SPECIAL FEATURES

Extensive, detailed subject matter on the lightsaber styles Soresu, Niman, and Juyo, as well as the types of lightsabers they are best paired with and why

Strengths

Blessed: Blessed by The Light, the book neither ages or rots, and is immune to water, heat, and cryo, meaning it looks as though it were made yesterday.

Elders Knowledge: This manual contains truly shockingly precise insight into the three styles it covers, going over each in detail, using the metaphor of an ocean to describe their fluidity in combat and how they should be approached. It is also notable that its focus on these styles is for their application in the field, in uncontrolled situations, en masse or in personal duels, and does away with any movement or strategy that will not win the fight as quickly as possible, leading to a cut down, efficient style that in many cases, will never use anything but killing blows, or counter attacks that lead to instant killing blows, and goes out of its way to describe the types of lightsabers best utilized with these fighting techniques, and even covers a section blending these techniques into traditional sword fighting (Albeit sword fighting as practiced by Atrisian Culture). Environmental concerns in a duel are also covered, as well as a section covering the basic move set of every other lightsaber style, as well as multiple scenarios in which they are used. In short, the only way you could get more detailed knowledge would be to consult a holocron or a truly great master of saber combat, and even then some of what they would find in this book would shock them, because many of the secrets within here are secrets and protips even they have likely never been taught...or if they were, they never dared to pass it on. While a true lightsaber master has no need of such a book (many in fact would be greatly alarmed to know such a book is unsecured in a vault, somewhere) for someone not as experienced, or just starting out, finding such an work with such extensive knowledge is nothing short of unthinkable, and a secret to be very closely guarded.

Weaknesses

Acid: Acid burns through the book

Slug: Slug ammo would rip it apart

Not all encompassing: Though it covers other sections, its main focus are on the three lightsaber styles it reveals.

Doorstopper: While it does not cover everything, what it does cover as still made the book large enough to make lugging it around impractical

DESCRIPTION

The Way of The Turbulent Sea is an extremely rare fighting manual. Almost all known copies are hidden away in temples or have been lost to the ages...it would certainly never go up for display in a museum, as its knowledge is too dangerous to leave out in the open like that. Approaching lightsaber combat from the metaphor of navigating a turbulent sea, and observing the fluidity in each style it covers, the book slowly exposes the hidden ways they can be blended and connected to each other, or fought solely using one pure style, even covering the types of lightsabers each are best used with and how, as well as how to blend these techniques into modern swordfighting, in ways not normally taught outside of formal settings, under strictest secrecy. The Way of The Turbulent Sea is considered to have been written just after Juyo was formalized as a type of lightsaber combat, making it one of the oldest unsecured sources of knowledge on Lightsaber combat as well as one of the oldest sources on lightsaber fighting, period. It is also unmistakably Atrisian in its artwork, suggesting this work was originally composed by a native collection of masters of very great skill, and was likely composed for the purposes of formal codification. That no names have been uncovered in the authoring implies whoever did knew they were violating many Jedi Taboos commiting such volatile knowledge to paper instead of a holocron or apprentice. If an enemy were to read this, they would no doubt obtain great insight into Jedi fighting methods. Laertia obtained this insanely rare copy from Ursula Sandraven herself, and used it as a training reference for many years, which doubtlessly contributed to her extensive repertoire of lightsaber knowledge. Without the influence of this book, Laertia would have ended up only a quarter as deadly with the lightsaber as she is, and she valued it so highly, she copied every single sentence and artwork before passing the original to her new friend Matsu, a painstaking process that took days for Laertia to do, but feels that if anyone can be trusted, it is her.
