- Powerful: The LRS Rifle was designed for one reason, range. In order to effect this the Rifle had to be incredibly powerful, more powerful than any previously developed Sniper Rifle. This was achieved through the use of the VT-Proton Round. A newly developed high powered cartridge that provide enough stability for this rifle to shoot over incredible distances while still maintaining effectiveness. The nature of this weapon allow it to fire a distance of over two miles, when properly used. To make this possible the weapon is fitted with a highly advanced scope that includes a targeting computer, allowing the Rifle itself to make necessary adjustments for it's shot to actually properly hit.
- Heavy: As one might expect of a rifle such as this it is incredibly heavy. Though Vanir Technologies attempted to keep the rifle as light as possible, such things simply aren't possible when a weapon is designed like this. Due to how much force the VT-Proton Round creates the weapon has to suffer through a tremendous amount of recoil and stress. To compensate for this the weapon must be designed with high quality materials that can undergo such forces without breaking down.
- High Maintenance: A weapon such as the LRS Rifle is going to be, no matter what, very sensitive. In order to properly function the LRS needs a lot of love and care. It needs to be cleaned and maintained often, looked after as though it were a newborn child.
The Vanir Technologies Fringe Science Department has always been about pushing the envelop. This has usually been in the category of weapons. Vanir has created many weapons systems that would fall into the 'out of ordinary' category. This includes Particles Beam Rifles, Disruptors, explosives, and several other weapons that other companies do not make. The latest in this line of weaponry is the Vanir Technologies Long-Range Stealth Rifle.
Though a bit of a misnomer, the VT-LRS is designed to be what is essentially a miniature Proton-Cannon.
The weapon is simple in design, looking not much different than many other Sniper Rifles currently in the galaxy.
It is the inner-workings of the rifle that make it so unique. Utilizing Vanir Technologies new Proton Round Ammunition the LRS Rifle is capable of an effective range of more than two miles, making it the perfect weapon to kill someone without ever getting close to them.
The VT-LRS achieves it's mass range through a combination of factors. First is the VT-Proton Round that it fires. This ammunition was designed as a miniaturized version of what most Proton Cannons in the galaxy fire, a singularly charged projectile that can do incredible amounts of damage due to the energy circulating through it. This ammunition was then designed around, constructed to have the best possible platform for it to be fired from. What eventually came into being was a weapon system made of a mix of Fiberplas for weight reduction, Durasteel for Stress absorption, and Dallorian Alloy for Barrel Quality.
All of these things together allow for the LRS to function as a highly effective long-range weapon system.
Of course, the weapon doesn't have to be used at maximum range. It is arguably just as effective, if not more so, as closer range. When used at it's full capabilities however the LRS has a built in targeting system that allows the user to compensate for the distance of their target. This system ensures that even at maximum range a well trained sniper should be able to hit their target. It should be noted however that this Targeting system does not do the work for you, it still requires and expert at the helm to utilize properly.
All in all the LRS was designed to be an extremely long range sniper-rifle.
