Pari had never seen so many buildings in her life. The city stretched endlessly in every direction, a tangled sprawl of towers, bridges, and lights, like an ant colony that had burst free from the earth and climbed toward the stars. It was beautiful in its own way, a marvel of civilization and ingenuity, but it felt cold compared to the lush greenery she had always known. No rustling leaves. No birdsong. Just metal, glass, and the endless hum of machinery. The public shuttle touched down with barely a whisper, and Pari descended the ramp alongside the other passengers. She paused at the edge of the spaceport, eyes wide, heart racing. She just stood there, trying to take it all in.

Then a flying droid whirred past her face, nearly clipping her shoulder.

"Watch it!" she blurted out, startled.

The droid didn't even pause. "Apologies," it chirped over its shoulder before disappearing into the crowd. The city hit her all at once, sound, motion, chaos. Speeders zipped overhead, voices echoed off the duracrete, alien languages mingled with the roar of street vendors and transports. People, animals, and droids surged in every direction, each chasing their own path through the crowded metropolis. Pari took a cautious breath and began walking, her eyes finding a glowing neon sign: Public Transport – Local Routes. She made her way toward it, careful not to get swept up in the tide of pedestrians. She just needed to get to the Jedi Temple. That was her anchor in all this noise.

She knew the New Jedi Order didn't call Coruscant home anymore, their headquarters had moved long ago, but the Jedi Archives here were still among the most extensive in the galaxy. After her conversation with the old woman back on Naboo, Pari had become obsessed with learning more about lightsaber construction. She hoped the Archives would hold the answers. A short ride later, she stood at the base of the Jedi Temple, her eyes drawn upward, mouth slightly open in awe. The structure rose like a monument from another eram, calm, dignified, and enduring. A silent promise of knowledge and peace amid the chaos of the city.

Pari smiled, her nerves settling just a little.

This… this was why she had come.

Valery stood at the top of the Temple stairs, arms folded lightly in front of her as she watched the steady stream of beings pass through below. The city never really slept, and neither did the thrum of the Force that pulsed through this old place. It wasn't the heart of the Jedi Order anymore, but it still remembered what it once was.

Her gaze sharpened slightly when she felt it. A shift in the Force's current. Someone new. Young, full of purpose, and just a little overwhelmed, had arrived. Valery let her eyes follow that thread until they landed on the girl slowly approaching from the walkway. She didn't call out. Instead, she waited until their eyes met, then offered a warm, reassuring smile.

"You felt it too, didn't you?" Valery said, her voice calm and even as she nodded toward the towering Temple behind her. "That pull to come here."

She paused a moment, letting the city noise drift past them.

"You're not the first to find your way to these steps looking for answers. And you won't be the last."

Her smile deepened.

"I'm Valery Noble. Why don't you come inside?"

Pari was pleasantly surprised to see a friendly face. Even from here she could feel the power radiated off the woman on the steps. This woman must be a Jedi! Nothing about her seemed evil or Sith like. Her presence was strangely comforting to the young girl.

"Hello. Thank you."

She bowed her head at the woman and together they walked inside the Temple. Pari couldn't believe its grandeur. This had been the hub of the Jedi for centuries. So much history flowed through these walls.

"It is nice to meet you Valery Noble. My name is Pari Sylune. I came to seek information in the old Jedi archives." She wasn't sure why she was sharing this with the woman, but something about Valery just screamed you could trust her.

"Are you a Jedi?"

Valery walked alongside the girl through the Temple's entrance. The interior was quieter than the world outside, steeped in echoes of the past and the gentle current of the Force that threaded through every hall. She let Pari take it in for a moment before answering with a faint smile.

"I am," she said, her tone soft but clear. "Valery Noble, Jedi Grandmaster." She glanced over with a touch of humor in her eyes, though the warmth in her voice remained sincere.
"But around here, I try not to let the title get in the way of a conversation." As they reached the main corridor, Valery gestured down one of the side halls toward the familiar path that led to the archives.

"You're welcome to use the records. The archives may not be what they once were before we left for Tython, but they still hold a great deal of history and knowledge."

She looked at Pari again, her expression thoughtful now.

"What are you hoping to find, Pari?" she asked gently. "Something about the Jedi? Or something more personal?"

A Jedi Grandmaster? Wow! Pari couldn't help but let her mouth fall in a comical "o" as Valery admitted to the title. The girl quickly closed her mouth and blushed, but Valery seemed understanding, stating that the title should not get in the way of a conversation.

"Thank you Grandmaster. I am only a Jedi youngling just yet. The Chalactan Adepts brought me to Naboo and they left me in the care of the Jedi there. I hope to see every place the Jedi study, including Tython." It was her own pilgrimage and path to truly understand all the different aspects of being a Jedi.

"Today though, I want to figure out how to build a lightsaber." She pulled a necklace out from under her robes and showed it to the Grandmaster. It contained a lightsaber crystal.

"This is all I have from my parents. I never knew them. But I was told I could use this to build the weapon of a Jedi."
