Vincible (primarily Ovmar, with special guest stars Thrax and Kitt Solo)

"What, Thrax? This is our first serious job together. Might give him a subcontractor berth if he's reliable, or even partner up if he winds up being good enough. Dead useful, I'll admit -- not many folks say no to that hammer. Audacious as all feth, too; if the brick house had objected to us taking you off, he'd have carried her out over his shoulder, no matter how many billions she's worth. Half tempted to see what he'd do on your corporate warfare shindig."

What would Hannibal think of her now? A seasoned bounty-hunter hiring out other hunters?

She'd argue it was a form of delegation.

A pair of MK2 bolters, blaster, cylindrical baton-like staff, hydrospanner, and wrench clung to her belt, hips, and thigh. Fingers clenched at her sides. No matter how well armed she was, how many battles she faced, dragons fought, and throne-breakers caught she was still fighting the butterflies of nervousness in her stomach.

Facing Ovmar would not be easy.

She stopped outside Rekali's ship.

"Kitt Solo here. Got your message and got your creds. Permission to come aboard?"

"On my way."

She stepped aboard and soon found herself face-to-face with [member="Jared Ovmar"] and the seasoned, old-guy.

"Hey darlin,'" myrtle-ellipses traveled up to the suspended Fringe high-counselor. "We've got some things to talk about. Look suits you. Hope you ain't itchy."

She pulled a cred-chit card from her jacket-pocket and held it between her middle and forefinger. "One hundred fifty-thousand, as promised." Attention diverted from Jared to look Ember up and down.

"Nice ship."

Ember took the chit, deposited it, and wired exactly half of it to [member="Thrax"], who was presumably off hammering things.

"My pleasure, ma'am." He tossed a two-finger salute at [member="Jared Ovmar"]. "Cheers. See you around, Ovmar."

[member="Kitt Solo"] [member="Ember Rekali"]

Ovmar had been pretty busy staring at his nose, cross-eyed, trying to will away the fervent itch that had spawned there a few minutes, hours ago. It hadn’t gone so well sadly.

He winked at the salute, wasn’t much more he could do with the current state he was in. ‘It was a pleasure, Rekali. I will drop ya a call in a few.

Then the Sith Lord, not Sith Lord yawned and aimed his attention at Solo.

You know… holocalls are a thing.

"You know, you're not really listed in the public directory. And, you've been a little hard to track down lately. Too many female suitors, I'm sure. Please spare me any details."

The master empath forced a brief smile that didn't reach her eyes.

"I've got questions for you Jared and I don't think Ember would mind if we used his ship for a little while longer with you in that lovely contraption. What can you tell me about the day you went to Lake Cordumere Chalet on Rudrig?"

She hoped he wouldn't be stupid enough to try lying to an empath.

The Sith Lord, not Sith Lord sighed and then mentally shook his head. Sheer arrogance, mixed with a firm believe that no consequences were bound to actions made. Had he ever been so young? Who was he kidding? He had been so much, much more worse.

And yet there was a simple lesson that had to be learned and taught here, where better to begin… then at the beginning?

So Ovmar looked at her, cogs turning in his head and then the Force Field dropped, and with it the Force that had kept the Sith Lord imprisoned.

He landed neatly on his feet, finally scratched his nose and then walked out of the tube.

The look Jared gave her was no longer of the eccentric billionaire, playboy, philanthropist with the lazy grin.

It was the look of an irked Sith Lord who had made cities go insane with the thought of his mind.

Now that that charade is over, let's get some fresh air.

His eyebrow raised itself, daring.

The MK2-bolter already drawn as Jared hit the deck eased itself slowly back into the holster. She doubted Ember would forgive her if she shot up his ship. And it seemed he did mind if they stayed for a few questions. They both did.

"After you, Jared." If she was fazed by the man's actions, it didn't show.

She motioned for the sith-ish lord forward as she followed him off the bounty hunter's ship. "You still haven't answered my question."

[member="Kitt Solo"]

The Sith-ish Lord lit up a cigarette, while slunging his bag with possession on his back, which he had grabbed before leaving the room where he had been waiting for Solo. The bag wasn’t all that interesting, one ring, one datapad, an illustrious cape and that was about it really.

Ovmar wasn’t really the guy to carry a lot of poodoo with him.

Behind him Solo said something to him, a question, packed in a statement.

‘Nope.’ he agreed with her, while puffing out some smoke that may or may not hit her in the face.

They’d finally disembark from the ship and Jared watched silently as the Coronet left them on the planet, there was a lazy grin on his face again, annoyance forgotten for the moment.

Part of him had wanted to reprogram the Coronet’s navigation systems. A one-way trip to the most nearby sun would have been a fitting revenge scheme, but then again… he had grown rather fond of Rekali in the short time they were snarking together.

Instead he simply modified a few lines in the back-end of the waste systems. The next time [member="Ember Rekali"] tried to visit the bathroom… a nasty surprise would be waiting for him.

Said nasty surprise wasn’t even that bad, ‘least not compared to the glitch in the ventilation system which in a few weeks would start excreting air mixed with some foul odour. The ship would have to be vented for days.

Truly a Sith Lord’s wrath.

Burnt strands of chestnut-hair, close to her sister's shade, blew across her shoulders as they stepped outside. Fingers perched on her hips, steely-gaze un-moving from Jared's carefree expression. Now that, that was irking.

"Is this how our holocall would've gone?"

Dry-amusement littered her tone. "Answer my question, Jared."

[member="Kitt Solo"]

‘Nope. I would probably have been more helpful.’ another puff came and went, before Ovmar turned around to look at Solo, with the Coronet gone. ‘Let me pose a question to you, miss Solo.’

He tilted his head slightly, as if something puzzled him.

‘Why do you think I am going to answer any of your questions?’

She rolled her shoulders. Neck cracked. "Jared. I just found out my sister died a few months ago and one of the men I trusted and looked up to was involved. I'm tired. I don't have the patience for this. We've gone over this. Sometimes you're a hard man to find. Putting a bounty on your head was one of the fastest and definitely not cheap ways of getting in touch with you."

"If you have any decency at all, I'm asking for you to, please, answer my question."

[member="Kitt Solo"]

And there it was.

Ovmar desperately wished to flash her the finger, tell ‘er to go kriff herself and then waltz away from that planet like it ain’t nobody's business. But she hit him with the motherload, she pushed exactly the button that would have given her the right response.

Had she tried to threaten him she would have found herself on her ass within two seconds, but this? This was impossible for him to simply counter with a jest, his lazy grin and the flashing of his backside.

With a sigh he dropped the cigarette, crushed it and snapped his finger. A pulse radiated from him, akin to a simple ionic wave it would temporarily disable all tech in the vicinity. Hopefully she wasn’t one of those retro girls with pacemakers, that would have been awkward.

‘You always knew how to handle me, Solo.’ she would feel resignation coming from him. ‘Fine, you are describing the place of an old business meeting. You know what I am, you know what circles I move through. Only one thing, understand that this can’t leave this planet, can’t leave our conversation, deal?’

Myrtle-ellipses stared as she regarded the sithish lord quietly. A small amount of hope fluttered in her chest as she felt the first real raw emotion from Jared since this rendezvous. The layers of his faux care-free attitude were temporarily peeled away. Lips pressed tightly together as she pushed her palms against her thighs, quelling the threatening tremble of digits.

"Deal. Tell me everything."

There was a sting behind her eyes but she kept in check. Barely.

[member="Kitt Solo"]

Somehow Ovmar doubted she would be able to keep these things to herself, but in the grand scheme of things it mattered little, there were no recording devices in the vicinity - he would have been able to sense them - and so his reputation was protected for the time being.

Yet… yet… he wondered what this was all about.

Words began to spill from his mouth, just as he crunched the downed cigarette under his foot; a worthy analogy if there was any.

Ain’t much to tell. As I said, it was a business meeting at first. Simply the richest, brightest men and women of the galaxy coming together to mingle, create meaningful connections for business. That was when we got wind from one of our… partners. We found out that one of the major players in the game, wasn’t playing fair, wasn’t following the rules of proper engagement if you will.

Ovmar shrugged.

We found out he was impersonating an innocent woman and keeping her in a comatose state as to be able to control her company through her identity. Now don’t get me wrong, we aren’t a charity most of the time, but some things go too far even for us.’

So we put a stop to it, made sure all the people who weren’t involved found business elsewhere and then engaged the man. Ain’t nothing else to talk about really, we fought ‘im, we beat ‘im and that was about it.’

After finishing he scratched his nose a little and then looked at her with a question.

Anything else?

The breath she didn't know she was holding left her lungs slowly, painfully. "Yes." There was so much she wanted to know. Her informant told her a very different story. She knew names. Not all but some and Jared was doing a very god job of protecting them. But she didn't care about them. She just wanted to know one detail.

"Wasn't there a woman with this man?"

The air around them stilled and it would feel as if Jared's emotions were being heightened.

[member="Kitt Solo"]

‘Listen, I ain’t su-- hold on.’ Ovmar raised his hand, as if to stop her from speaking and letting him get a moment to think about it. ‘Yeah, now that you say it. There was someone with him, disguised as a simple attache… hmm. A woman? Might be, might be.’

The Sith Lord shook his head and continued. ‘I can’t be sure. I was busy trying to incapacitate him and after that I got a chair thrown to my face, got knocked out cold for some time. Woke up when it was all over, whoever it was? Vanished, into thin air.’
