Intent: To submit something that got RP’d ages ago that actually makes sense about how Bacta still exists even though the planet that makes it got torched

STANDARD FEATURES
The Thyferra-class Herdship contains comparable analogs to all the systems usually found on a ship of its class and size produced by other corporations, and the ability to update its hardware and software to match evolving technological standards and regulations.

ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • Bacta Production: Ithorian Terraformers, combined with Vratix ecologists, came together to recreate the Thyferran ecosystem, the only one in the galaxy that is able to produce bacta. Using Ithorians knowledge of terraforming and how to create and maintain ecosystems, they were able to recreate Thyferra in small pieces. The resources needed to properly grow the plants, bacteria, and for the Verachen to mix the compounds are all replicated upon the Thyferra with incredible accuracy. Upon these ships, Vratix are able to produce Bacta in limited quantities within the biological dome at the top of the ship. They have found that natural sunlight is required for the process, but can be refracted from the ship’s hull lenses to the desired effect, but cannot use artificial sunlight.
Strengths:
  • Medicine Man: The Thyferra-class Herdship is able to produce the Galaxy’s most potent medicine in limited quantities.
Weaknesses:
  • Unarmed: Ithorian SkyYards refused to participate if the ship’s were armed in anyway, even ion defense turrets, and so, it has no weapons as it would be impossible to produce the ship without them.
  • Cumbersome: The herdship is a poor handler, purpose built as a non-combat vessel designed mainly to power an ecosystem, not possess excellent maneuvering thrusters.
DESCRIPTION
Prior to the burning of Thyferra, the Royal House of Alderaan and the Mandalorian Clans under Ra Vizsla organized a meeting between the Ithorian Shepherds and the Vratix of the Zaltin Corporation in the hopes of recreating the world’s ecosystem that allowed bacta to be produced in the first place. They were able to broker an arrangement between the two organizations which lead to a lengthy development process.

The Ithorian SkyYards representatives were able to recreate a suitable home for the Vratix, the beings that actually produce one of the components of bacta and oversee the combining of the substances that closely resembled their home planet only months before Thyferra was burned. Unlike the magical world Verohttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/121793-vero/, which is able to somehow produce bacta without any of the key components and without having a population of Vratix to make the key components, the Herdship’s biodome situated atop the structure simply mirror the Thyferran ecosystem as closely as science could come so that it could be populated by Zaltin Corporation aligned Verachen.

The Biodome is where the majority of the Vratix reside, roughly four thousand of the insectoid creatures. The Ithorians that tend the ecosystem maintain it as precisely as possible using soil and water harvested from the planet before the burning. Inside the dome, it is a balanced ecological system, much like a bottle garden, able to maintain itself without needing to be supplemented or added to. Most of what the vratix that produce the Kavamhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Kavam consume is grown within the dome itself for them to keep their digestive process in line. Light from nearby stars is refracted through one way mirrored lenses to match light and solar radiation produced by Polith. The station dims to simulate night on the same 21.3 hour daily schedule and maintains the same seasonal changes as the planet had across 479 local days, even producing weather patterns and storms as necessary which are only kept as safe as absolutely necessary rather than artificially controlling the weather systems.

Beneath the dorsal dome is the colony spire, where most of the dormitories for crewmen and scientists are found as well as large cargo bays. The spire is a living space for the non-vratix passengers and crew as well as possessing most of the required engineering space for the terraforming project, fuel for the engines and reactors, the molecular furnace and solid fuel converter within the bowels of the ship, and its other technological systems. The furnace and converter oversee the production of anything the biodome might require, but is usually simple used to help replace fuel reserves with the ship’s waste.

Arranged on eight spokes around the central spire are eight modules, usually used for medical centers, processing plants to package the bacta, and science laboratories which are used to monitor the progression of the artificial ecosystem and experiment with replicating new ones. Sometimes other experiments are undertaken within these labs as the ships are equipped with the best technology Zaltin was able to provide before much of its holdings were destroyed. Even with these stations the production of Bacta the planet itself was able to produce and store is astronomically greater, however the Thyferra-class herdship does provide the substance in limited quantities when it would otherwise be nearly impossible.
