Personality/Beliefs

Before Darth Nefaron
Veradun was a loyal, honorable, and dutiful youth before he entered into his apprenticeship with Darth Nefaron. He lived on Formos with his adopted family, and was raised under the banner of the Order of Wonosa, the Sith cult that was led by Darth Strosius. Honor and loyalty meant everything to the young Nagai boy, and none were more important that his close loved ones and his mentors. He was especially close to this adopted older sister, Revna and looked up to his High Priest for leadership and guidance. He was firmly against slavery, as was the way he was taught and raised. He believed in family, and was aggressively protective over them and their honor.

Despite this however, Veradun had a merciless, sadistic streak in him that came out from time to time. As he became older, he became a little more volatile and would viciously attack others if he felt there was any slight against him or his family. Death and bloodshed did not bother the youth; in fact, he rather thrived in it.

After Darth Nefaron
Once Veradun became the Dark Lord's sworn Sith Apprentice, the young Nagai underwent a drastic personality and ideological shift. Personality traits and other bonds, connections, etc. that Darth Nefaron despised were ruthlessly purged from the Nagai boy as he sought to claim Veradun's sole loyalty and devotion. Defiance and rebellion, even on a minor scale, was met with pain and suffering, and a long stint within Anoat's slave pits. There, Veradun shifted from the naive youth that Wonosa had raised, to the cunning and seemingly obedient and devoted Apprentice that Nefaron desired. It was during this time too that Veradun's true cruel and sadistic nature was brought to the surface, earning him the feared title of "The Pale Death" by the other slaves he served alongside.

Through many tests and trials, Veradun morphed into a being that had turned his back against everything he had ever been taught or believed, embracing the teachings and guidance of his cruel and twisted Sith Master. He has transformed into a cold, ruthless, dominating presence within Darth Nefaron's ranks - feeding on the fear, the pain, and the death that surrounds him.

In General

Veradun is a cunning, quiet, and seemingly obedient Sith Apprentice. Though he has developed a deep seated hatred for his Master, he nonetheless serves and obeys Darth Nefaron, having learned to restrain rebellious thoughts or actions that would otherwise find him ensnared in Nefaron's cruel wrath. He takes his role as Apprentice seriously, devoting his time and energy and effort into learning all that he can from his Master. However, when he is out of the sight or attention of the Dark Lord, a different side to Veradun emerges: more quiet, seemingly calm, even kind. It is nothing but a manipulation tactic to probe others as potential allies to aid him in his eventual overturn of his Master's dominion. He used his Nagai traits to quietly seduce others into his web, though he was very guarded with those he chose to interact with. With the Corpse Legion, Veradun ensures the Corpse Soldiers know that, beyond Darth Nefaron, that he is their ruler. All who fall under his command are mercilessly brought into submission and obedience towards him - and any defiance is met with a swift and cold execution.

As a Sangnir Lowblood, Veradun's primary existence is centered around Anima, the substance converted from lifeblood that he needs in order to perpetuate his immortal status, and everything else is done in manner that will allow him access to Anima, as well as allow him to spread his web further as he embraces who and what he has become. He willingly allows his Master to use him where and how the Dark Lord sees fit, all in an effort to maintain the facade of the loyal Apprentice.

Background
Not much is known about Veradun before he was found on the war torn streets of Tund by the then Sith Acolyte, Revna Marr , who brought him to safety as she helped her Mentor Darth Strosius attempt to take over the planet.

When they were forced to leave, Revna decided to take the orphaned boy with her and her Mentor, giving him the name 'Veradun', taking inspiration from the name of an ancient Sith Lord, Darth Malgus. Upon returning back to their secret home base on Formos, Veradun was officially adopted into one of the many families that resided within the Formos Dresuoti, and given a second chance at life. Early on it was discovered that the boy was Force sensitive, and thus his introduction into the Force and the Dark side began. As he grew older, he helped his parents around the settlement, oftentimes volunteering his service at the Cathedral in the heart of the settlement, helping the priests and priestesses with their various duties and to try and catch a glimpse of his High Priest. He formed a very deep bond to Revna, who had saved him, and she formally adopted him as her brother and gave him her former last name of Sharr. Besides his adopted parents, Revna and his High Priest Darth Strosius are the only individuals to whom he is closest to, and holds the highest honor for. He has grown somewhat close to others over time, such as individuals within the noble House of Marr since his sister became an official Marr herself.

By the time Veradun reached his teen years, he had grasped the basics of Force application and had an understanding of Sith history including modern day history and notable figures, had memorized the Sith Code, and had received some form of physical and weapons training. However, it was agreed by his parents, his sister and his High Priest that he should be enrolled into the Sith Academy at Jutrand with a sponsorship from the Lord Inquisitor of the Sith Order and, if accepted, have his training completed in such an environment - thus opening up more opportunities for him to truly step into his role as a future Sith of the Sith Empire.

Veradun was accepted into the Academy, but was soon offered an apprenticeship to the shadowy Dark Lord, Darth Nefaron. Upon accepting the offer, Veradun was removed from Jutrand Academy and brought immediately into Nefaron's service, where the boy began his journey into the Dark Side, where he would be broken down and everything that he held dear stripped from him. Darth Nefaron would torture and twist and eventually break his Apprentice, allowing him to mold Veradun into what he desired the boy to be. Now serving at Nefaron's side, the young Nagai carries out whatever duties and tasks assigned to him with cold ruthlessness, seeking to grow in power and rise alongside the Dark Lord, with the hopes that he will one day overcome his Master, and finally free himself from Nefaron's tyranny.

Just a few years into his Apprenticeship to Darth Nefaron, Veradun came across an encrypted message from someone from his past; Kasir Dorran, a Darkseeker for the Order of Wonosa. The Nagai, now a young man of 19/20 years of age, tracked down the message to Mustafar - where he found Kasir. The two reunited, repaired bonds, and Veradun confessed his plans to one day eliminate his Master - a task which Kasir vowed to aid Veradun in. Eventually the truth of Kasir being a Sangnir, a race of mysterious vampiric humanoids, came to light and the offer to Turn was given to Veradun - one he accepted. Kasir Sired Veradun, binding the two of them through ritual, blood and the Force, though this connection is kept hidden to keep Nefaron in the dark to their schemes.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Before Meeting Darth Nefaron

Veradun was somewhat introverted, preferring to keep his own company over the company of others. However, he had no issue with engaging with others when necessary. He was very close with his adopted family and close extensions of those individuals, and he held them above all others. He was bound to a sense of honor, a trait that had naturally developed as he’d grown from child to young teenage boy, and this had shaped him to become dutiful - especially to those he had a strong bond with. Veradun tried to make friends with others if it suited him, and he was fairly quick to pick out allies from foes. Even at a young age, his adopted parents, older sister Revna, and his High Priest and other mentors, noticed a streak of mercilessness within him which seemed to reveal itself when his honor or the honor of his close loved ones was called into question or besmirched by others. There had been multiple occasions where he had been pulled out of a fight with other children, simply so that he wouldn’t kill them, and this boldness and fearlessness had even extended to adults from time to time. The only things he truly feared was losing his family, his loved ones…and losing his freedom.

After Meeting/Becoming the Apprentice of Darth Nefaron

Veradun underwent a serious change emotionally, mentally, and spiritually when he came under the authority of the Dark Lord, Darth Nefaron. Traits that the boy took pride in, such as his honor and loyalty and duty to those he considered family, were ruthlessly rooted out by his Master. Any trait that the Dark Lord found to be unwanted, he tortured out of the young teen - evening demoted his apprentice to that of a slave in order to rip away anything deemed unnecessary and unwanted within the boy, and force him to go against his very nature and thus embrace the Dark Side more fully, and become the willing vessel and tool his Master wanted and needed him to be.

Cold cruelty and calculation became to boy's companions; hatred and anger and fear were brought into existence as he fought to stay alive in the merciless domain his Master ruled over, where one wrong move could see the boy stripped of everything, including his mind or his very life. The driving need for power so that he could one day overcome and dominate his own Master is all that Veradun cares about now - and he will do whatever is necessary to achieve that power. Even if that meant betraying everyone and everything he ever loved or cared out. Now the boy has gone from being the advocate of slaves, seeking to help them - to becoming a Slaver himself, working to serve his Masters needs, and enslaving whole populations to serve the Dark Lord's whims.

Now, Veradun is devoted to one Sith only - his Master, the Corpse Lord, and Master of Fear. Devoted to the dark path he is set upon, in hopes of one day being free of his shackles, free from the tyrant, and free to rule and do as he pleases without fear of his Master's fury.

Beyond this, the boy has a dark and hidden secret: his secret love affair with all things concerning death. Occasionally he gives in to his darker urges and murders to satisfy his twisted and dark curiosities.
