Dominion Welcome to the Republic, Beaches! [THR Dom of Truuine, Gydine and Nahkisa]

w7PSPIC.png

This is the High Republic Dominion of the Truuine, Gydine and Nahkisa superhex.

On each of these three worlds we will run individual PvE scenarios. Each location will have a villain, and each location will have a die-roll fuelled lottery to decide the disaster you will face.

Once the thread goes live, you will be given 96 hours (approximately) to post, and make your die rolls in your chosen objective. You may send different characters to different objectives. At the end of that 96 hours, the cumulative total of all die rolls of all involved will determine which event is triggered.

Only in post die rolls will be accepted. Forgetting or choosing not to roll will alter the result, which is great!

All die rolls will be 1d20.

Make sure you indicate in your post which objective you are posting too.

Nestled in the southern peaks of Triuune is the boutique ski resort of Wintdas. Its gentle and extreme slopes make it a perfect location for novice and daredevil alike. Small A-frame cabins dot the landscape, which is mostly dominated by the large industrial looking central compound, temporary home to holidaymakers — permanent home to someone far more sinister.

Neither crime lord, nor mad genius, Garlok Tal is more insidious than they all. Or so he likes to think. He has only one task in mind, the infiltration and takeover of the High Republic aristocracy. Even if it means eliminating a few along the way.

The oblivious will enjoy a lovely time on the slopes, exploring ice caves and skating on frozen lakes. The aware will investigate while passing themselves off as holidaymakers, neither will be able to prevent Garlok Tal’s murderous attempts.

Possible events based on cumulative die results in this objective:
0 - 1Cryoquake rips the planet open, killing all.
2 - 40The gondalas immediately stop in place. Ski lifts cease to move. And Tal’s henchmen begin to cut the cables, threatening to plunge all to their doom.
41 - 80Tal’s technicians reprogram the snow machines to turn them into snow canons!

Giant ice spikes are being shot at you from all angles.
81-140The avalanche warning sounds. But there is no avalanche. A stampede of sentients threatens all present, as resort goers panic and seek safe rooms…which promptly lock, and air begins to deplete.
141-199A freak storm hits (totally not a weather machine) and the blizzard brings visibility to almost zero.
200+Avalanche!

Gydine is home to The Trixkellion, a resort known to only a few privileged clientele, which has been recently opened up to the general public — so long as they are wealthy.

Behind the scenes Emlo the Hutt is desperate for cash as the Black Sun fails to fill her coffers. She will stop at nothing to keep her business afloat. For her it is a matter of personal honour, especially after her father said she would never amount to anything (in Huttese, of course).

The oblivious will enjoy a lovely time at the spa, mud pools and saunas. The aware will investigate while passing themselves off as holidaymakers, neither will be able to preventEmlo’s dastardly schemes! Muahahahahaha!

Possible events based on cumulative die results in this objective:
0 -1Super volcano eruption wipes out all life on the planet.
2 - 40The droid butlers malfunction? NO, they were programmed for this!

The oblivious are taken as hostages! The aware must navigate the maintenance section to find a way to eliminate the droids.
41 - 80The doors to the saunas lock. The access ladders to mudpools retract. The spa’s become ray shielded. No one will escape unless they pay double!

Some may have been stuck on the outside, but most will be trapped.
81-140In his greed, Emlo dug too deep. From the depths of the Trixkellion underground mud oceans rises the great terror from the deep!

A massive serpentine beast attacks the facility.
141-199Bounty Hunters descend on the location, informed by Emlo that wealthy targets are available for the taking — so long as he gets a cut.

NPC or PC bounty hunter characters welcome.
200+Boiling mud flood! And eventual eruption!

On the pristine world of Nahkisa, the Oona Van Beach Resort has played cover to a scientist — now rogue — formerly sponsored by the Black Sun Syndicate. His research into aquatic life, tide based power generation and sun block has the potential to change the galaxy.

Hoping to attract new funders for his research, the scientist — Dr Archibald Cortex — is about to test his experiment out on the unsuspecting holiday makers at the Resort. You can play a holiday maker, or an investigator posing as a holiday maker. Either way, you will be too late to stop his scheme!

How will you fair?

Possible events based on cumulative die results in this objective:
0 - 1Solar flare wipes out all life on the planet.
2 - 40Mutant sharks with engrafted laser weapons attack beach goers.

The oblivious will be stuck out on boats, boards or sundry flotation items.
41 - 80The water suddenly retreats from the shore. The horizon rises to meet the setting sun. Tidal wave!
81-140Jellyfish that are far more acrobatic than they should be begin attaching themselves to swimmer’s backs, taking control of the victim and setting them loose on a parasite controlled attack on the unaffected populace.
141-199The gentle breeze becomes a gale. The gale becomes a cyclone. The storm hits.
200+Kaiju crab attack!

Go forth and relax.

Snow drifted across the southern peaks of Triuune in near silence, settling over the boutique slopes of Wintdas like a final polish applied before inspection. The planet’s jewel glittered precisely as advertised. Pristinely maintened runs. Discreet cabins, something to be careful of for sure. And a central compound of glass and steel rising from the alpine hush like a monument to curated leisure.

Dominic stood at the terrace rail, gloved hands resting lightly upon it, posture composed and expression measured. Only days earlier he had stood on Moorja amid smoke and ruin, rescued from calamity by Bastila before the chaos could claim him.

Today, he needed a holiday. But as always, he found it in duty. The Republic required a display.

In the wake of Black Sun’s decline across this region, the High Republic had moved swiftly to court the elite businesses that once prospered under syndicate protection. Stability was the message. Opportunity the promise. Wintdas was one of the stages.

Thus Dominic had arrived with ski equipment he had no intention of using and a security detail attempting to look normal. They lingered nearby in tasteful civilian attire, their presence a quiet concession to recent history. Rest and recreation had been printed on the itinerary. Reassurance was the true objective.

Around him, magnates laughed too brightly. Investors toasted the mountain air. Conversations drifted between lift lines and lounge fires, thick with the scent of capital seeking alignment. Every polished boot and fur-lined cloak represented a future alliance waiting to be coaxed into loyalty.

Dominic allowed himself the faintest smile as he surveyed the slopes below.

If the Republic could make these peaks feel safe, prosperous, untouched by the chaos that had gripped the Colonies, then the mountains would need to become more than a resort. They would need to become proof.

Yet habit, kept his gaze moving. Staff here. Guests there. Lift cables swaying gently overhead.

Paradise, he had learned, was often most fragile when it appeared invulnerable.

For now, he would play his role. The Republic had come to relax, and give the aura of calm. Dominic had come to be seen.

Lily was excited at the opportunity to relax and was keen on seeing what this beach was going to be like. It had been a long time since she had taken a break from the constant training, fighting and joining as many missions as she could. The beach seemed like the ideal location to take a short breather and focus on spending time on herself. Feel the sun on her pale skin, as well as possibly going for a swim or lay on the beach and reading. While it was likely to be a Lady Velvet novel or articles on combat training. They were what Lily considered to be relaxing reads. Something that meant she wasn't focusing too hard so the mind could still enjoy a break.

The beach seemed a perfectly quiet location for the time being and there was plenty of fantastic views as Lily approached. She approached the sand and felt the heat of the sun in the sand as she walked. It was definitely a warm day and she was curious to see how her skin handled the heat. Lily had already placed a decent sun lotion on her skin to protect it, given how pale she was, Lily knew that she would likely burn instantly if she did not do that.

Finding the perfect spot that was a good distance from the water but close enough that if she decided to take a dip, then Lily wouldn't have to wander far. Lily threw down her towel and sat down, pulling out her holo-reader, Lily flicked through the options on what to read. What would catch her interest today and what world could she find herself getting lost in. The Echani was very thankful that she was able to get the chance to rest, the new role and responsibilities had been a big adjustment for Lily. She was not expecting to be on the council so soon after her knighting and wanted to prove that she was worthy of the position.

Raymjaar didn’t like sand.

It was coarse, rough, and irritating, and gets everywhere. Which was just his luck Ray dragged to Nakisha: a resort world with an ocean load of sand. Ray didn’t bother to wear sandals for his mission instead wearing white shoes that he ordered on the Holonet. The suns rays beat on Rays dark brown skin and he took a sunscreen lotion from his pocket, squeezed it, and rubbed some of the substance on his neck. Ray had layers of sunscreen around the exposed areas of his skin, but he never liked being in the Sun for too long.

“Why did you force me to go here Dad?” Ray moaned trudging along on the sand. “If you thought I wasn’t worth much, then why assign me to guard a damn Jedi?”

Sure there weren’t more Jedi around now and days, but Ray had watched their feats on the Holonet. He’d witnessed one Jedi destroying an entire battalion with a wave of her hand. Why the hell would a Jedi need protection?! Especially for someone as ridiculously average as Ray?

Though he was a noble, Ray was far below the totem pole to marry. He was a junior branch for House Kortu which meant his prospects for anything was slim. He was deemed nothing special by his parents and his grades in Naboo high school were average. Ray had no prospects lined up mainly because his Dad thought he wouldn’t amount to nothing.

Fresh off graduation, Ray immediately enlisted in the Republic Defense Force hoping to make something out of himself, but his Dad ordered Ray to go to this damned planet and serve as a bodyguard. “I got basic training in a couple of months.” Ray grumbled. “I don’t have time for this!”

He entered the beach house looking around for the Jedi he was supposed to be guarding. “Hello?” Ray called out sighing. “Are you here ummm Jedi? I’m your bodyguard and I’m supposed to be guarding you.”

Boy that came out awkward.

Lily stood at the surf’s edge, toes digging into the sand as the water rolled over her feet making her sink a little deeper. Wind tugged at her hair and she closed her eyes taking a deep breath, feeling the tension bleed out of her as the water lapped at her feet.

It had been months. Months of running, of falling from one fight into the next. No matter where she set her feet there was always something. A job to be done or a stand to make. Hell even when she tried to walk away from it all, the next step just thrust her straight back into the middle of the war between light and dark.

She dug her hands into the pockets of her shorts, opening her eyes as she turned to walk along the beach front. She needed a break, even if it was just for a day, she just needed space to breathe, to think about her next move and actually make a plan instead of always reacting.

Lily had tried hiding from it, she’d attempted the simple life on Jaibrek, but the Tof’s increasing aggression following the Planeshift had lured the shadow of the Sith Order. No matter where she went, they were there.

She had to pick a side sooner or later.

"Hutts are gangsters."

He muttered the words as he walked down one of the many halls in the resort. Rather than being adorned in his Jedi robes, he'd elected to wear a pair of normal slacks and a short-sleeved white button up with the top two buttons undone. It allowed his skin to breathe and that was much appreciated in the oppressive heat of the resort location. Maybe it was just his lack of experience with resorts, but he didn't understand the attraction to being hot and sweaty just because you were near a large body of water. It was difficult to make himself appear as though he was having fun when he felt miserable. All he really wanted was a glass of water, and that was why he made his way into the bar, doing his best to avoid getting close to anyone so he didn't feel even hotter.

The bartender was a droid, not unexpectedly, and it rolled its way in his direction after serving a drink to a pale colored twi'lek.

"What'll ya have?" it asked in a voice that resembled a muted loudspeaker announcement.

"Water with ice," he replied, leaning against the smooth, cold stone of the bar between a pair of seats.

"You got it."

Droids don't judge unless they're programmed to. He was certain that a living bartender would have judged him for his order, but the droid just went to fill it. He had to at least give it to whoever was running the place, whichever Hutt syndicate it was, that at least they were interested in retaining customers by having more robotic staff than living. The fact that it made the place cheaper to run was, he was sure, just a side effect of the decision.

The sound of ice clinking against glass brought him back to reality and he turned to take the glass that had been placed before him. Inside was a crystal-clear liquid with a singular, spherical piece of ice that rolled as he swished the glass around. He didn't do that to seem like a connoisseur of water, but because he was interested in seeing the ball of ice roll around in the water. This was not a luxury he'd ever had before. Maybe it was more accurate to say it was a luxury he had never participated in. This was his first assignment involving a resort and he had never taken the opportunity to visit one on his own before because he was more interested in working than he was in relaxing. He could meditate while between flights in order to relax.

As he brought the glass to his lips and allowed a small amount of the cool liquid to pass to his tongue, where he rolled it around to moisten his dry palette, he couldn't help but feel that something was off in the resort. Well, he knew something was off because he'd been sent there to investigate, but now the hair on the back of his neck was bristling and the smell of ozone lingered in his nostrils. His eyes narrowed as he looked around the bar, assessing each and every person present. Something was going to happen soon, and he felt the inexplicable urge to get people to safety, but his senses were being clouded by something and keeping him from determining where the danger was and how to avoid it. For the moment he had to exercise patience.

Bettany pottered about the beach house getting ready to hit the sand. She wore a floor length white off the shoulder sun dress. She was grabbing her purse and sunglasses when she heard footsteps and spun round to the lobby.

“Are you here ummm Jedi? I’m your bodyguard and I’m supposed to be guarding you.”

Bettany raised her eyebrows at the man who couldnt be all that much older than her, but he has the right ID banded to his arm and the agency had told her this might happen. "Hi?" she said with an inflection. "I take it Carl's kid is still sick?... Ami, take a note, send flowers to Carl's daughter." There was a few pings of droid binary from the next room, and then silence. Bettany looked the man in front of her up and down and then gave a little shrug of whatever before walking out the door and beckoning him follow her. She had soft white sandles on that flipped as she walked down the wooden veranda and onto the perfect white sand.

"So, first off. You arent guarding a jedi, you are guarding a movie star. Me and Carl have this code, ninteynine out of hundred he calls me Bettany, or Betty, thats fine too. But if he needs me to shut up and listen, its Miss Sal-Soren. You know the sort of thing, creepy fan making a move, guy with a long angle lens in the bushes..." she tailed off, waving her hand in the air with her briefing to the new bodyguard. Then she finally got into the sand and felt her shoes sink into its soft embrace, tiny little gems rolled over the edge of her shoes and she let out a sigh. This was it, this was what she came for. She placed her sunglasses onto her face and then turned to Ray. "So what am I calling you?"
