In approximately 30,000 BBY, the Rakatan Infinite Empire arrived in the Kiev'aran system. Their arrival was not incidental.

For the first time since their creation, the twin gods were no longer aligned.
Sensing the presence of the Rakata through dark reverberations in the Force, Saurav'ix acted unilaterally. Rather than harvesting the Kiev'arians himself, he called out across the void luring the Rakatan Infinite Empire to Kiev'ara. His intent was deliberate: to abandon the True Kiev'arians to enslavement and extinction, and to seek a new species over which he could rule openly as a god, unburdened by compassion or restraint.
The arrival of the Rakata shattered what little stability remained.
As Rakatan forces descended upon the planet, Dra'ko confronted Saurav'ix. Their conflict escalated beyond ideology into open divine warfare. The clash of pure Light and pure Dark tore through the Living Force that sustained Kiev'ara, destabilizing it at a planetary scale.
In a single, world-spanning event, the True Kiev'arians were petrified where they stood entombed mid-motion, mid-flight, mid-battle. Their bodies crystallized, their souls sealed into Fire Tears embedded within stone-frozen forms. This was not preservation, nor mercy. It was catastrophic collapse, the result of a world whose very existence depended on forces now tearing it apart.
The twin gods destroyed one another. With both Dra'ko and Saurav'ix annihilated, Kiev'ara was left spiritually unanchored. The Rakata, now unopposed, enacted final exploitation. Using the Star Forge, they harvested Kiev'ara's sun, stripping the system of its stellar heart. Deprived of light, warmth, and Force resonance, the planet froze, its biosphere died, and Kiev'ara was cast into the void Force-dead, inert, and abandoned.
In the chaos that followed, only a handful of True Kiev'arians avoided petrification those already off-world or removed from the planet during the Rakatan incursion. These survivors escaped aboard a stolen Rakatan vessel and fled to Tython, seeking refuge.

Religion / Beliefs:
True Kiev'arian belief centered on the worship of the twin gods Dra'ko, god of life and creation, and Saurav'ix, god of death and war. These deities were believed to embody the natural cycle of existence: creation, struggle, death, and renewal.
Religious doctrine emphasized duty, honor, sacrifice, and balance. Death was not feared but revered as a sacred transition guided by Saurav'ix, while life was celebrated as a gift shaped by Dra'ko. The existence of Fire Tears was known, but believed to be a divine blessing souls preserved for guidance or protection, not consumption.
Only after the rediscovery of Kiev'ara did the true nature of this belief system become known: faith functioned as behavioral control, masking an engineered harvest cycle rather than divine stewardship.
General Behavior:
True Kiev'arian society was communal and hierarchical, structured around contribution rather than individual ambition. Family units formed the foundation of social life, with lineage and vocation deeply intertwined. Young were raised collectively within their families and trained from early childhood in the skills expected of their birth role.

True Kiev'arians were builders, hunters, and record-keepers. The history of the True Kiev'arians begins not with gods, but with the Celestials.
Kiev'ara was originally a Living Force world an anomaly even by Celestial standards. Its biosphere, geology, and atmospheric systems were deeply interwoven with the Living Force, creating a planet that did not merely host Force-sensitive life, but functioned in constant resonance with it. Recognizing its potential, the Celestials forcibly removed Kiev'ara from its native galaxy and transplanted it into the Unknown Regions, isolating it from external interference.
Rather than ruling the world directly, the Celestials initiated an experiment.
They created two entities: Dra'ko, composed of concentrated Light Side energy, and Saurav'ix, composed of concentrated Dark Side energy. These twin gods were not opposites meant to balance one another, but controlled variables manifestations of ideological extremes. The Celestials granted both entities unrestricted dominion over Kiev'ara, deliberately refraining from oversight to observe how a world governed entirely by the Force, and reliant upon it at every level, would develop.
Dra'ko and Saurav'ix were not instructed how to rule.
They were only allowed to act. In time, the twin gods shaped the world according to their natures. Rather than directly ruling its surface, they engineered a species to serve as both subjects and instruments of their philosophies: the True Kiev'arians. The species was constructed through divine bio-engineering, designed to be fully integrated with the Living Force. Every individual was capable of absorbing, refining, and storing Force energy throughout their life, transforming the population into a distributed, self-sustaining energy reservoir.
This design served two purposes. First, it allowed Dra'ko and Saurav'ix to rule indirectly, shaping society through belief, doctrine, and biological dependence rather than overt domination. Second, it created a renewable source of power. When a True Kiev'arian reached sufficient energetic saturation, the gods would harvest the individual—draining their accumulated Force energy and crystallizing their soul into a Fire Tear, which was then consumed to further empower the gods.
The species was never meant to persist indefinitely. It was meant to produce.
Early iterations of the Kiev'arians proved unstable, suffering catastrophic cellular failure due to uncontrolled Force accumulation. Through repeated refinement, the gods integrated Force-regulatory pathways into the nervous system and metabolism, stabilizing long-term accumulation while avoiding premature burnout. No natural lifespan limit was installed. Instead, population control was maintained through selective harvesting as individuals neared optimal saturation.
Over time, Kiev'arian civilization flourished. Culture, law, and religion were shaped to reinforce the system. Honor codes discouraged internal conflict. The absolute prohibition against Kiev'arians killing one another preserved population integrity. Death was ritualized and revered, reframed as sacred transition rather than loss. The existence of Fire Tears was acknowledged, but their purpose was deliberately misrepresented as divine preservation rather than consumption.
Kiev'ara later became integrated into an Infinity Gate network established by the Kwa, granting access to interworld trade and migration. Despite this exposure, Kiev'arian society remained at an early-to-late medieval technological level. Advanced technology was misunderstood, ritualized, or dismissed as magick. This stagnation was not enforced through decree, but subtly reinforced by divine influence and cultural doctrine, ensuring the population remained manageable and dependent.
When the Infinity Gate network abruptly failed, the world's artificial equilibrium collapsed. For generations, Kiev'ara had relied on the gates not only for trade, but for controlled migration. Numerous non-Kiev'arian species had settled across the planet, forming enclaves, client states, and hybrid societies alongside the native population. When the gates went dark, supply lines vanished overnight. Scarcity spread rapidly, and long-suppressed tensions between species escalated into open conflict.
As famine and unrest threatened to fracture the planet beyond recovery, a champion of Saurav'ix emerged and delivered what would later be recorded as a divine mandate. The presence of non-Kiev'arian species was declared an existential threat invaders whose continued existence risked the collapse of the gods' design and the corruption of Kiev'ara itself. Preservation of the world, and of the harvest cycle, was framed as a sacred obligation.
What followed was not war, but extermination.
The True Kiev'arians mobilized in a coordinated, planet-wide purge. Entire civilizations were eradicated in a systematic genocide that spared no non-native species. Cities were burned, oceans scoured, mountain holds broken, and sanctuaries annihilated. The prohibition against Kiev'arians killing one another remained intact but no such law applied to outsiders. Within a short span of time, Kiev'ara was rendered a mono-species world once more.
The True Kiev'arians ultimately reclaimed uncontested control of their planet, but the cost was catastrophic. Entire ecosystems collapsed, infrastructure lay in ruins, and the psychological scars of mass slaughter reshaped Kiev'arian culture permanently. The world survived but it did so hollowed and unstable.
In approximately 30,000 BBY, the Rakatan Infinite Empire arrived in the Kiev'aran system. Their arrival was not incidental.
In the aftermath of the genocide that rendered Kiev'ara a mono-species world, a fundamental schism formed between the twin gods. Saurav'ix, embodying pure Dark Side will, judged the True Kiev'arians to have reached the peak of their usefulness. The genocide had stripped the species of struggle, diversity, and resistance—qualities he deemed necessary only insofar as they increased yield. With the world secured and no further refinement required, he demanded the immediate harvesting of the entire population, seeking to consume their accumulated power in a single, absolute act.
Dra'ko refused. Where Saurav'ix saw only fuel, Dra'ko saw his children. Over centuries, his relationship with the True Kiev'arians had changed. What began as rule had become guardianship. He had come to care deeply for their lives, their culture, and their future, believing that they still had meaning beyond what they could provide in power. To Dra'ko, annihilating the species was not culmination it was betrayal.
For the first time since their creation, the twin gods were no longer aligned.
Sensing the presence of the Rakata through dark reverberations in the Force, Saurav'ix acted unilaterally. Rather than harvesting the Kiev'arians himself, he called out across the void luring the Rakatan Infinite Empire to Kiev'ara. His intent was deliberate: to abandon the True Kiev'arians to enslavement and extinction, and to seek a new species over which he could rule openly as a god, unburdened by compassion or restraint.
The arrival of the Rakata shattered what little stability remained.
As Rakatan forces descended upon the planet, Dra'ko confronted Saurav'ix. Their conflict escalated beyond ideology into open divine warfare. The clash of pure Light and pure Dark tore through the Living Force that sustained Kiev'ara, destabilizing it at a planetary scale.
In a single, world-spanning event, the True Kiev'arians were petrified where they stood entombed mid-motion, mid-flight, mid-battle. Their bodies crystallized, their souls sealed into Fire Tears embedded within stone-frozen forms. This was not preservation, nor mercy. It was catastrophic collapse, the result of a world whose very existence depended on forces now tearing it apart.
The twin gods destroyed one another. With both Dra'ko and Saurav'ix annihilated, Kiev'ara was left spiritually unanchored. The Rakata, now unopposed, enacted final exploitation. Using the Star Forge, they harvested Kiev'ara's sun, stripping the system of its stellar heart. Deprived of light, warmth, and Force resonance, the planet froze, its biosphere died, and Kiev'ara was cast into the void Force-dead, inert, and abandoned.
In the chaos that followed, only a handful of True Kiev'arians avoided petrification those already off-world or removed from the planet during the Rakatan incursion. These survivors escaped aboard a stolen Rakatan vessel and fled to Tython, seeking refuge.
