Uri Aureleos versus Elizie Adasca (Kenobi Padawan Tournament)

KENOBI CLASS PRAXEUM SHIP
TRAINING ROOM

[member="Uri Aureleos"] vs. [member="Elizie Adasca"]
Judge: [member="Kana Truden"]

This was the highest training room on the Praxeum ship. It was a large circular training room, set down into the floor. Along the front and back were a series of seats raised up on platforms for other Jedi to watch the dueling occur. There were a number of younger Jedi present, waiting eagerly for the match to begin.
A small circular droid hovered down to the center of the training circle. It twirled around for a moment and then a small port opened and a blue light shown out of it. Within a few moments, the blue light took on the form of Jedi Master Kian Karr. He glanced around the room looking first to those waiting to see the match begin and then began to speak.

"My fellow Jedi." Kian began, clasping his hands behind his back and pacing back and forth as he spoke. "Today we kick off the Kenobi Padawan Tournament. Today's match is between Padawans Uri Aureleos and Elizie Adasca and is being overseen by Jedi Master Kana Truden."
"Before I turn the floor over to Master Truden, allow me to remind everyone that this tournament is about broadening relationships among your fellow padawans and about striving to hone your abilities with a blade. Don't lose site of the importance of having fun.
"The nature of a tournament such as this means that there will be a winner and a loser. But remember, that in both victory and loss, there are important lessons to be learned!"
"Good luck, and have fun!" Kian said bowing to them all before the image faded away and the droid returned from whence it came.

Uri bowed to the holograph of Master [member="Kian Karr"] then turned his attention to his opponent, his friend. The only advantage he had was that he knew her chosen form and how she played it. Although he had never faced it. Knowing how something is countered and being able to actually do it was two different things. He went through a few quick scenarios in his head. He draws both of his sai. Attacks with a furry. She waits for him to tire and make a mistake. He loses. OR He draws one sai to start. Attempts to play her game of parry and dodge. She out maneuver him. He loses. His only chance was dumb luck that Elizie would make a mistake. Uri smirked at the thought of her making a mistake. If she did, she would probably make it appear like she had done it on purpose. She was elegant and graceful like that.

He offered his rough hand to her for a pre-match handshake. Once her four digits reached his five he twisted his wrist so her hand would be on top the slipping his hand down to her fingers as bowed similar to that of a noble gentleman. A noble he definitely was not. He look awkward as he stepped back with his opposite foot leading into the bow, but he hoped he would get points for the gesture. He thought for a second if he should kiss her hand but he knew that would be too much. This was part of his plan in hopes to get her off her game. This was suppose to be fun after all, so why not?

"May your victory be elegant yet graceful, my lady," he grinned as he raised from his bow letting her finger slip from his hand.

The Arkanian slowly went over the spectators with her milky-white eyes before setting those on the hologram of her Master as the Kel Dor’s ghostly blue and transparent image appeared, projected by the droid. One deep and respectful bow to the Jedi Councillor later, the teenage girl took in every word of the respected Jedi Master. It did not last long and the two combatants could finally proceed. The noble Padawan’s attention shifted towards Padawan Aureleos, silently observing the boy. Elizie knew nothing of his preferred style of lightsaber combat, nothing of his choice of weapon. This would be a completely blind fight for her, for the first few minutes before she discovered the man’s technique, at least. Unfortunately for her, he trained under Master Raaf’s supervision, making him someone not to be underestimated because of his young age. At least the room was spacious enough, allowing Elizie to perform her dodges without being hindered by the surroundings. As long as she maintained her firm footing, she’d be just fine.

Taking several graceful and proud steps towards her soon-to-be opponent, the Arkanian accepted his handshake, firmly grasping his hand, cocking her brow at his unusual way of showing his respect. Once free of the grasp, Elizie turned around, long and strong strides carrying her from the other students to get some distance between the two just as Uri did the same. Once the Arkanian felt the distance to be enough, she spun on the heel of her boot turned to face the golden-skinned boy. One swift movement of her right hand and the curved hilt that hanged on the girl’s hand appeared in her palm, the lightsaber waiting to be ignited.

“May the Force be with you, Padawan Aureleos,” Elizie said to her Jedi brother and stood in a typical opening stance of Makashi, placing one foot in front of the other, her legs slightly apart. The Force was with her and she felt ready, waiting.

Uri took short steps backwards rolling up his sleeves as he did. He didn't want to get too much distance from her. They would just have to close the gap again. His blade was shorter after all. That would make for a fun challenge for him. Her blade is longer than the average lightsaber and his is shorter than the average shoto. He had to get in close to her which would be hard if she was playing the dodging game. He stopped when she did watching her as she turned so gracefully. Her movements clean and precise. He couldn't help but to have a light smile on his face as he admired her in her makashi stance. He had an idea how he might be able to last at least a bit.

"May the force be with you as well," Uri replied calmly and finished rolling his sleeves up above his elbows. Light scars from burns and cuts on his inner forearm were only visible to him at the moment and yet almost invisible to him unless he was looking directly at them. A hazard of learning the lightsaber version of his chosen weapon. He contemplated get special lightsaber resistant gauntlets to save his skin but had hadn't gotten around to it. Putting his sleeves up didn't protect his arms but kept from accidentally burning a hole in his clothes.

Uri slowly took the two light sai from his belt. As he did, he moved his left leg back to match her stance in a way with one foot in front of the other. He held them both in his hands in front of him. The three prongs up, his hands wrapped around the handles. This way of holding the sai being called offensive position. The blades yet to be ignited. Uri was simply showing Elizie to begin with. Showing her the odd shape of the hilt. The one in his left hand, he spun around his thumb, a unnecessary maneuver merely to show off, catching it as it now faced downward in his hand. His index finger extended on the handle as his other fingers and his thumb wrapped around their respective prongs. This way of holding the sai being called defensive position. If the blade ignited it would extend down the length of his forearm. This explains the origin of his scars. He bent his knees lightly as he lowered the offensive sai in his right hand pointing it at the ground just in front of his right foot. At the same time, he moved his left hand and defensive sai in front of his right shoulder, deciding this to be his opening stance. Both of his weapons pointing down. Neither ignited. From there, he held his position. Stubbornly, deciding in his mind that he would not make the first move. Even if it meant standing there the whole day.

Elizie gave her opponent enough time to prepare, studying his moves even before he started fighting, the cold gaze of her seemingly blind eyes washing over the golden-skinned Padawan, unable to understand why he had rolled up his sleeves. What kind of advantage would it possibly grant him? No matter how many ideas rushed through her head, the Arkanian noble found none of them believable or practical enough. This bothered her. He had to have a reason to do it, what was it?! The Light Side did not tell, but it revealed many other things. She could feel the many pairs of eyes doing just the same she’s been doing to Uri right now, watching their every move, eager to witness this round of tournament, see the two oddities of the Jedi Order have a friendly match. The golden Padawan whose skin glowed and the superiorly-bred 100% Arkanian who spent most of her free time in the great library, studying everything concerning history, philosophy, commentaries on various Force powers and techniques. Indeed, one could spend their entire life reading through the large amount of knowledge hidden within the Academy.

Those things in Uri’s hands were utterly alien to her, evidenced by the frown that cocked her eyebrows. The Arkanian Padawan had never seen such lightsabers. Those almost looked like… massive, massive forks. Judging by the surprised murmurs among the onlookers, many Jedi did not know this kind of weapon either. And he wielded two. Two! Jar’kai, then? This and another form, but how was she going to fight against two weapons when she wielded only one?! This caught her off guard for a second, but the Light Side of the Force reassured her about the fight, blowing away all worries concerning her fellow Padawan’s form of lightsaber combat and unknown weapons. Much to her relief, the Padawan then gripped the weapon his left hand reversely, which indicated one of the styles employable by Form V users. While that form normally presented great danger to Makashi practitioners, its strength oriented attacks breaking through the second form’s parries – as evidenced by Elizie’s spar with Master Karr – the reversed grip was a Makashi user’s dream coming true. Whether Uri knew it or not, he basically took the greatest advantage of Makashi and turned it into an even greater advantage. Elizie gave her fellow Padawan a polite smile.

And then Elizie finally gave the ignition button a loving stroke, making the emerald blade ignite with a snap-hiss. Raising her hand, the weapon daringly pointed at her fellow Padawan, telling him to come closer. She’d wait for him to strike first, unwilling to be the one to attack, but she did take a step forward. The crowd became nothing as she focused solely on Uri and his weird weapons, various scenarios playing out in her mind. The Force would guide her moves though, and with the Force on her side, she had nothing to worry about.

Uri knew nothing of lightsaber forms other than basic knowledge. He had never practiced a lightsaber form. His master was headmaster of the academy, a busy person so he didn't blame her. He wasn't one to seek training either. That wasn't how he was taught in the monastery. He only knew how to wield the metal counter parts of the weapons in his hands and had three years of training with his new version. She practiced and held extensive knowledge about form II. Makashi. He remembered being a boy and letting the word roll off his tongue. She will wait for him to strike first he knew this as a fact.

If he had thought, he would have been judging her facial expressions sooner, but his mind didn't think this way. He did noticed however that her confused look switched into her trademark smile. Hard to see by how subtle it was but he saw as the corners of her lips raised slightly. Did he make a mistake already? He wondered if he no longer had an edge. The sight of his weapon surely had her a little bit timid before. Yet now she returned to her cool and calm demeanor. This was the Elizie that Uri admired. Her serene body language that had Uri mentally shaking in his boots.

She ignited her blade and raised it in a taunt. Uri snickered and smiled at the sight as if he had the joy of knowing a secret she didn't know. Even though she took a step forward he didn't plan to budge. He ignited the blade in his right hand, the one pointed at the ground. The center ignited first with the orange hue followed by the two shorter on the side. He smirked and watched her face for her reaction. He left the one in his left hand off. He didn't need it at the moment and on a less positive note igniting it would let it sear his chest. Not necessarily the best way to start off a match.

The nature of her fellow Padawan’s weapon has finally been revealed when Uri ignited his strange-looking lightsaber, three orange beams of pure energy expanding from the hilt, aiming at the floor. Elizie did not know why he had yet to ignite the other one, but she wasn’t overly impressed by the weapon. Just as she had predicted, the advantage of greater range would be on her side. The Arkanian did not want to allow her confidence to threaten her position, but she certainly believed this match would end up in her favour. In the end, Uri had one unusable weapon in his left hand that posed no threat whatsoever and actually helped Elizie, the weapon in his right hand held normally, but so pathetically short it would be no match whatsoever for the girl’s Makashi and its superior reach. That, plus her left hand remained free, ready to use the Force if needed. Uri had no such advantage. This certainly made this match seem fairly one-sided, but then again, Uri’s strange weapons appeared to turn every fight in his opponent’s favour, the very nature of those strange blades. The golden-skinned Padawan must have developed an effective tactic that utilized these weapons, Elizie felt certain of it.

She had to see the opponent’s style and tactic first, but that wasn’t to say she wasn’t aware of several dangers. The blade in his left did not worry her at all, though the other one could theoretically catch her long blade and prevent her from carrying out her attack. Still, Elizie believes the greater reach of her lightsaber and form would grant her victory. In fact, the Arkanian had the ability to attack the Padawan’s body without him being able to bring his blades near her extended hand holding the lightsaber. Another smile’s been sent his way and Elizie took another long stride forward, carrying herself with grace and elegance that defined her. Two more strides like this and she’d be able to attack without fearing of being attacked herself.

Uri expected a different reaction as he ignited his blade, but she seemed to be rather at ease, even getting closer to him. He glared at her but with a amused smirk on his face. A sudden light went on in his head as he realized he was being baited. Her quick yet precise strides forward. She wanted him to get impatient. She wanted him to come after her. He wouldn't do it. She had reach on her side. She knew this now. He imagined her attack of choice would be forward jabs. Extending her weapon while staying out of his short reach. He had to be quick or distract her if he wished to get in close. Uri tried not to let her cocky little grin get to him, but he found it funny. She was a pride full creature, and he didn't doubt she had already decided she won. He decided the same thing after all not because of the weapon she favored however but because she was smarter more tactical than him and not as large or clumsy.

He took the moment to watch her footwork. This is where he believed to be her true strength. Not the length of her weapon. If he had a way to mess up her foot work, then he could grab the upper hand. He simply watched her at the moment watching for subtle chances. He kept his stance he had when he first ignited his sai. He didn't move except for leaning forward slightly. bracing himself in his stance just incase she got dirty and decided to start with a force push. He didn't imagine she would however. This was a test of skill with a lightsaber and he hoped that she would like to test her blade against his. He was fully prepared to wait her out. Even if it meant waiting in that one spot for most of the day. He kept his focus solely on her.

Elizie observed her duelling opponent. He wouldn’t budge. Not knowing exactly what it meant, the Arkanian assumed Uri’s first move to be a quick lunge forward, most likely while trying to push her blade aside with his lightfork and get past her defences. Her friend most likely wanted to appear completely stationary and surprise her with a sudden move. Well, she was ready for him.

With that in mind, the girl took another step closer, slightly retracting her arm to allow for future stabs. Uri undoubtedly expected those, but then again, a Makashi user could always change the direction and nature of their entire attack with a simple flick of wrist. Jabs became cuts, direct strikes nothing but feints,… This would be an interesting duel, indeed. The white-haired Padawan’s white eyes bore into the golden-skinned boy’s skull, her intense stare also meant to lock their gazes and allow for easier distraction later.

Just as a fussy cat walking around the desired cream, Elizie started to circle around the Padawan, good one step still separating her lightsaber from the target. Her footwork was truly delicate as she sidestepped, almost as if dancing softly on the floor, waiting for her partner to join the dance as she circled him and waited for her opportunity, be it his strike or the right moment for her own attack.

Uri felt a little antsy when she stepped into range. Not in range for him, but for herself. Elizie was one step from a strike where Uri needed two. He exhaled watching her as her eyes didn't leave his. Her solid sclera reaching into him and threatening to take his soul. He didn't give her the luxury instead his eyes danced between her footwork and her lightsaber. He couldn't afford to loose concentration this soon in the match.

He mentally cursed as she began to side step. He couldn't let her move too far to his side. He slide his foot across the ground making sure not to lift it just incase he needed to quickly plant his foot. He turned to remain facing her but holding his position where he stood. She had a certain delicacy about her movement. He studied it just as he had her previous advances learning her predictive dance. She seemed keen on keeping herself at bay. He opened his mouth slightly about to whistle for her. Call her to him like a pet. Uri decided against this however. He didn't want her to know that was what he wanted.

Her fancy side stepping messed with his own stance. Uri now had his left leg forward right back. He quickly changed his hands as well as he moved them to correct his stance. The sai in his left hand still not ignited but he flipped it in his hand going from the reverse hold back into offensive pointing it to just in front of his foot. His right hand held the ignited sai held in front of his chest ready to block her forward momentum.

Makashi was all about waiting for the right moment to strike, looking for the opponent to make that mistake that would give the Makashi user an opportunity to deliver a swift strike. And Uri did that very thing when he flipped the reversed weapon within his left hand. That was a moment of his weakness, a split second for Elizie to make one swift step, fully extending her hand flicking her wrist upwards, bringing the green-colored blade of her lightsaber above Uri’s head in a way that indicated she wanted to attack him from above. One simple move later though, the Arkanian suddenly moved the weapon to her left and downwards, moving it around Uri’s right side in a wide arch before swiftly moving to the right again in a slash against his knees, immediately followed by retracting her hand holding the lightsaber and taking a step back again.

Flipping the sai from defensive was and easy and quick task for him. Done with only a short flick of the wrist as it followed around his fingers and thumb 180 degrees to offensive position. Uri trained in such away that switching between the two was almost second nature. This is why he was slightly surprised but ultimately ready when she chose this second to attack. She did exactly what he wanted her to. His eyes never left Elizie so when she shot forward with her saber raised, at that time he brought his right hand up slightly then tossed the ignited light sai to where her foot would land. She was gracious enough to show him her forward footwork three times before so his sai landed in the same spot just after her foot did. The center saber and one of the side prongs straddling her foot. Luckily not jabbing into her but definitely burning into the sides of her boot. He would feel bad if he were to cripple his friend after all.

In the same moment as the sai left his hand, Uri took a step to the side out from under her saber and on the outside of her body. The two steps separating him from her had now vanished thanks to both of them. He was too focused on the moment to see her reaction to the lack of space. He kept his eye on her arm watching how she controlled her blade with mainly her wrist leaving the rest of her arm almost stationary. He didn't realize makashi had such a flaw. He saw now that her plan was never for a downward strike as she began to make a large arch with the blade. He her jabbed his last sai into her saber arm wedging it just above the elbow into two of the prongs, the sai in his left hand he never turned on. The reason being given now. If it were ignited the hot blades and metal would have burned her, plus if Elizie had moved the wrong way he could have sent the weapon into her ribs. In the same moment, his sent his empty hand to catch her wrist as she brought it back at him for a strike. Her speed meant little to nothing if she moved her hand into his grasp. He gasped loudly and bore his hand deeper into her wrist as her blade burnt into the tender skin on the side of his calf just below his knee just before he could jerk it away. His finger tips turning white with how tightly her grabbed her.

He reacted quicker than he had planned twisting the sai on her upper arm and pulling her wrist to locking her elbow. He pushed with the sai and pulled on her wrist bending her arm in such a way that it wasn't suppose to. Her arm letting Elizie know with a sharp pain. He kept the pressure on it so she couldn't regain focus. If she tried to bring her other hand up for a force push he planned to remind her of the pain. He used his knee behind her hip and forced her down on one knee. He could have muscled her on to lay on her stomach even force her to surrender, but he knew that this wasn't the meaning of the tournament. It was a test of swordsmanship. She was a prideful creature as well. He was certain she would be a little more than furious at him if he made her lose this way.

Uri held Elizie for a second focusing on her. The rest of the training room quiet. He could only hear her breathing mix with his own deep breaths. He let go of her arm slowly and backed away. A light pain tickled his right leg as he placed his foot. He lifted his right hand and used the force to call his other light saber back to him. He was sure that she respected him now and no longer underestimated him or the polar opposite. He didn't want to think about that however. His mind didn't even contemplate how he gave up victory. He respected Elizie too much to cheat her. He focused instead on getting distance again setting up for round two. He ignited his other sai holding two lit light sabers in his hands now. He then assumed what he knew as T stance. His left foot back turned sideways with the right foot's heel forward in front of his left foots arch. His right sai in offensive position in front of him. His left sai flipped in defensive position guarding his forehead.

Something hot hit her foot, yet her eyes remained fixed on her fellow Padawan, the very sight revealing he had sent away his weapon. It did nothing, given the “fork’s” low-power setting meant for training and Elizie’s sturdy leather boot that stopped the orange blade from actually burning her foot. The small weapon bounced off and remained lying on the ground, turned off. Was this meant as a distraction? The Arkanian could not be certain, but her opponent had just dropped one of his weapons and was on the move to get past her extended blade. This, combined with Uri’s sidestep to the right, in the opposite direction of the way of her blade, resulted in Elizie switching into defensive mode, forcing her to forego her attack as she retracted her arm, twisting her wrist to the right to make the tip point at Uri again, and sidestepped to the left, also taking a step backwards just to ensure the gap between the two of them remained.

This was a close call, but the Arkanian knew had she remained stationary, she would have been defeated. The free hand of the Arkanian telekinetically stole the fork-like lightsaber from the duelling ring’s floor, grasping its hilt firmly in the four digits of her free hand, but not igniting it. She did not know how to fight with two weapons, having started practicing ambidexterity only recently, though she did not rule out the possibility as she unleashed a flurry of short jabs in her opponent’s direction, using the fact he held only one weapon now in her favour. Her feet carried her around him, trying to get into his unprotected side that had no lightsaber to defend it, while also staying out of his attacking range, taking a step back if needed.

"Ready, Princess?" He taunted with a grin on his face seeing this match as more of a game with his friend rather than a serious competition.
