Boethiah
Dark Messiah
Hey guys,
I had a pretty cool idea that I'd like to bring forth for discussion.
One aspect of roleplay that I feel is very important for a faction--especially a non-canon faction--is giving everyone the opportunity to contribute to its lore, storyline, and purpose. So how do we make it so that your actions are meaningful and that you always have the option to act?
My thought is creating a weekly mission or quest of sorts, a different task each week that must be completed.
The story, objectives, and theme will be completely different and each will offer different paths for how it may be completed and everyone will have the opportunity to do so on their own, or with a group. There is no need to wait for people if you're a quick poster and no need to hurry up if you're a slower poster; but if you want to write with others you still can.
Essentially, once a week I will drop a mission in the faction's roleplay forum, then you will start a thread in the regular RP forums (public or private) and follow the story, clues, and objectives I gave you to complete it.
All who participate will be given a reward for their efforts in the form of a unique factory item, and the faction will get to vote on the best thread. Whoever wins that thread will have their actions reflect on the faction as a whole.
Example: There's a mission to hunt down a radical terrorist attempting to kill the Host Lord. You must find out who they are, and either convince them to give up their task, arrest them, or kill them. Person A does a solo thread where they followup on clues to discover this persons identity. Person B & C do a group thread and try to contact the terrorist by posing as potential henchmen for hire.
Once each completes their story, they will be rewarded. Then the faction will choose the best one. So let's say Person A was decided to have had the best story, their actions and outcomes will become Primeval canon and be reflected in future threads and storylines.
With that explained, I'd like to know your thoughts on the matter and whether or not this is something we're interested in.
