Rationale: Thurin Corp. was founded by Nicodemus Thaal shortly after his return to Bendali. Most of Thurin Corporations laboratories and facilities were pre-existing parts of Nicodemus' father's company that had gone into disrepair and disuse when the company had shut down, but were still technically owned by Nicodemus. Using a large amount of his inheritance from his father Nicodemus repaired the research labs that had been hardly used under his father's control, restoring them to adequate working standards. Thurin Corp. quickly began attempting to generate positive publicity for themselves, claiming that they intended to do as much as possible to make Bendali a better place and improve the lives of Bendalians. Of course, this is far from the main focus of the company, but good publicity never hurt.

Thurin Corp. has three fairly large labs currently under it's control: Two of which older buildings refurbished and updated with new technology for pharmaceutical developing and testing, and a third newly built lab for experimenting with genetic engineering and biological enhancements. This new lab is by far the largest of the three, and well equipped for the development of new technology. Secondly, Thurin Co. has a comparatively small pharmaceutical production plant, renovated and recycled much like Thurin Corp's other facilities, to produce it's product.
Though the new genetics lab is Nicodemus' main focus, the new company puts emphasis on it's pharmaceutical capabilities, supposedly intending to help make Bendali a better place. Promise of cheaper medicines and overall improving the quality of the average Bendalian's life has made the company quite popular with many people in Bendali, despite being a very new company. In reality of course, it's very likely that this is mostly just publicity.
Though publicly, Nicodemis claims that he intends to use the company to further Bendali and help it's people as much as possible, he is mainly only emphasizing the pharmaceutical sections of the company until it is large and profitable enough to focus more on genetic engineering and biological enhancements. And, of course, it dosen't hurt for the time being to have the positive publicity of being the company that will supposedly help millions of lives on Bendali.
