TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
SPECIAL FEATURES

[*]Navigation:

[*]Defenses:

[*]
Electronic warfare:

Strengths:
  • Heavy long-range firepower
  • Molecular shields
  • Capable of flying in non-linear trajectories in hyperspace and in Otherspace
  • Can land on planets
  • Strong hull
  • Strong defenses (especially against EMPs, ion cannons and conner nets, but also point-defense)
  • Electronic warfare capability
Weaknesses:
  • Slow, unmaneuverable in realspace
  • Repulsorlift generator failures must be repaired in orbit
  • Exposed command tower
  • Exposed ventral hangar
  • Exposed aft tailfin
  • Cap drains require working shield generators to properly work
  • Limited HVC ammunition
  • If the heavy HVC magazines are penetrated, it will cause heavy damage, if not kill the ship outright - however the damage potential depends on how many rounds are left
  • Once the jammers are active, its own communications are jammed
DESCRIPTION:

The Tormentor was built from the frame of the Sionoma, in an attempt to address gaps in the combat ability afforded by an Otherspace-capable fleet, which, due to the rarity of Otherdrives and hence of ships that can reliably fight in Otherspace, is necessarily centered around the use of elite ships that minimize the need for escorts, while adding in electronic warfare ability. When the universal jammers are active, the ship's own communications are jammed, which causes serious problems for coordinating with its own carrier complement or with other ships in a battlegroup or fleet. Also, due to the vagaries of Otherspace combat, the Tormentor retains its ability to land on planetary surfaces so that it can land troops in ground assaults taking place in Otherspace (even though it can do that job just fine in realspace), filling in a gap for when the Otherspace equivalents of planetary or even sector campaigns are being waged that would be impossible to address with corvette-sized stealth dropships. Nevertheless, it shares a few flaws with its predecessors: exposed command tower, exposed aft tailfin and exposed ventral hangar, while an enemy that somehow manages to damage or destroy repulsorlift generators strips the ship of its ability to land on planets, and also their limited mobility has not been improved upon, making them slow and ponderous ships, as with most ships of that size.

It also features a host of other features compared to the baseline Sionoma: Along with its Otherdrive, a navicomputer has been installed in the ship that allows it to follow nonlinear paths in hyperspace or Otherspace, and the replacement of the Korriban heavy machineguns, due to ammunition constraints, the molecular shield generators are placed further inside the superstructure. In addition, the Haruna cap drains allow ion fire being taken to recharge shields so long as the shields are still up. Also, its outer layer of armor is explosive-reactive armor, which projects shrapnel in the direction of the hit being taken, deforming mass driver and HVC projectiles in such ways to make these weapons less effective. However, once the armor takes a hit at one place, it creates a chink in the armor at that location.

Consumables: 2 years
Cargo capacity: 3 million tons
Passenger capacity: 25,000
Minimal crew: 4,200
Optimal Crew: 12,000

Otherspace operation is very dangerous

These are not weaknesses, these are facts for all starships; please remove them.

Armament: Extreme (1520/20/150)
After analyzing the sub as a whole and considering pros vs cons I'm going to have to ask you to lower this to 'Very High' for balancing, please.
