Apart of no Force Using Order initially, Varien's story truly started when he had been captured on Togoria. After the One Sith had invaded the planet and had beaten back the Galactic Republic. Many died around him, those he had come to like and call his friends were slain by the Dark Siders. Before Togoria, Kiffu had been the closest he had ever been to the One Sith Faction.
Treading the line between relatively safety and extreme danger had always attracted him. The only reason he could guess as to why he survived on Togoria in their camps had been because he was large, an obviously efficient labourer, and he was Force sensitive. He had heard rumours about Inquisitors and Sith Lords being on the way to the planet to force others that were sensitive to the Force in submission and bring them into the ranks of their One Sith ranks. He didn't take kindly to that, and he instilled the same in those he could communicate with in his specific quadrant of the labour camp.
Many attempted riots and escapes later and even many more dead at his own actions, when the Galactic Alliance had struck at Coruscant, reinforcements had been pulled by the primarily labour planet. When many of the soldiers and Sith had been called off, that was when he had planned his next escape almost within the hour of so many of their overseers disappearing unexpectedly...
Given the title of Kinima'ija from those he had slain, despite the planet still being a labour planet for the most part, they had taken one of the final ships on the planet and took multiple jumps through Hyperspace to get to safe, obviously to the South of the Galactic Map and into Galactic Republic Space before heading back home to Kiffar.
