STRENGTHS
  • Hack and Slash: The cutlass is known for being a direct and easy to use weapon similar in utility to a machete. You can stab someone with it, but cutting through objects (and people) is where it excels.
  • Durable: The cutlass is a sturdy weapon and the blade is unlikely to break.
  • Lightsaber Resistant: Due to the cortosis-weave in the blade, this weapon can be used to fend off lightsaber attacks.
  • Keep Your Fingers: One of the distinguishing traits of the cutlass is the hand protection on the hilt, which in this case is also lightsaber resistant.
WEAKNESSES
  • Duel's Out: Despite what you might have gleaned from watching old pirate holofilms, cutlasses are not ideal dueling weapons.
  • Short Blade: Being designed for fighting in close quarters, it's lacking in the reach department.
  • Heavy: It is slightly heavier than a vibroblade.
DESCRIPTION
To all things there is a season - that is Arrius Messala's philosophy. Sometimes the crude and efficient is what's necessary to get the job done. Enter the vibrocutlass, a modernized version of the weapon traditionally favored by pirates and naval crews. Durable and easy to manufacture, the vibrocutlass also requires little training to use. It is the weapon of the common footsoldier, the infantryman aiming to survive in close quarters combat, making up for what it lacks in finesse with sheer cutting power. It can also double as a cutting tool, though obviously it won't work as well as an ax - and it certainly can't be used to cut through metal the way a lightsaber can.
