Biography: Visser Chernykh was born on the former Republic Agriworld of Chandrilla. It was a time of relative safety and prosperity within the Galactic Core. So a boy could dream big and young Vis did. He wanted to be like his heroes and pilot a starfighter.
He decorated his room with models of all the great fighters. Holos were obsessively watched and he would pretend to be in the cockpit. The boy took all the right courses and studied hard to get into the Academy. He did just that at 18.
It was everything he imagined it would be. It was more than that. Chernykh excelled and soon graduated as a Flight Officer. Behind the stick of a fighter craft he could call his own.
Then it all began to go downhill after a few short and glorious years. The Sith came and then the Mandalorians. Soon the Republic was overwhelmed and he found himself shot down over Kashyyk. Vis was lucky to survive the crash.
He was picked up by medics from the wreckage and spent weaks in bacta. Visser recovered fully from bruises and broken bones. But he couldn't recover his dream. It was broken now and no amount of meds could heal it.
Chernykh was grounded and he spiraled into oblivion. The young man took up heavy drinking and deathsticks to forget. Months of this went by with him drifting in the black. But fortune smiled on him one night.
An Imperial Agent chanced upon him at a bar. They spoke and he was offered a chance. A chance to have his wings back. To truly live again.
He was quickly commissioned into service after more than proving himself in simulators and training. Given a Lieutenant's rank, Visser pushed himself harder than ever. With the reformation of the elite Inferno Squadron he was a natural pick.
