Strengths:

Resistant to the following
  • Lightsabers
  • Slug-throwers
  • Blaster fire
  • And flames. (cause having your hair set on fire is never fun.)
  • The photoreactive fibers and Shadow Silk provide Andorreth's Vespera Armor with a modest passive camouflage and stealth ability. Due to there not being as much armor plating as traditional Mandalorian armor there is more of a need and advantage to waiting quietly for the proper moment to strike.
  • Majority of the protection from Vespera Beskar'gam lies in the cuirass as well as the legs.
Weaknesses:
  • Vulnerable to electrical, Ion, and EMP attacks.
  • Vulnerable to Lightsabers, blades, and explosives, especially in areas not covered by Beskar plating.
  • While the majority of the body's vital organs covered by Beskar there are rather large segments of the armor that are not covered. (All of the arms excluding shoulders, back of the knee, underarms and neck)
  • Significant Kinetic Force will still damage the armor and the person inside. It's meant to stop slug-thrower rounds not soak up explosives or resist being crushed by debris.
  • As all but the shoulders and hidden blade gauntlet on the left forearm is uncovered by Beskar ALL protection normally afforded by the armor is virtually negated. There is still kinetic armor affording protection from slug-throwers and kinetic weapons but it can be penetrated by blades and sabers.
DESCRIPTION

Andorreth picked up a set of combat armor of the black market and after researching Mandalorian armor designs upon the recommendation of an instructor he decided it'd be beneficial to begin refitting his combat armor with Mandalorian iron of a lighter weight and more sophisticated electronic systems in the helm. Several components of the armor were gifted to Andorreth from his bladed combat instructor Celiana along with more designs on how to add and improve to the overall capabilities of the armor. While excellent against most weaponry Andorreth's Vespera armor also functions as an EVA suit for everything from salvage ops to EVA repairs and boarding other vessels.

The advanced systems in the HUD of the helmet are vulnerable to Ion, EMP, and Electrical damage. To combat this the Vespera armor has a pressurized and insulated bodysuit so as to avoid being electrocuted if the helmets' systems are overloaded. Another thing Andorreth traded for mobility versus full coverage was lighter-weight Beskar plating and relying on armorweave in vulnerable areas such as the back of the knees, neck, and underarms. While still Beskar'gam it wasn't a set of full Beskar plate armor. Rather Andorreth opted for a sort of half set of Beskar Armor with the main protection being a Beskar cuirass and leg plating. Trading higher protection for more skillful use and functionality Andorreth was satisfied that his Vespera Armor would work well for him.

Additional Items
Mag-boot components Micro-thrusters Magnetized Armor Segments Holographic Gauntlet Datapad Interface (Left Gauntlet) Cable Launcher (Left Gauntlet) Climbing Blades (Both Gauntlets) Mandalorian Hidden Blade (Right Gauntlet gifted by Celiana)
  • These should all be listed under the Special Features field. Just move them there and remove the Additional Items field.
  • Additionally, the Photoreactive fiber and the Shadowsilk offer a form of passive cloaking/camouflage, which should be listed under Strengths.

    SPECIAL FEATURES

Weight: 10 kg.
Quality: 8
  • These both fail to reflect the materials used in this submission. Again, from the Armor template:

    Raziel said:
Weight: [...] Armor made of true Mandalorian iron, or a full set of combat gear for a soldier in the field, can be around 25kg.

    Raziel said:
Quality: [...] Mandalore's armor or beskar'kandar would be class 10.
  • Please alter the two fields to the quoted values.

Mandalorian Hidden Blade (Right Gauntlet gifted by Celiana)
  • Is this also made of beskar? If it's an existing factory submission, just link it.

And flames. (cause having your hair set on fire is never fun.)
  • What material / system grants the fire resistance?

Andorreth Vikar said:
While being incredibly resistant to most types of damage including lightsabers, the incredible amount of electronics in the helmet is the biggest weakness. Being on the receiving end of a bolt of Force Lightning or an ion blaster will scramble the helmets' systems. Making it damn near impossible to do anything with the targeting systems. Firing weapons would have to be completely eye-balled.
  • This feels like a very shallow weakness compared to all the strengths the armor has. The worst impact that electricity, EMP, or ion can have is scramble the helmet's systems. With the insulating suit, the lightning won't do anything to the wearer.
  • TL;DR as this sub currently stands, there's no damage that will actually be able to hurt the person inside. As that's obviously unbalanced, you're going to have to add a few actual Weaknesses.
  • Vulnerability of the joints is the first thing. Beskar or not, you can't have full plate everywhere because of mobility. Please add this.
  • Furthermore, an armor weighing 25 kg is plenty of weight to lug around, which can get very exhausting, very fast. Add this to the weaknesses as well.

Andorreth Vikar said:
Modifiable (Due to the ability to switch out components of the armor the overall strength of the armor can be less effective.)
  • This is not a weakness at all. It's the user's choice to remove or switch the components, it's not something that an opponent can do.
  • Please also be more specific as to which parts of the armor can be adjusted / removed. Is it everything? Only the hidden weapons?

  1. How do explosives / kinetic damage fare against this armor?

@mention me with edits.

EDITED: Weight and Armor Class (want to see if you'll work with me on that)
EDITED: Clarified Mandalorian Hidden Blade as Mandalorian Beskar Hidden Blade
EDITED: Mentioned explosives and kinetic rounds in weaknesses
EDITED: Flames (Covered this with insulated body glove)
EDITED: Fixed primary source to N/A
EDITED: Moved Additional Items to Special Features and the Photoreactive fiber and Shadowsilk to strengths
EDITED: Added weaknesses with both joints and explosives

The reasoning I went with 10 kg was it wasn't meant to be lugged around and simply soaking up damage all the time. would 15kg be acceptable? As it was meant to be multipurpose I didn't want to simply tank around as you mentioned 25kg is heavy I wanted to convey the protection of Beskar with weaknesses as well and not just a giant tin suit.

Beskar is heavy, so it tends to produce heavier suits than, say, durasteel, even when you've got the same amount of coverage. If you want a lighter suit, you're going to have to sacrifice plate coverage (i.e., leave more than just the joints exposed). This would also naturally lead to a lower Quality rating, as beskar is the only thing providing high resistances.
Your options with the Weight & Quality are thus:
  • Drop the weight to 15 kg, drop the Quality to 8, and reduce the amount of plate coverage. (e.g. maybe more of the arms are exposed, less plating on the legs, no abdominal plate, etc.). This would also lead to a lesser amount of protection from blasters, lightsabers, and melee weaponry – edits to be made accordingly in the Strengths section.
    OR
  • Keep it at 25 kg, keep the Q:10, and keep the higher resistances. in this case, please complete the following edit:

  • You need to link the systems under the Special Features, and describe the advantage they provide under Strengths.
"The photoreactive fiber and shadowsilk provide a passive form of minor stealth to the armor, making it more silent, etc" or something along those lines.

Andorreth Vikar said:
Incredibly resistant to the following
  • It can't be 'incredibly' resistant against all of those. Lightsabers and blasters are going to have trouble with beskar, but the rest is just armorweave, and thus much less resistant. Make sure that your Strengths convey which parts of the armor provide the listed resistances, so it doesn't read like it's the same everywhere. :)

  • A Google reverse image search can sometimes produce the website of the original author, which you would then link. If not, you can just use the pinterest link, yes. Whichever it turns out to be, add it under the Image Source field, and this should be good to go.
