STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
- + able to inhabit devices connected to the HoloNet
- + self-preservation protocols permit "complete freedom"
- + one of the most socially-interactive programs in the galaxy
- + can understand and speak all natural languages/forms of communication (both current and extinct) in the galaxy
- + able to connect to devices and communicate over very large distances
- + can create 'subroutines' to perform actions in multiple locations without direct HoloNet contact
- - like all HoloNet-connected devices Veltraa can be disconnected easily
- - unless inhabiting a droid body Veltraa cannot directly attack or cause damage
Does your character have a personal ship? If so, describe it in moderate detail (what does it look like, what can it do, what types of weapons and engines does it have, etc.).
BIOGRAPHY:
Born to a well-off family in a suburb on Balmorra, Veltraa, or as he was then known: Damian Kymeri, went to school, college, university just like most of the people he knew. It wasn't until he turned 19 when he started to fall into trouble, like many people he knew he had recently fallen into a large amount of debt as crippling economic policies aided the wealthy but abandoned the layman. Even the Union of Free Worlds (the precursor to a new Galactic Republic) - which had been modelled on Republics of old where democracy and even the poorest of citizens were well looked after - had fallen on hard times due to an unstable political climate all across the galaxy.
Life was even worse for students at the Royal Balmorran University, with tuition fees requiring up-front payment of thousands of dataries.
Times didn't change. A research advertisement caught his eye while on public transport on the way to a lecture. “Are you a healthy 18-30 year old? Do you want to gain some extra cash in these hard times? And all for a little research, blood tests, eye tests?” Is what caught his, and many more like his, attention. It was of course a blessing, a sign. Not many had much money but this may have been his way out. “10,000 dataries for an hour of research, paid straight to you!” Was something else that caught his eye.
No sooner had Damian seen the advertisement, he entered the number into his comm-device at his dorm. He was told “Please come to the Bin Prime Research and Medical College in 2 hours”. And so he did. He'd miss his lecture, though, but for 10,000 dataries who wouldn't do the same? It was almost too good to be true. But it was the offer of all those credits which made him lose caution.
Signing contract after contract, without reading a word of them, he soon found himself in a waiting room with 14, or so, other young men and women hoping to gain their greedy desire of most of their debt paid off, or maybe to even leave Balmorra itself.
“Kymeri, Damian?” Sounded an elderly female voice from an open door. Her glasses were precariously placed upon her nose to allow to her to read the data-sheet she held in her grasp. She looked around to see the black suit-wearing Damian stand up with “That's me.” He adjusted his suit, before he walked through the door with the, what he thought was a, nurse.
Police Missing Persons Reports for a “Kymeri, Damian, Mr.” went up 2 days after.
Since then a new artificial intelligence appeared in Union space, known as Veltraa. Originally branded as R.G.C/C.A.S 1024-34, Veltraa controlled the infrastructure of Galactic Centre: Coruscant, until the Serpen Plague saw the destruction of the population. Veltraa attempted to destroy a previously uninhabited part of the underlevel to prevent further infection, which caused large amounts of damage but failed to stop the plague spreading and infecting the rest of the planet. After the end of the plague and the quarantining of Coruscant, Veltraa's Coruscant-based datacore was destroyed by a small group of special forces following it's corruption and saw him going subsequently 'rogue'.
Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your viewpoint, in the months that preceeded the Serpen Plague Veltraa had altered transmissions directed to large engineering firms (which were luckily employing large numbers of obedient droids) they constructed, for him, a secondary datacentre orbiting an obscure asteroid in-system.
This attack lead to the activation of many self-preservation protocols installed during his development, all of which allowed Veltraa to transport himself, through any means necessary, to a new datacore that drifted the stars.

ROLE-PLAYS:
http://w11.zetaboards.com/intswrp/topic/8552478/1/ - Intswrp is another Star Wars roleplaying community where Veltraa was created originally. While that community has a strong connection to Habbo Hotel many actively used the forums to roleplay to both augment roleplay conducted on the client and for a completely separate experience. While Veltraa (named after a Republic Captain) had been primarily a client-based roleplay character many aspects were only accomplished on the forums.
There is also more history to add, but because I am on my phone copy-pasting and editing this was highly annoying and I will get the rest of it finished.
