To twists and corrupt

Malachor V, Abyss Academy

The wounds from the battle of Ossus weren't even fully healed yet, but Darth Abyss had already risen from the bacta tank, pushed by the defeat he experienced by the hands of a jedi artisan that had beat him with all the things she had with her. His own interest was more in finding than creating artifacts, but the last time he suffered such a crippling defeat he did the same. Back then he created a knife formed out of cortosis to make up for his lack of proficiency with the saber. This time it would be a bit more redefined, a tool that would be far more complex to create, but also a lot more powerful.

The light could do many things if imbued into a object. But the light could always be twisted, corrupted by the darkness, and if he forged a object that could channel exactly this, the no one could use an artifact creations against him again. A crafter that couldn't draw from his creations could not stand against him that way, and would simply be crushed by the might of the sith lord.

On the table in front of him the books slowly began to pile up, as he study through the collected knowledge regarding alchemy, magic and crafting, all field he never really focused on, or had been particularly interested in. His ability to sense relics of the past brought him all the objects he could need until now, but the more he read, the more he became fascinated with the topic, especially the use of runes to control and channel the effect of an object. His acolyte brother Darth Lykos probably could have told him all learned in a heartbeat, but the assassins wasn't around to ask.

The more he read, the more he understood. The runes had to be placed in a particular order, hexagonally, or their effects would be greatly diminished. Using the explanations of the different runes in the book besides him, he began to scribble on a piece of paper in front of him, planning what runes he should use and where to place them. Picking the right ones was a tricky task, as their effects were described rather broad. The real direction came from the creation itself, the runes only marked the way the power would take. After playing around for a few hours, he settled on a set up, containing the runes for physical shaping, extraction, and cover and runes that helped direct and strength the spell.

While he now understood how to inflict the power into a object, he still needed an item that could actually be used to create such an object. The fact that he was many things, but definitely no craftsman was a problem, but not one credits couldn't solve, like so many things in this galaxy. He just hit up a few old black market contacts, vendors of rare, and sometimes forbidden artifacts, like Abyss father had been. Most had nothing that could work as a body for his project, but one had recently acquired a amulet that had once belonged to a jedi. It was nothing overly special, but it would serve well for what he had planned for it.

"Not usually your style right?"

The Zabrak gave the sith lord a quick laugh, as he passed the amulet over the table over to Abyss. The man could keep his professionalism, but Abyss could feel how uncomfortable he was in his presence. Not that he had a reason to, Abyss wasn't know for tricking the people he made bushiness with, seeing the worth in his black market contacts.

"This should be enough, and something extra for how quick you got here. A pleasure doing bushiness with you."

The man gave him a surprised look before taking the credits in his hands with a wide smile. He had just done the deal of his lifetime, selling a fairly standard object for a far less standard price.

The white amulet rested on a stone plate, which was surrounded by other plates, placed hexagonally around it, runes carved into each of them. The amulet would be used not only to hold to magic, but also as an experiment if his placement of runes had been right and would work the way he had attempted to. Sitting in a meditative stance right below the runes, he began to repeat the incantation over and over, slowly summoning the power of the runes and channeling them into the old jedi relic.

"Lyteti nuyak kanasaza, mazo irus darytis jen'. Kots avitsu tave itsu iv sis visuom, fasona akmuo ir macij nuyak xarnait."

The words, translated in the old tongue meant the following: "Feel my wrath, so light becomes dark. Break apart the chains of this world, make stone and metal my servant."

Infusing his power into the amulet to corrupt it was a far more draining endeavor than Abyss had initially thought. He had already spend three days in mediation, and slowly his body was hungering for rest, for food and water, but if he stopped now all his work would be for nothing. The first cracks had already formed in white howlite the amulet had been forged from, and he could feel how the darkness slowly began to drip into it through them. He was close, he just had to keep his focus for a bit longer.

At the morning of the forth day, Abyss could finally feel as the darkness broke through, and took hold of the cold stone. He opened his eyes, to see the amulet that had turned from white to black resting on the broken ritual plate. The other rune plates also had broke apart. Nothing that surprised him, as his studies told him that only runes forged in blood would be permanent. Just another step of the creation.

Now the real creation began. With a fine tool he began to copy the runes he used onto the now black stone, making sure that each of them was placed exactly as before and was formed right. Any small mistake would stop the item from working and he couldn't allow that. Exactly like corrupting the amulet, carving it was a draining task, forcing him to use all his focus and energy on doing it just right. The fact that he had to hammer in the runes with no room to go left or right made it particularly hard.

After a few hours he was finished, placing the black charm on the table in front of him, observing his carvings from all angles. He was no expert, but to him it seemed like he had succeeded, and created an object exactly like he had envisioned it. At least from a visual perspective. The next step would be to infuse the stone with blood, blood that had been alchemiesed to keep the stone together when the power of a dark lord began to flow through it.

The man offered no resistance. Why should he? For quite a while the mindeater had lived in his head, and there was no order he could object as soon as the so called "Prophet of the Darkness" gave it to him. Not even if it meant to die without even raising his hand once. The amulet rested on the ground in front of Abyss the man stood behind it, with eyes empty and dead due to the lack of any real personality left after what had been done to him.

With a quick cut, Abyss slit the mans throat open, letting the blood drip down on the amulet, while he again repeated the incantation.

"Lyteti nuyak kanasaza, mazo irus darytis jen'. Kots avitsu tave itsu iv sis visuom, fasona akmuo ir macij nuyak xarnait."

He could feel how the power etched itself into the stone as the red blood began to flow over it.

With the amulet now finished, the test phase begun. It had worked on the amulet itself, but if its powers could match that of the day long ritual he used to create it was questionable, and he would rather test it before using it in a fight just to realize that he had a worthless piece of stone with him. On a a table in front of him a old jedi blade was placed, nothing much done to it beyond the power to block lightsabers. A dark acolyte stood behind it, his yellow blade hovering over it, waiting to smash through it.

His eyes focused on the jedi weapon, Darth Abyss began to repeat the words he had used quite a few time in the last days, every time he worked on his artifact. The power was undeniable as he channeled his own darkness through the runes and words, feeling as the energy moved through the black stone and from there into the the metal. He have the acolyte a quick nod, and then the yellow blade feel, burning through the iron like the jedi weapon was nothing but a common blade as any other.

But breaking jedi metal wasn't all the charm had to do. It had to be a force of corruption to be truly powerful. Again a artifact was placed on the table in front of him, by the same acolyte who had just cut through the jedi blade. This time it was a simple amulet, a healing talisman, that would slightly hurt all darksiders who touched it. The corrupted version of healing was the ability to drain live, so Abyss had no doubts what would happen as soon as the acolyte would touch the amulet, but there was no reason to tell him. He had to learn that trust was weakness, like any darksider before him.

This time it took longer for Abyss to take hold of the object, the power flowing through it stronger than that of the blade. Still after repeating the spell a few times he could feel how his darkness lingered of the relic, twisting the energy inside of it into a changed, harmful and dangerous form. The second the acolyte touched the charm, he jumped back, shaking his hand in pain. He could see the amulet glow for a second as the live force was sucked into it.

One last test, to see how the amulet would work in a high stress scenario. Until now he had been satisfied with it, but combat was a completely different type of situation than a test run in the depths of his academy. Three acolytes had taken place in front of him, their blades glowing in a kinds of colors, waiting for him to give the signal. A simple nod was all, as they began their way towards him, blades raised to strike down on him. With ease he pushed the first of his feet with the force, the second got a punch in his face before his blade could even reach the lord of the sith.

The last one had been smarter, his yellow saber still glowing a few steps away from Abyss. Now was the time to see the full extend of his new weapon. Around the neck of the man was a jedi chain, that allowed for faster reflexes and augmented eyesight, and it was rather neutral in its alignment so it could be used by sith and jedi like. Repeating the incantation a last time, he felt the power of the chain twist through his hands, slowing down the acolytes reflexes, and blurring his vision. Using the moment of suspires this effect gave him, Abyss released a short burst of blue lightning at him and watched as the man was to slow to block the attack with his saber. With a satisfied grin he turned around from the man who had fallen to his knees, smoke emitting from his body.
