Troubled Times Ahead

Chimaera-TCGIE_zpsqhh6bgav.png
[member="Coci Heavenshield"]

In orbit of the World, the Chimaera stood well out of place and no doubt pulled the attention of all passing vessels traversing to and from the Capital planet of the Silver Jedi Order's territories. It had been weeks since Veiere had started his search for [member="Lady Kay"] alongside [member="Ultimatum"], [member="Thraxis"], [member="Riven Black"], [member="Darben Skirae"] and[member="Ghorua the Shark"]; he had even gone so far as to contact [member="Samka Derith"] of the First Order with small to no affect despite the groups rather unusual origins and their many contacts. Now he traveled to Voss, without the company of any of them and only an army of the 501st who stood fiercely loyal yet would hold no purpose here. The Silver Jedi Order; in Veiere's mind it was the last standing remnant of the old Jedi Order that he had once called home. Those of the Galactic Alliance had attacked Atrisia and played their hand in killing countless innocents just for the sake of five men; Veiere had seen the blind devastation of a world at the cost of an extraordinary level of selfishness that he no longer held faith in the Jedi of the Galaxy at all. It was here, however that he'd spent his last days with Kay Larr during the ceremony that would see [member="Ryn'Dhal"] ascend the rank of Jedi Master; the same day that Veiere had met with Coci Heavenshield, the mother to a man considered a close personal friend, Theodred.

A week, that's what the going estimate was where someone you loved was kidnapped and you had any real hope of finding them again; at least that was when it was a President of a small but well-liked world such as Commenor. Alas it had been approximately three by now and the weight of it all had begun to show, the burden upon Veiere's shoulders wearing him down.

"My Lord...".

His eyes opened abruptly, greeted by the First Officer with the need to speak up while the rest of the bridge had been quietly going about their tasks for the good of the massive Star Destroyer; the vessel itself was a well known war ship of the former Empire and much later the Sith Empire who had taken it. Of all the people whose hands the vessel might fall into, it was Cyril Grayson, a former Jedi and traitor Sith Lord who walked both sides a Martyr in the hope of finally bringing all the conflict of these Orders to an end, that had given everything to Veiere on the eve of his return to the Force.

"We've just received confirmation, Sir. Voss is ready to receive you".

Slowly, he turned to offer a solemn nod to the man whose uniform resembled a fallen empire. They were all loyalists to a dictatorship once, they still held pride in their uniforms symbolizing the Imperial Navy and to this Veiere had not argued. Taking ownership of such a vessel had it's own set of difficulties and breaking the morale of the crew whose numbers were in the thousands just did not seem like a smart idea when they were already set at odds with having to work under the guise of a Jedi Knight turned rogue.

"I go this one alone, Captain Ansion. You have the bridge until my return, keep her out of trouble and inform me should you so need.." he replied quietly. His eyes lined with a look of ware, countless nights of restlessness taking the best of him during such a time. His footsteps bore the weight of his armor, they fell heavy against the floor with the sound of metal against durasteel; he had rarely been seen out of it in the days since he had left Commenor yet today would need to be one such day if he were to not offer the wrong impression. His quarters were held a ways further back within the head of the giant adrift; a tunic much akin to his old robes of tradition, only these were black with the sache embroidered down the seams with grey and silver lining. As always his lightsaber would remain at his hip though the overall demeanor would feel much more respectable in his coming to meet one of the leading Jedi Masters of the Silver Jedi Order.

Though the crew were reluctant to let their Admiral leave the vessel alone and without even a small military escort, Veiere's word had become the new law upon the Chimaera and dressed as he was, he wrapped his gray robe around his shoulders, the tone putting subtle emphasis to the new tunic that he wore beneath, soon heading for the Lambda Shuttle his personal pilot and still his employee, Cillian Braedon would take him down on.

Only very briefly had they met after Ryn's ceremony and had the opportunity to exchange pleasantries, but Coci knew of the man, through Théo. Her son had mentioned him, when speaking of his time in self-imposed exile after the death of Thrand. That seemed like a life time ago now and much had changed since, for all the family. A Jedi through and through it appeared, one steeped in the values of old, a very rare quality in the galaxy these days. The galaxy had changed, and so to the Jedi. And yet, a lot remained the same, war. Was a constant in his place of perpetual chaos. The Yin and Yang in eternal motion that would always be. Peace? it would never come, but one needs to have hope, and continue to strive for it or else there is no point to existence.

Coci stood on the landing pad, and awaited the arrival of the Jedi Knight Arenais. She is curious as to why he had contacted her asking for a meeting, but never is she one to deny those in need. It seemed he was in need. His clearance assured by Control and soon the sight of the Lambda ship appeared in the skies over Voss and made good head way toward ground. The ground crew bustled about ready to take care of his ship, refuel if required.

It was a little chilly today, the breeze whistling through the nearby hangar set a strange ambiance through the air, as if bode an event on the horizon. But the ill wind did not come from the him, it was further in the distance and soon would come to pass. Ossus. The Jedi eye would turn that way soon enough.
[member="Veiere Arenais"]
Apologies for the delay!

The transition from the Chimaera to solid ground was a welcome one; despite being a man who had loathed flying the majority of his life, his new command of the former Imperial Star Destroyer had rather forced his hand in having to grow more and more accustomed to it. Never in all his time had he presumed that he would one day be an Admiral to a ship of such a size, let alone of so many thousands of crewmen living under him on station.

"Master, we're here..." Cillian called from the cockpit of the lambda shuttle, Veiere in the bulk of the transport vessel still within ears range, began to unstrap himself from one of the many personnel chairs, this specific variation of the lambda shuttle used more often for conveying troops from one station to another, far less than doing the bidding of someone of command or esteemed rank; yet Veiere cared more for the humble things in life and less for being picky over who and what state of transport would carry him. He had arrived on Voss safely and that was all that mattered to him. "Thank you Cillian..." Veiere responded in kind with a brief yet genuine smile, stepping ahead to enter the cockpit half way and look to his friend, the young pilot of no sensitivity in the force still held a great respect for force users which was rare in itself but he went the distance to treat an old man such as Veiere with a manner in which most youth seemed to have forgotten in these days; "I appreciate your agreeing to stay on with me, it's good to have someone you know to be a friend rather than a soldier who simply does as they're told..." He rolled his eyes in something of an expression of sarcasm, a half smirk broaching his smile to which soon faded as he gazed out the front of the vessel; "Worry not, we're on friendly soil now. Take the time to rest if you need it...", he gave a reassuring nod before turning and moving towards the landing ramp, his left hand reaching out for the activation module and slowing none as it began to descend, he along with it until his feet found the landing pads floor.

[member="Coci Heavenshield"] stood waiting for him, much to his surprise he had expected something of a welcoming committee though was appreciative to see that even in today's light, there still seemed leading members within the Jedi Order humble enough to stand on their own in such times. "Lady Heavenshield..." Veiere greeted her too with a smile though not as familiar with her as he was with Theodred, he stopped a short distance from her before bowing at the waist in formal respect, a greeting and acknowledgement of another Jedi as was the old custom; "I appreciate your willingness to receive me. You'll have to forgive the manner of my arrival, the Chimaera lays in orbit only due matters outside of the Order's territories..." He took pause, a moment to consider their surroundings and who might be watching with attentive ears, harmless as they might be; "Matters that I seek guidance help with, if you'd hear me out". There was a great deal he could discuss with her, some things in part were personal; not simply [member="Lady Kay"]'s disappearance but his own struggles in serving the will of the Force; something that he wondered if he could even recognize these days.

Don't even worry about it, ours are threads to be enjoyed, there's no need to feel rushed! :)

A returned bow of respect afforded to Jedi was swiftly given. "Please, call me Coci and it is a pleasure to meet you. I have much about you from Théo", she added with a smile before turning and indicating for Veiere to follow alongside her. From the hangar they would walk toward the meditation gardens next to the Silver Temple, not far from where Ryn's ceremony had taken place.

"Guidance you say", she asked pushing open the gate to the fountain gardens. Already the sound of water cascading filled the area and a gentle mist sprinkled their faces. It is a place of quiet contemplation, all Silver Jedi use in times of need. And it is one of her favourite places on Voss. Beyond the walls at the far end is the orchard which which the peach trees are in fruit and the aroma of the flesh ripe for the picking plays on the senses.

"What has happened to have your mind plagued so", she asked at they began their journey down the path of stone pavings among the thick small bushes. "And will you be staying long with us, we would be delighted to have you with us for as long as you wish. I am sure Théo would very much like to catch up with you although I do believe he is on Midvinter at the moment".
[member="Veiere Arenais"]

As they entered into the Fountain Gardens, Veiere found himself looking upon a place that lay in the serene light of his past; the calm of the area usually easily received though today not so much given his background of late, the musk of the Dark Side taint still hung around him, faint but there. "I realize my coming to you might be somewhat unorthodox though I didn't wish to involve your Son in my affairs. Your sect of the Order here remains in good standing with the Commenori; another reason why I wished to speak with either you or your husband personally..." His voice seemed to catch in his through and he fell silent in a moment of contemplation, considering how best to speak of such things to someone that didn't hold the same history with him as Theodred did; "I was present briefly on Atrisia during the battle between the Galactic Alliance and the remaining Sith...-A long time friend of mine, a man named Cyril Grayson asked for my help and I found myself entering a conflict not solely physical...". It seemed the best place to begin, everything had arisen and fell with the day he entered into the battle in the hope of bringing his fallen brother away from certain end. He'd been unsuccessful and the result, all the same.

How best to explain his affliction and why it mattered so, not to him but to the safe return of another. "The President of Commenor has been abducted" He spoke the words as quickly and painlessly as he could though to no avail, the grimace that took him would have been apparent had [member="Coci Heavenshield"] been paying even the slightest of attention. "I know not by who, nor do I know the full extent of the people she has angered in the past, justified or otherwise....-I know not who to turn to. We have friends in several systems but I know too that friendship is not something that unifies alliances, it only obligates them...", he followed the path at a slow pace beside her, speaking upfront and perhaps a little too honestly though his pain had been building for some time and it was quickly becoming a matter of desperation. They had heard nothing of [member="Lady Kay"] and had even less to go on.

As his eyes swept the many rose bushes around them, he forced himself to take a deep and slow breath, if not for his sake then at-least not to be so rude as to offer more truth than she might readily accept. Strangely enough, in such a place his mind moved back to his days on Svivren. 'When one or more people of a faith in the force gather, the proof of the light becomes ever so apparent'. He had said this once though it seemed a different life. He had met with hostility countless times, it was part of the Jedi Path but to see so much violence left unchecked and the galaxy turned on its head as it was, eventually it all seemed to have gotten the best of him and his formerly iron-clad belief in the will of the Force and his following of the light, now no longer seemed to shine so bright.

"I have come on the hope that should Commenor need of it, we can be rest assured that our ties with the Silver Jedi remain strong...-Though I too have my personal reasons. There is a great weight on my shoulders, I cannot shake the taint...-I do not have the sight to see clearly enough to know what I must do anymore; how to come back from the path I have walked down...-That is the guidance I seek".

"I do sense you concerns Veiere", by this she could sense the darkness within the man but she has sensed more in Jedi even in the Order, even still with them as they speak. "The path of the Jedi is a hard one on which we walk. We are demanded of the galaxy to be good and without fault, but that is simply not possible. We are sentient beings as well and riddle with emotions and fears and doubts not only in our own capacity to perform, Force knows we pile the pressure on ourselves more then anyone can, but also because we feel the need to strive for what the galaxy demands of us". And in that, Jedi will always fail.

"The old code, which to the best of my ability, I adhere to, and like most things, it is open to subjection, because those that read it or try and abide by it will have their own views on it. Once upon a time the Jedi were very ridged in their approach, and maybe that worked in that era, everything has a time and place in history but that does not work today. My view, is that the Jedi of old wished to remove all fears and doubts from themselves in order to be better, stronger and in some cases it worked .. for them. And others failed. But what they feared the most, what they tried to rid themselves of, was the very thing that would have made them stronger, more powerful. They were absolute in their views .. remind you of something?".

Coci stopped them both from walking and found a place in isolation within the gardens in which Veiere could speak freely. And she sat on a stone wall that bordered a bed of flowers in bloom. "You have come to Voss to seek guidance, help to understand the feelings you have around the Lady Kay and what has happened to her. Which is normal and will cloud your judgement, especially if it is feelings new to you. Are you in love with her?".
[member="Veiere Arenais"]

It should not have surprised him that [member="Coci Heavenshield"] would refer to the old code and the lifestyle of the Order that was traditionally ingrained within him; she had obviously her from her Son on the times where Veiere and Theodred both had shared their respective views on the nature of the Jedi Order in today's society; it was only natural that she would then use it as a centerfold to help to alleviate his concerns regarding the current shape of their cause and Veiere's own difficulty to fit into it. Did it sound familiar to him? Yes, it was his life for the first three decades since he could walk, yet it had been set aside following a number of his own failures in trying to work alongside those still loyal to the governments outside of the Silver Jedi Order's territories. This, followed by the companionship of [member="Lady Kay"] had all but convinced him to step away from the once dedicated and now very much a forgotten path; or at least in the sense of what it used to be.

Coci moved to take a seat upon the small stone wall, the variety of flowers all colored and vibrant echoing the beauty that was Voss itself; he moved to her side to more-or-less lean against it, his eyes searching the clearing about them, the gardens and the stream, those few further off in the distance who were in line of sight yet out of ears reach. She was of course true in her words, Veiere had come for guidance though he had not obviously come too well prepared. Given the lack of force practitioners within his company of late, he hadn't been expecting someone to read him quite as easily as Coci seemed to be picking up on his aura and by extension, the ripples within the force that he inadvertently offered, inspired by his emotional state. Glancing back to Coci with something of a look of admittance, he must have appeared similar to a deer caught in the headlights. "I am..." He responded quietly though the reluctance came only afterwards, earnest in his honesty before it. "I have been for a long time now..." he added, it was almost spoken in guilt though he refused to look at his love for Kay as a negative thing; he simply understood just how far he had shifted from the life that he had once lived.

A smile pulled at her lips when Veiere responded however it did not last long because the situation of Lady Kay was dire indeed. And even though Veiere had come to her for guidance, Coci suspected that it was help he required to find her. This she could understand beyond all else. "Firstly, I do sense the pull of the darkness around you, but do not confuse this with emotions setting your mind unclear, but you have come here to Voss to seek me out which is the first step back from it, the darkness. You could have gone wondering about the galaxy looking for her and with each sector traveled you would find yourself further lost".

She thought for moment, searching for the best way in which to help him, not only to find Lady Kay but himself, once more. "The Silver Temple and the Library here on Voss and Ossus is open to you to use. Stay a while before you head out again to find her, and do what searching you need through the Silver Order. There are many here within the Silver Jedi that would be more then willing to help you, in all aspects of what you seek".

"Use the love you have for Kay, in you quest but do so with intelligence and fortitude in your belief of the lightside. You will be no good to her if you follow the path of the darkside for if she is .. or has succumbed to it then she will need you strong".
[member="Veiere Arenais"]

Veiere nodded thoughtfully, his brows furrowed in a foreboding sense of conflict over his current interests. "I've just over twelve thousand personnel aboard the Chimaera...-Given the number and their expertise, moving from one system to the next with little a care would have proven ill-advised, I'd thought. Sadly, we are in a time where wars are started over the simplest of misunderstandings...-Upon Atrisia I lost a close friend due to a difference and beliefs and it was those beliefs that started another war and saw to the loss of thousands of innocent's...-Trust me when I say that I would like nothing more than to find Kay but care is needed, knowing who to approach and who I might likely intimidate or grieve in my search"; Atrisia had been a battle between the Sith and the Galactic Alliance's sect of the Jedi Order. To Veiere's shock, it had been the Jedi that had invaded and brought the fight where there had been no true incentive beyond the alignment of the Sith in the Force. They had hurt not a single soul and Cyril Grayson, the former commander of the Chimaera and the 501st Legion had returned to the Force, his life given for the fight that the Sith had waged in defense of a nation who had accepted them and taken them in. He had given everything to Veiere, and he knew not what to do with it all. In truth, he did not know what concerned him more. Seeing the Jedi of the GA become slayers of good people, or the fact that by his mere answering the call of his brother, Cyril had enabled him to lead an army formally affiliated with the Sith Empire. Was this how people so easily came into power these days...

His eyes darted back to find [member="Coci Heavenshield"] studying him; she was wise as she was vibrantly surrounded by the light of the Force. He had not met Thurion Heavenshield for a great length of time either though it was obvious where Theodred had gained his wits from, the younger lad just barely grown a man the day that Veiere had first met him, showed far more reason and maturity than most that Veiere had the pleasure of conversing with. Things had drastically changed since. "I thank you for your offer, Coci. Perhaps I should have accepted far sooner when your Son had suggested the same..." He smiled briefly, a polite gesture though not to resemble his current state but rather the gratitude for her willingness to help him in whatever way the Silver Jedi Order could. "I must confess...-My faith in the Jedi Order has been shaken greatly. My faith in myself even more so. The Jedi of the Republic did not take well to my time there, I fear the conclave on Yutan only stirred things greater though my intentions were just. Perhaps I have been in the wrong for a time longer than I had the strength to acknowledge; I do not truly know where my place is on the path anymore; too much has happened much to fast...".

"We can not be everywhere for everyone, we can not be everything to everyone and I do hope that you accept my invitation to stay with us on Voss for while at least". She turned to smile, but forced as it was she meant it. The galaxy has moved on greatly since the days of the old masters that both he and she admire. The Jedi Order had not been the same in some time in fact, it had gotten caught up in politics will beyond their capacity and even though the words of the serpents, the Senators, had been laced with honey, filled with purpose of protection to negate any misgivings the Jedi may have had, they were only words and with hidden agenda. The fall of the Republic had come at a great cost, not only to the peoples of the systems they had professed to protect, but to the Order.

"You experience with the Jedi outside of the Jedi Order, would have given you much insight as to why there are fractured groups. So many Jedi have differences in views that most of the time they are fighting each other, not the darkness and no matter how many talks or conferences they might wish to have, none ever bear fruit of any common ground or purpose. It is sad but it is fact. What is the cause of this? I do not have have the knowledge enough to answer that".

"But what we all fail to remember is that Jedi are not god like beings, we make mistakes. The old Jedi of the past did as well even though they had far more strict codes around themselves, they did not have the capacity to rid themselves of the frailties that make us 'human' .. and nothing has changed from that day till this". But the fight must go on, for as long as one has the capacity to do it, both physically and spiritually.

"Easy to say I am aware, but do not be so hard on yourself Veiere, faith is like glass and easily chipped or broken but it is also strong if you believe and stand against those that have only one purpose in life .. that of to take you down with them and shatter you. Faith is to tested, you are as well but remember when you face those times of darkness, the light is always there for you, it is remember that that is the trick". Coci had and will again, see Jedi of the Silvers fall to the darkness or simply loose faith, whether it is the fault of hers or her husbands maybe. But at the end of the day, they can not be everywhere for everyone, nor everything to everyone ....
[member="Veiere Arenais"]

"I will admit that the failure of the Conclave and the end-result was a weight I carried with me for a long time. Not only had I realized the state of the once unified Order, I too harbored resentments because of it. Both things out of my control perhaps though the latter was very unbecoming of a Jedi Knight..." He glanced to [member="Coci Heavenshield"] with a brief smile that seemed to echo a forced line of humor somewhere in what he'd said, the irony perhaps if nothing else was that he had tried to strengthen the Jedi under the Republic and by becoming so involved, he had lost sight of himself to an arrogance that had been built upon the backs of perspectives that did not coincide with his own. Regardless of whether or not he could have helped, trying to oppose the beliefs and perspectives of others was not of the path he was taught to follow.

"For thirty years I served under the Jedi Order, the enclave upon Svivren was not unlike the many other branches of Jedi we had pocketed across the galaxy. Coruscant was the heart once but our Order bled across the far corners of the galactic map..." His gaze lifted as he thought back to the life he'd once had, looking to the sky though seeing only his memories unveil before him; "I had a Padawan, Brennan Cabrol...-Proud lad but loyal...Perhaps a little too much..." His words slowed, his brows lifting and his expression shifting to emphasize his remorse. "The war with the Sith Empire grew to large for our branch to ignore, even so far from the heart of the galaxy. We acted upon our hope to make a difference, the retaliation was swift and precise...-We lost everything. I lost everything" his eyes drifted back down, slowly turning to glance back to Coci. "The Republic was the last stone cast that I thought would break all other stones. Kay gave me a way out, with her it was a good life, one similar to the life of a Jedi but through other means. Diplomacy, discretion and valuable relations...-It was all new" he smiled soon after, a genuine smile if not a little hesitant.

"The Force truly does work in mysterious ways however because despite everything, I have been brought back here and now she is out of my reach...", there was frustration there, clear and vocal though not directed at Coci in any means. His gaze again turned away from her to arc out across their little enclosure, the gardens a sight for sore eyes really, a picture he could truly appreciate. "I will not forsake her but...-I know I will not succeed in anything without the Force as my ally, as my guide. What can I do for the Silver Order?".

Loss. No matter the level of it, or how it is sustained, people are effected by it and that effect will shape ones destiny. Some, Coci had seen grow stronger because of it, others would fall and become the very thing they hated or lived to fight against. This was probably the saddest of losses, to loose everything including yourself to devastation and ruin.

However, Veiere had not succumbed to it, in fact his being here told Coci the man was indeed more stronger in character then he realised and she would do all she could to help him. There is no point in fighting for those that do not want to be saved, no point in wasting time, lives in the galaxy can be removed in the blink of an eye and time will always win at the end of the day. What mattered was the ability to continue with hope, against the odds that peace would never be achieved .. all else what is the point.

Veiere Arenais, had lived it, questioned himself and others, factions and the like until he drew upon his own mind for clarity and that clarity was that he needed help. "What you can do for the Silver Jedi is to teach". The man had a lot to give in this regard, life experience, force abilities that would aid other Jedi in becoming stronger to serve their purpose as well as that of the Order. "Teach the Jedi within our Order of your experiences, to combat the likes of such you have knowledge of. Against the constant assault of doubt in everything not just ones self and how to see the clear path". And in so doing, Veiere will find his own way through the clouded field of doubt in which he walks.

"I offer you a position within the Temple as one of our resident Masters", she hoped he would think on this.
[member="Veiere Arenais"]

To be offered a position as an Academic Master, not the rank but more important to Veiere, the position of tutor and mentor to prospective Jedi of the Silver Order. He inhaled slowly through his nose, lips tightly pursed as his gaze lowered in reflection. Such an offer was all he had wanted since Svivren had been left a ruin, yet the timing of it all...-How would this detract from his search for [member="Lady Kay"] and his service to Commenor. The truth of Commenor was that with the lack of Kay's presence, his place there held little purpose compared to his ability and experience living within the Jedi Order of old. With the Silvers, Veiere could see a clear path once again, one that answered years of loss and confusion.

"I never expected to be in such a position, such is my life of late..." He chuckled much to his own dismay, sarcasm and humor were more often than not his shield from uncertainty and embarrassment. "You honor me with your offer, truly. I do wish to instruct others in the Force as I used to once, long ago...-Yet with all that I have before me..." He extended his right hand to his side as if to emphasize the past and his predicaments. Reluctantly he would have to agree, it was of course what he wanted yet his desires were split now, his love for Kay and his love and decades of dedication to the Order. "I will gladly accept, however..." He paused, a somewhat conflicted crease forming across his forehead, a frown of guilt and separated interests taking hold; "I must first discern my troubles, I need to see where my current path leads before stepping off into a new one. Should my troubles follow me as I seek to guide others, I fear my efforts could be compromised...-Whether I manage to find Kay or not, I will learn to dedicate myself to the Order's teachings once more".

"I do hope you understand, I am most grateful but too much too fast can be more harmful than good...-Sooner or later, I will teach your students".

Absolutely accepting! It will follow the latest thread regarding Commenor and the Madame Presidents return.

"Of course Veiere", she smiled as she stood up from her seated position. After all the man did not come here for a job, but guidance and she hoped that some of her words might have helped but he had a personal mission he needed to complete before he could dedicate himself to such things as teaching. The Silver Jedi would benefit from a man like this, with all his experiences in the galaxy and with life itself. These are lessons only walking among the star can give you, and not taught in class rooms, but his words and guidance to younglings and padawans alike would be most valuable.

"You must follow the path on which you walk, until the conclusion and I would not deviate you from it. However, go with steal in your heart and mind, push away the darkness with the power of the light, as you know .. you will be of little use to Kay if you doubt yourself or the lightside". There is power in the darkness of course, only fools deny this, and the temptation is great for all, not just Jedi.

"When you are ready, when your heart is at rest .. return to Voss and become our mentor. I shall leave you now as I have to get to my duty, but please take what you require from the Temple to aid you in your mission. May the force be with you Knight Arenais". Coci gave him a bow of her head and turned to leave the gardens for the Silver Temple.
