The History of Via...
Ah, where to begin? Something as complex and convoluted a being as Via simply cannot be transcribed into mere words. Oh yes, we could try. Let's find some choice adjectives, shall we?
Alluring? Absolutely.
Devious? Without a doubt.
Tenacious? Viciously so.
Does that describe her well enough for you? No? Very well then. Let us commence with the words, shall we?
Via was brought kicking and screaming into being in a shanty on Ryloth. Parents are unimportant. As all slaves are. She was raised in slavery, though she outran the chains meant to trap her forever.
Did I mention the fact that she was devious? Because that is how she avoided slavery. She had a crafty and quick mind, even as a child. And growing up, she honed that mind at every opportunity, from a very early age.
Growing up, her parents saw signs of her budding Force Sensitivity. She was quite the adept at probing the minds of others. Neither parent was force sensitive, so they had no recourse as young Via explored her abilities.
By the time she was 7, there wasn't a thought her parents had that she did not know. She became a fine manipulator by age 9. Combining natural skill with her Force power enabled her to have whatever and whoever she wanted.
Needless to say, she frightened her parents greatly.
Her childhood was pleasant for her, despite the slavery her parents endured. She was largely left alone to explore, learn and grow. Grow, not just physically, but mentally as well. She strengthened her connection to the Force on a daily basis. Practice makes perfect, yes?
Though her childhood was pleasant, it wasn't at all innocent. She started her "experiments" on animals. At least, at first. But she soon found little challenge in the minds of most animals. So, as the natural course would have it, she graduated to other children.

Ah yes, her experimentation. By the time she moved on to children, her abilities with mental manipulation exceeded many Padawans with formal training.
