The thrill of the hunt.

Nar Shadaa.

Vengeance loved the Smuggler's moon. It was his second favorite place in the Galaxy next to Dagobah. He wandered the back alleys whistlign a cheerful tune. At least until he felt a presence nearby. He then dropped in silence closing his eyes for a moment before the Force Sight kicked in. Once it did he smiled seeing a form up ahead slowly stalking. What he or she was stalking he had no idea but it was not boring so he made his way closer.

His foot steps were soft as he navigated the back alleyways. It didn't take long for him to catch a glimpse at the intended victim. This only piqued his interest even more.

It was very typical to track assassination targets to Nar Shadaa, and even more typical that they would be drunk when she found them. Azalyn certainly hoped that would be the case, although she could certainly manage him without alcohol to aid her. Once she spotted her target it was obviously clear that he was not drunk, but also not very well armed - clearly he was unaware that somebody had placed one hundred thousand credits on his life.

Mentally calculating the difficulty, Azalyn decided to leave her weapons where they were and sprinted soundlessly towards the man before wrapping one arm around his throat and pressing at the side of his neck. He fell to the ground, unconcious - it was less fun when they were unconscious but also less likely to be overheard. Once he was knocked out she stood on his throat. That had been quick and clean and she could look forward to a nice salary once she got back to Coruscant.

Suddenly she sensed something - there was somebody there. Her recently discovered Force powers were incapable of telling her anything other than alerting her to a presence, but that was all she needed to know. She spun on her heel, drawing her pistol, and found her target.

"What did you see?"

Vengeance chuckled reaching out a hand and pulling with the Force to yank the blaster from her hand and in to his. In the same moment returning to using his own eyes to see her.

"I saw enough.......not really hard to do when the Force allows you to see through walls."

He paused with a chuckle.

"You do realize there are much easier ways to accomplish the mission."

He held out a free hand lifting the body off the ground with the Force holding it there. After a minute he closed his fist as a crunching sound could be heard as the target's bones snapped all at once. The body slumping to the ground with a dull thud.

"If I could do that, I would," Azalyn frowned, looking at the shattered body of her target. "I thought only Sith could do that."

Then she noticed the blaster in his hand.

"Well, that's rude. I do know how to do this."

She pulled the blaster back and held it tightly. If this man was as powerful as he appeared to be, then he probably knew that that was her only trick. Azalyn couldn't wait to have full control of her powers.

"Now, since neither of us has a quarrel with the other, nobody will know what just happened. Clear?"

It was a dangerous move, negotiating with a Sith, but she couldn't really see another option.

Vengeance chuckled it turning into a full laugh. He let her pull the blaster back just so he could focus on the blaster itself to crush it in her hands.

"Only a Sith could do it?" "And what exactly do I look like to you?"

He was after all wearing dark robes most commonly referred to as Sith Robes.

"I care nothing for your target and his fate." "You however interest me greatly."

He paused with a smirk.

"As a matter of fact............did you need him alive?" "If so I would be glad to match the bounty to compensate you for the loss of credits."

He tilted his head to the side looking at her.

"How would you like to learn how to do that and more?"

[member="Azalyn Falconer"]

The man's arrogance was infuriating, but at the same time reminded her of her own. Am I really that bad? No, of course not.

"Do you really think I'd have killed him if I needed him alive?" she asked him, trying to keep the irritation out of her voice. "I tend to interest quite a lot of people. That happens in my profession, believe it or not. However, there's not much I couldn't do with your powers, so please carry on."
Plenty of people were powerful, but none more than a Sith and clearly he was at the top of Sith rankings. He may have just crushed an expensive blaster, but power was everything in the black market and she could put up with him if it meant learning his powers.

[member="Vengeance"]

Vengeance smirked.

"I am sure a female assassin of any skill holds the interest of a great deal of people."

He lowered his hood before leaning against the wall.

"The question you need to ask yourself is why run half way across the Galaxy for a single kill.....................when you could kill hundreds in a single day?"

He paused.

"Why chase low credit bounties when you could conquers planets and earn millions?" "Like being Sith being an Assassin is not a profession............it is a calling.....a way of life."

[member="Azalyn Falconer"]

"I don't need to ask myself any questions. I chose my career unaware that I was a Force-wielder, and I'm choosing it again now that I know, only I want to be able to do it better. What need do I have of planets? I'm alone. One planet is even too much for me - I live on my ship. What need do I have of millions? That amount of money is for people with something to spend it on other than themselves, like a company or a family, and I have neither. The only reason I want to become a Sith is because my goal is power. Not power across the planets, just along the black market."

He clearly wasn't going to give up until she'd agreed to training under him. That she didn't mind - she needed to learn to use her powers. What she did mind was his determination to have her questioning her career. From one point of view, she didn't choose the career but from another - from hers - she had. When she ran away she could've gone anywhere, but she chose to turn to the black market. That choice had set off the last fourteen years of her life and she wasn't going to have some Sith she barely knew making her question that.

He smiled.

"Family is the purpose." "It is not enough to be Sith that wants power." "In doing so you make yourself a target for all Sith." "Each and everyone wanting what you have." "The Power you have."

He shook his head.

"The Black Market is only a single planet." "It's influence begins and ends there."

He moved closer to her.

"What I offer is a place in an Empire, an Empire that spans multiple planets and maybe even the entire Galaxy some day." "All you have to do is kneel and pledge your life to that Empire and me as your Master." "Once your training is complete only then will you be Sith and then forge your own destiny in whatever manner you see fit."

[member="Azalyn Falconer"]

"Just a quick thing; the black market isn't a planet. I don't care where its influence ends, because my life doesn't go any further than that. Oh, and another; there are plenty of Sith assassins. But yes, I will pledge to the Empire and I will pledge to you. Because I want to."

She knew she could have found somebody else, but something about the man was intriguing. The power was another thing, but Azalyn wanted to know why her senses had run wild.

[member="Vengeance"]

He smirked

"Name one place you can get anything and everything on the Black Market but here?" "Nar Shadaa is the hub, the source or the destination of all Black Market items."

He looked at her.

"Being Sith is about freedom, it is about having a choice." "I teach you what I know and the only thing that is required in exchange is that you remain true to the pursuit of power and to the Empire." "To betray either one is to face death itself."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a datapad tossing it to her.

"Be there when you have concluded your current contracts." "Then you can meet the rest of the Empire and begin your training."

[member="Azalyn Falconer"]

"Balosar," she muttered, catching the datapad. "And I will."

She flew back to claim her bounty full of thoughts that she kept trying to push out of her mind. It was her only outstanding contract - she could sleep that night and then fly out to meet the Empire. That was exactly what she did. Forgoing her mask for once, letting her sharp, mistrustful features show, she pulled on a long black cloak and flew to the coordinates on the datapad the next morning full of anticipation.

He smiled watching her walk away. He never understood the fascination with being an Assassin. Still if she showed up it would be yet another potentially powerful Sith aligned with the vision Darth Vaildra had before his death. It was odd the man that never cared for titles or power would hold so much of both.

He turned to finish his leisurely stroll before he ultimately left to get back to his other work.
