OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATIONSETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Vinah
  • Classification: Metropolis
  • Location: Annaj
  • Affiliation: The First Order | Annaj
  • Demographics: The population of Vinah City is immensely varied as Annaj has been the gateway to the Unknown Regions since before the founding of the defunct Fringe Confederacy and has retained that in the years after its collapse. You can find humans here, yes, but a large make-up of the citizens are the various alien species you might find in the Outer Rim and the Unknown Regions. From the Chiss to the Ssi-Ruuvi and from rodians to twi'leks and even a few Aing-Tii, the demographic is very varied.
  • Wealth: High. Annaj has been the first and last port of call of anyone who wishes to leave or enter the Unknown Regions. Over the years its capital has expanded with the money tariffs, taxation and duties bring in. After the fall of the Fringe it retained its strong position in the market, because of the presence of Iron Crown Enterprises and other major corporations using it as a regional hub for their trade throughout these territories.
  • Stability: Medium. Much of the city is stable and safe, but it copes with the same problems any major urbanization effort goes through: some areas are safer than others, whilst a few districts should not be visited under any certain circumstances. In general the people of Annaj are hardworking, protective of their old heritage with the Fringe and cynical to a fault. They still remember the days when the Fringe guarded them against the Monsters of the Deep and they continue to practice lessons learned from that long period of time. They are cautious, independent and do not enjoy being pushed around. A wide percentage of the population is employed by Iron Crown Enterprises, which has large stakes in several major industries.
  • Description: Vinah is the capital of Annaj and has been since the rise of the Fringe in the Unknown Regions. It is covered by the planet's fog, but many of its structures have outgrown the veil in an effort to scrape the skies. In the early days an effort had been made to blend the forestation and nature of Annaj with the city's aesthetic, but the more years passed and the more wealth flowed into Annaj, the less that became a priority. Now only the outskirts of the city still possess that rustic feel of advanced Kashyyyk decorum. The other parts of Vinah are dominated by elaborate citiscape, industry and general urbanization.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Vinah City was found a few years after the Gulag Plague and the Years of Darkness.

What capital city had remained for Annaj had been wiped away through infighting and general chaos from riots. Vinah was the first city the Lords of the Fringe landed when they chose Annaj as their stronghold and capital in their conquest of the Unknown Regions. As the Fringe grew so did Vinah City with wealth, trade and commerce flowing onto Annaj and straight into the city. After all, it made sense to prioritize the capital city of the new power brokers in the region, rather than trying to find a different spaceport.

After the Fringe fell the city (and the planet) did not fall into predicted chaos. Instead the former parastatal corporation named Iron Crown Enterprise filled the void to keep order.

Chaos was bad for business after all.

After the assimilation of the old Fringe territories into the new First Order Annaj became the sector capital of the so-called Red Sector. Because of the amicable relationship between Iron Crown and the First Order (many government contracts in return for cultivation of influence) the Moddell Sector was given a larger degree of autonomy than most regions under the First Order. Taxes paid, laws followed and directives fulfilled, as long as order remained the Order was happy.

This is the state of Vinah City today.

A bulwark of commerce and trade, the first major city that serves as a lifeline to those who wish to explore the Unknown Regions and perhaps profit off of it as well.
