Well, that sucked......

The whole chit that went on during the Chancellor election turned out to be a disaster of epic proportions. The man who was supposed to pay Tok a lot of credits turned out to be some Droid working for some shadowy government or something and self-destructed nearly taking the Senate with him and Tok himself. Thankfully, Tok managed to hide under the stage before the explosion and only escaped with some minor scraping. Now he needed to get back home but the problem is he's shaken and broke and is now in the most dangerous area on Coruscant.

So, it's just like home then.

"Time to get some credits," Tok mumbled walking through the horde of shady people going to and fro to their business. "Maybe I can be a duct rat or a spy for the Hutts or perhaps I could sell some Deathsticks. Just gotta find somebody."

If there's one thing Tok knows about the underground, is that there's a job for anyone and the thief was ready to do anything.

Coruscant. The center of the core and the jewel of the Galactic Alliance. One of the most important and historic places in the whole galaxy. The planet that never sleeps. The big Shuura. If you could make it there you could make it anywhere and Blair had every intention of making it. The Galactic City Dance Company was for the first time since coming in control of the alliance getting set to perform " A New Hope." an ancient ballet, composed and choreographed hundreds of years in the past and performed only once every ten years to commemorate the first significant blow in the fall of the ancient Empire. It had it all, action, adventure, romance, loveable and terrifying characters in equal measure, and of course, wonderful music. There was an open call for the lead female character, a princess of Alderaan, and Blaire–plus six more girls–had traveled all the way from Hapes to try and claim the part. They were all among the best ballerinas Hapes had to offer and they would not be her only competition, every civilized world from the inner rim to the edge of wild space would be sending their best, no doubt, but Blaire knew in her heart like she knew the sound of her own mother's voice that the part was hers.

"You're sure you're going to be okay?" He asked in that voice that meant he was asking because he thought he should not because he wanted to. She giggled at him. Jaa Ardan was her escort, which he took to mean "protector" and he at least liked to act like he took that role seriously. Jaa was Corellian with dark curly brown hair and bright blue eyes that she had to tilt her head to look into.

"What kind of trouble could I get into?" She asked him. That drew a crooked half smile to his face. Jaa knew exactly what kind of trouble Blaire was likely to get into, more than half the time he was right there in it with her. They talked through the open doorway of her hotel suite. He stood in the hallway with both hands on either side of the door frame and he leaned half way into the room and loomed over her like some great tree. He was so close she could smell his cologne and corellian whiskey. She was rather fond of that half-smile of his and had been since she was old enough to notice boys.

"Are you trying to get me to stay?" He asked, tucking a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. It was an overly familiar gesture and she felt her body grow warmer. Jaa was always doing things like that and getting himself in trouble for it. If her father had seen him do such a thing…

"No. Certainly not." She told the boy she had known since she was six and he was ten. His father had worked as a porter for her own, before they were both lost in the burning of Naboo. Before that particular tragedy though Jaa had suffered another, his mother and younger siblings were killed when their transport from Corellia to Naboo had been caught in the crossfire of some war between the Jedi and Sith. She didn't know which one. That tragedy and Jaa's station had never allowed for them to grow too close when they were young, though they were hardly strangers. It was in the last few years though that the two of them had been together on a professional level. After Jaa graduated from Naboo's military academy he returned to service with her father as a guard. Young, roguish, and rebellious, Jaa Ardan was perfect company for Blaire to drag into schemes and reckless youthful adventures. Having Jaa as her personal protector had likely saved his life when Naboo fell, she wondered if he had truly forgiven her for that. He hadn't really acted any differently toward her but boys liked to hide how they felt like keeping it inside was some favor they did for everyone else, that carrying a burden no one asked them too made them strong, somehow feeling worse made them feel better.

"Go have fun, Jaa. I'm going to get some sleep while I can, okay?"

He smiled, placed a hand on her cheek and swept off down the hall. They both knew he was supposed to stay with her and they both knew he was going to go and enjoy more of that whiskey with Cecile—one of the other ballerinas from Hapes—and they were both happier for it.

Blaire waited half an hour before changing out of her knight clothes and into something more suited for a night out. A long sleeved white top with a very modest neckline, a black skirt that stopped just at the knee, a pair of black leggings and comfortable black shoes. She waited another fifteen minutes and left her room taking the opposite direction down the hall that Jaa went. Soon she was on the street and hailing a droid occupied cab, she gave the droid some credits and requested her destination. Sometime later the droid was dropping her off and she was walking down the street, looking for, well anything, this was her night and she wanted to find some fun. She felt bad for lying to Jaa but she just knew that this was one step too far. If all the crazy and down right dumb things the two of them had done together she knew there was no way he was gonna be convinced to go with her this time.

To level 1313.

Tok took a deep breath holding on to his backpack which the straps were starting to rip apart. Sucks, he'll have to sew the straps back on when he gets home. Whenever he gets home, looking around the bustling level Tok spotted a small marketplace filled with merchants trying to sell different trinkets. Maybe one of them had some work for him. A male Grindalid was behind a booth saying that he has trinkets of all kinds for sale.

"Hey excuse me?" Tok asked. "You got some work for a kid needing credits? I can do anything you need? Advertise, sell, you name it."

"Hmmm," The Grindalid looked Tok up and down. "I can get something why don't you take these papers and place it on spots where people can see them? I'll pay you 120 credits for every new customer that comes here."

"Sounds like a deal." Tok said grabbing the stack of papers. "I think I know a few places."

Even though he hadn't been on Coruscant for long, Tok already made a mental note of a few key areas to go and avoid. It was something you pick up living on the streets most of your life.

This was just not what she was expecting. It was true that she hadn't had a very good idea of exactly what she was expecting but this wasn't it. It didn't matter how much someone read about the scum and grime of the underworld, if the rest of the story involved the noble heroine and the dashing rogue having daring adventures and falling madly in lust with one another, the grime and the scum somehow became romantic and exciting.

There was no single shred of romance to be found however. Twice already she had stepped in something wet and putrid, she almost tripped over a several piles of junk one of which had a jagged piece of scrap metal sticking out just around knee high, the dim lighting made it impossible to move more than half a step at a time and successfully avoid such dangers.

Worst above the dim, the wet, the junk, and the vagrants asleep in alleyways was the stink. A harsh angry acrid stench that made her head hurt and sent tears marching down her cheeks. It brought to mind a memory of her youth on Naboo. She and her siblings, Brandyn and Briana were perhaps nine years old when they accompanied their mother to a farmstead in Naboo's countryside. The farmer's kaadu had a wound on its leg that had become infected. Blaine's mother had been asked to see if she could use her skills with The Force to help heal the animal, and she had brought the three of them along.

She had of course been able to heal the creature but not before a vet had to literally cut the infection out of the animal's leg—something to do with the light side not being able to destroy something in order to heal or something—before her mother could do her magic, the smell had been so horrific that Blaire's nightmares had often included the stink. Thirteen-thirteen gave that smell a run for its credits.

"You, girl, yes, you." Called a grindalid in clipper accented hard to understand basic. "I got much good item. You be very happiness to look. Come look."

Blaire picked through the alien's stall before her hands stopped on a gorgeous necklace with an unbelievable bright blue gem.

"Surely not." She said softly. She turned the necklace over in her hands a few times and her eyes narrowed. "Where did you get this?" She asked the proprietor.

"Naboo." He answered.

"You did not." She said. "This is a fake." She said loudly. Maybe too loudly as a number of heads turned to look in her direction. Blaire decided not to push the issue any further and hurried away from the stall almost tripping once again only this time she nearly tripped over some kid with a torn backpack.

"Oh chit!" Tok landed on his rump clutching the papers he had in his hands for dear life. If those papers went flying everywhere then he would have to spend all night looking for them.

"Who the?!" Tok growled looking up at the person he bumped into but it wasn't just any person, it was a woman.

A beautiful woman.

"By the Force," Tok muttered his eyes growing wide. She was slender person with tan skin and wide eyes. The thief's heart beat a little faster seeing her. "I mean....." Tok shook his head rapidly he had to focus and get in the game not just gawk at a girl he barely knew. "Watch where you're going! I could've got seriously hurt ya know?"

"And you accused my products of being fake!" The merchant yelled. "How dare you! I've made sure that these items are authentic!"

Tok couldn't care less about the quality of the product it wasn't the first time sold fakes to rich folks. They were the primary consumers of cheap knockoffs. At first, Tok thought they were naive and were just falling for a scam but later he found out that many rich people just wanted a cheaper alternative so they can front.

Meanwhile armed men watched the girl and the boy from the distance while the merchant continued to rant and rave.

“Shiraya almighty, I am so sorry! Are you okay? I’m sorry, It’s dark, I’m a little lost and wasn’t watching where I was going. You’re sure you’re okay?” She said quickly as she held out a hand to the kid she had ran into.

“They are fake!” Blaire yelled back at the peddler, at least the necklace she had picked up was fake. It should’ve had a little mark on the back, a signature of the jeweler who purportedly made that relatively famous piece of Nubian artistry.

“I-I-I’m trying to get back to the surface” She told… “I’m Blaire by the way.” She said finally remembering her manners. “I’m trying to get back to the surface but I haven’t seen any more cabs down here and…”

Oh chit.

Her clutch was gone. She hadn’t noticed until now be the tiny purse she had brought with her was missing and so was her credits and her commlink. Shiraya be blessed she had really stepped in it now. Oh and her feet were wet from stepping in another friggin puddle.

What am I going to do now?
