It wasn't a long leep to get from Jedha to Jakku. One sand world to another. He was beginning to think sand was the dominant material in the galaxy the way it dominated so many planets. After Yurb he hadn't really wanted to see any sand for a while, no offense to Ura, but then Barrien had found himself 9n Jedha, called to a meeting of minds that he had not expected, though he was very happy about. A return of a true Republic to the galaxy was always welcome. Long had it been since he had served the Galactic Republic. Its failure was legendary now, and no Republic since it had ever lasted as long. They all seemed doomed to fail.
But he had a good feeling about their fledgling version. Especially since they didn't have an eye for the core and the troubles of the place.
More importantly, he was pleased with the role the Jedi would have. Not soldiers, but in their old role as peacekeepers and advisors. It had always been a downfall of governments to have the Jedi serve as soldiers. Not only a drain on them but it quickly destroyed the Jedi involved as well. Combat was a breeding ground for hatred and anger. Many Jedi had fallen because they had served in the role of soldier rather than in the role of guardian. Their Republic was going to help keep thst from happening and rely on Jedi being true to what they were.
But if the High Republic was to grow, they needed to expand their territory to worlds that could offer resources for them. Jakku was one such world. Many might not see it that way, since it was largely a planet of scavengers and desert rats, but the Republic also saw it as a mining world rich in crashed ships that could be salvaged and repurposed. There was also a good amount of people living on the world that would be quite sympathetic to their cause, even if only so towarss the Jedi. It was the right move to approach the world investigatively at first. They would talk with the locals before proposing they become a member of the Republic.
Barrien was on a ship destined for the village of Tuanul. He had heard that the people there still harbored religious feelings for the Church of the Force, and held great respect for the Jedi. It was a good place for those like him to start. Though Niima Outpost provided the largest chance for a disturbance, he trusted those going there to be able to handle it, and he wanted some peace for once. After all, he was only just recovered from the events of Yurb. It was best not to take risks.
Objectives:
1. Speak to the people of Tuanul to ascertain their willingness to join the Republic.
2. Visit Niima Outpost and confer with the militia there.
3. Visit the mining facilities and see if we can outbid their current delivery contract.
4. BYOO: Do whatever you wish!
