, it was a doppelganger. So real she would be able to feel the force rippling off of him and if she touched him she would feel what felt like flesh in her hands. His hood was pulled over his eyes and she could not see his face, but he sat quietly, waiting for the trainee. Her first test would commence shortly, and soon she would be consumed by the illusion, how she reacted would tell him all he needed to know.

Once inside the room, she would feel safe, as if the aura around her was protecting her. Comfortable, trusting, he produced an immense amount of lightside energy that even a few powerful Sith Lords had acknowledged that it comforted them. "Why are you here?" A simple question, but broad, the real answer was never found right off the bat. It had taken him years to discover why he really wanted to be a Jedi, but in the end, he did not like the answer he had received. This was more than likely the case for most people who discovered the truth, but with all truths, there was some comfort to be found if you looked in the right places.

Her feet moved across the ground in silence, not out of a wanting or design, but because of well worn path she walks within the shadows. Entering further into the ruins of the old Praxeum she looked up into the sky as it fell open to her eyes, a shimmering haze filtered the sun's rays and shrouded the area in a soft pinkish hue. Coci's eyes, as black as the night, returned to her path and pierced the fallen stone that littered the area. A strong pull of the force is present, as if the Jedi of old are still roaming the grasses and their gentle whispers on past events rested in the haze. It is strangely calming and reassuring and she allowed it to wash over her.

The ability to be able to see more then most, a gift of sight that has served her well over her life, now told her of a figure of a man sitting deep within the ruins. For a moment she stood still and watched and observed, through the force there is no sense of malice, however naturally cautious, she would assess the situation before proceeding forward. Her eyes picking up a slight shimmer of light dancing around the man but she could not be certain as the haze of the day interrupted and informed the scene around her, light seemed to dance around the entire place, off the stone and the grass and the moss growing on them.

She began to walk closer and then past him a further distance before turning to face the seated figure. A low voice spoke as she did so, and she realised it was the Master Jedi she had come to meet. A simple question?, no not really and one she found herself answering more and more.

"To learn", she gave her simply reply, but did not move. "To learn to be the best I can be".
