Virak Ip
Broken Soul
The planet of Sev Tok was one that was full of strife brought about by the ever-present and extremely common groundquakes that shook its surface with severe quakes nearly monthly. The strength of these quakes was such that even settlements distant from the fault lines of tectonic plates would suffer from the ground's fury. In the early days of the history of life settling upon Sev Tok, these constant quakes had served as a source of destruction, tearing down primitive settlements with such ease that it had first been thought that they were punishments bestowed upon sinners by the Gods themselves (thus creating a heavily religious and pious, planet-wide society), however, as technology had improved, the people of Sev Tok had managed to create a solution to the issue, building flat structures that were designed to dissipate the energy present within the quakes, building higher up in mountain regions and, eventually - shortly before space travel had been accessed - floating cities that were tethered to mountain peaks.
One such floating city was the Capital of the planet, Squamish, the city where the governments of all countries gathered to debate and create legislation, the central hub of Sev Tok and all of her might - humanitarian and naval in equal measure. There were very few civilian residents present within the city, its entire infrastructure being devoted to government and government alone meaning that what housing there was in the city, it was inhabited by either those that maintained the upkeep of the city, served as civil servants, those that maintained a high standard of living for all (cooks, cleaners etc) or those that had a position within government. In keeping with Squamish's focus on government, the layout of the city such that any residential building, from lower to upper class, were relegated to the outer stretched of the city with the large governmental building, one comprised of interconnected towers, towering above every other structure like a giant monolith planted dead center within the city.
Within one of the many towers that formed the governmental building, near the top of the spire, sunlight streamed in through thick glass to illuminate a well kept office, bookshelves stacked with datapads and physical books alike pushed off to one side with a desk sat center place. The odd potted-planet was scattered around the outer rim of the room, breaking the monotonous colour of the walls, with a few set up in between the settees carefully arranged around an oak table off to the left. Filling the right side of the office was a large holocommunicator and a display of swords, armour and a singular brass brazier that sat empty bare a few lengths of charcoal. Behind the desk, dressed in a pair of expensive looking leather trousers and nothing more, leaving his tattoo riddled torso bare to the world, was Virak Ip. As one of the Representatives of Sev Tok, his position being attached to the Commenori System Alliance, he held an important role within the government and, as such, a rather lavish office.
A knock at the door brought his attention away from the book that he had been reading as it slowly swung open to admit a human female - one young with dark hair and eyes. Lowering the book slightly, Virak didn't move from his reclined position, simply tilting his head to stare at his secretary, Kali Leran, from above the wire-rimmed pair of reading glasses that rested upon his features while cocking a hairless brow.
"I'm sorry to bother you, sir, but, Her Majesty Queen Kay has arrived and insisted on waiting for your permission to enter. Should I...?"
The book the Zabrak held snapped shut sharply as he sat up, setting his reading to one side as he pulled on that button down shirt that had been tossed against his desk. Tugging at the fabric as he slowly buttoned it up, hating the feeling of clothes on his skin but being loathe to greet Kay in an unmodest state of dress, he gestured sharply towards his Kali. "Yes, yes, send her through. Don't keep her waiting you daft cow."
Smirking at her employer upon recognising the signs that the usually stoic Zabrak was acting rather flustered and disregarding the lighthearted insult, Kali turned on her heel, shutting the door behind her, sealing off the sound of Virak bustling around the room to pull together the tea set he kept secreted away and that of a giant wolf raising from its slumber. Stepping into the foyer, she smiled gently at the waiting form of the Commonori Queen, sketching a quick bow. Privately she mused on the subconscious poise of the Queen, envying her while, in equal meassure, taking notes to employ while hunting for a partner. After all, if she was reading her employer's behaviour correctly it was certainly captivating behaviour worth imitating. Oh how she wished to be a fly on the wall for what would happen between Virak and the Queen, the things she could learn.
"If you'll follow me ma'am, Representative Ip will receive you now." Waiting for Kay to rise, Kali turned to lead her towards Virak's office, holding the door open as manners demanded once they reached it before making herself scarce as any good secretary would, leaving the two to have their meeting. Of course, she knew that said meeting was nothing more than an informal chat over tea, having sent the message inviting Kay herself.
