Intent: A low-profile neural implant, suitable for reporters, spies and explorers.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: iBorg
Model: iBorg Witness Neural Implant
Affiliation: Open market
Modularity: Programming and internals can be updated.
Production: Minor production
Material: Desh-terenthium, noted for its very high tensile-strength-to-weight ratio. Reflec, insulating the implant from casual scans but not more invasive, precise scans (such as from medical scanners or weapons scanner gates).
Description: The Witness is a low-profile neural implant intended to record and transmit sensory data. It can be removed with relatively minor surgery so far as neural implants go.
  • Variety of recording/replay modes for images seen and sounds heard.
  • Short-range comlink/datalink (30km range).
  • Can transmit through hardline jack when hooked up.
  • Masked from casual or remote scans.
  • Powerful internal firewalls and slicing countermeasures. Sufficient interference will automatically trip a hard break in the datalink's circuits, preventing all possibility of communication or slicing unless the user decides to reactivate the datalink.
  • EMP/ion damage will temporarily disable the implant, often causing data corruption or loss, but cause no cognitive/nerve impairment.
  • Waterproof.
