  • Ability to penetrate interdiction fields
WEAKNESSES:
  • Large target from broadside
  • Exposed observation tower

  • Rapid-fire ion cannons can drain the shields if fired too often
  • A stray enemy attack craft can disable the reactors from inside the hangar
Description: At 2177m, the Vero-class light battlecruiser is designed around the architecture of the original Providence-class, with many of its flaws, such as exposed bottom pod and exposed aft observation tower, while nevertheless having a few changes from the original. The bottom pod no longer contains the sensor/communications array but a 420 mm hypervelocity cannon, allowing it to fire the HVC on all horizontal arcs so long as the target is below the firing ship. With 11 squadrons of attack craft and turrets of ion cannons as well as turbolasers, located along the folds in the hull, the Vero can also stand its own against ships that size. With the new round of refits, there has been a number of heavy long-range turbolasers added, and also an extra suite of hypervelocity cannons.

However, several redesigns were necessary in order to accommodate organic crews. Also, with the complexity of the systems increasing, the requisite amount of crew has increased tenfold from the original, and can also lead to an enemy stray attack craft that could somehow enter the main hangar to disable the reactors with a well-placed proton torpedo/bomb shot aft. The main cargo hold can also hold a staggering amount of vehicles, such as 160 MTT-Xs and 24 squadrons of main battle tank-sized vehicles, such as OG-11 homing spider droids, or the equivalent of up to 104 squadrons of MBT-sized vehicles. It can also carry a massive amount of folded battle droids in the passenger space in an emergency. And yet, the extra weaponry forced the ship to reduce its passenger capacity.

Skeleton crew: 5,100
Optimal crew: 17,500
Consumables: 2 years
Cargo capacity: 300,000 tons
Passenger capacity: 25,000

[member="Gir Quee"] I would probably have to go with 2 shields, since one set of deflector shields is functionally equivalent to one set of ray shields and one set of particle shields combined together.

I would either keep just "redundant" or "double" in this instance, otherwise it sounds like there is a pair of two sets of shields.

Hangar: High: 14 squadrons

Since this ship is closer to the 2000 meter mark than the 2500 meter mark, please change this to "High: 11 squadrons" to match the template hangar guidelines.

If you'll edit this area to match the hangar change.
