Strengths:
Cargo Capacity: The Gundark Class Heavy Freighter, as its name implies is designed as a cargo carrier. Eighty two percent of this ship is entirely dedicated to the carrying of cargo. Most of the vessel is nothing but empty space. This can be seen in the unique design of the ship itself. The vessel is bulky, massively expanded, and it appears to have open spaces designed right into it. The bridge sits atop the vessel itself and the engines as well as reactor are located directly at the back of the vessel itself. The carrying capacity of this ship is a match for a ship one and a half times it's size, standing at thirty six thousand metric tons. The ship is of course directly designed for this, having access ports directly atop the vessel in massive bay doors as well as a singular door to access the hull. The Ship also has an access ramp at its bottom that leads directly into the cargo hold where large vehicles can be loaded.

Defenses: The Gundark is unlike other heavy freighters in that it is actually well defended. Though compared to other ships of its size the Gundark is severely underarmed the Ship itself does have emplacements. At the prow of the ship sit twenty proton torpedo launchers and at the bottom of the vessel located on swivel turret mounts are four Vanir Technologies Particle Beam Gatlings. These weapons, when activated, have an enormous power draw but also keep the ship, and its cargo, well defended.

Weaknesses:
Can't Turn: As one would expect from such a massive and lumbering vessel the Gundark has the maneuverability of a space potato. The ship itself, though equipped with massive engines, is entirely slow and unable to turn. The vessels turn radius is equal to an Imperial Star Destroyer's, an immense and massive liability when attempting to escape from an attack.

Reactor Spikes: Unfortunately due to its four unique weapon systems the Gundark suffers from reactor spikes. These spikes, though usually not dangerous, can be quite devastating when one hits at the wrong time. When too much power is drawn from the reactor, say shields, engines, weapons, and additional internal systems, the reactor aboard the vessel will begin and output overload, drawing too much energy and beginning to fail. It the reactor is not shut off(rendering the vessel inert) it will explode in a rather large blast.

Description:
The Gundark Class Heavy Freighter came about as a necessity for Vanir Technologies to meet its own shipping needs.

Though many heavy freighters already exist in the galaxy and are used by many companies, Vanir Technologies has a need to become self sustaining. The beginnings of this push for a self sustained corporation was the creation of the Kvas Mining Corporation. This company holds several key mines all over the Neona system. These mines produce and create ores for refinement into durasteel, dallorian alloy, fiberplast, and many other raw materials required for both construction and creation of many Vanir Technologies products.

Though Kvas had the facilities to gather and even process some of the ores the issue still came with transporting the processed materials to the necessary production facilities. Of course this need was usually met by contracting outside companies, such as Arceneau Trade Company, but as mentioned earlier Vanir Technologies was pushing towards Self Containment.

Knowing this, and knowing that shipping would become a larger and larger issue, Vanir Technologies began to production of the Gundark Class Heavy Freighter.

The Vessel, as with many other Vanir Technologies Products, was designed to push the limits of its functions. Due to this the Gundark comes equipped with more cargo capacity, a heavier reactor, and slight defenses against attacks. The ship itself is not greatly placed away from the standard of Heavy Freighters, but the slight modifications and additions placed upon it by Vanir Technologies make the ship somewhat unique within the range of current shipping vessels. The ships are primarily classed as Freighters and Cargo Carriers, however the insides of the ship, as well as its outside, are so simply constructed that they could easily be converted to suit another function.

The Gundark is an incredibly modular vessel because of this.

Currently these ships are used by Vanir Technologies to transport most everything, though the vessels are open-market and purchasable by anyone.
