Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Imperial Shipworks
Model: Tora-class drop pod
Affiliation: Atrisian Empire
Modularity: Internal blast walls and other life support systems can be removed.
Production: Mass Produced
Material: Durasteel
Description: The Tora-class drop pods were created to drop a fire team from a ship to a planetary surface very quickly. They are designed to be dropped or ejected from a capital ship, then descend through a planets stratosphere to land on the surface delivering its contents safely.

It does this through multiple means. First, it has a simple propulsion system to drive it, a repulsor lift to slow its decent just before impact, and a droid brain to manage the decent. Second the contents are kept from being squished on landing by internal dampeners and physical restraints. Finally the whole pod has various EMP/ion shielding methods implemented allowing it to pass through standard planetary shields.

Inside the pod, in standard configuration, is four separate compartments. Each is designed to hold a single soldier in full combat gear, a small life support system, and restraints keeping them safe during decent. The four compartments are separated by blast walls, so if one is breached the other three are not effected. Each compartment has a separate access door. Both the door and restraints are released immediately upon landing allowing the soldier to instantly engage in combat.

The internal blast walls, restraints, and life support can be removed to create a single large compartment inside the pod. This is used to drop supplies and ammunition into a hot zone. The doors on the pods can be closed, making them useful as cover. It is also possible to mount heavy repeaters to the inside of the pod doors and the life support replaced with the repeater's power generator, so that upon opening each compartment can be used as a fire hole. With all four manned, a single such equipped pod would have a 360 degree field of defensive fire with the blast walls inside protecting the gunners from the sides and rear.

Before reuse a pod must be recovered, and components such as the pod's low energy ray heat shield replaced. If the pod was to badly damaged, the pods are often scrapped and replaced given the cost of repair.

  • It's a WH40K drop pod. They like to sue people who use their images. Please change the image.
  • I really like the modularity options with the ability to change it into a supply drop or a fortified MG(repeater) position. That said, having both a shield generator AND emp hardening is a little excessive with all the other electrical systems you've got onboard it would be heavily taxed. And expensive. Pick one, or change it to minor produced.
  • Otherwise, this looks good.

You have no idea how hard it is to find images not from 40k or Halo for drop pods. I've made the changes you asked for here, the other pod will probably take me a bit.

I understand, but I don't make or change the rules. Thank you! Looks good.
