Name: The Temple of Ice

Classification: Ruins of an Ancient Jedi Temple
Location: Rhen Var, to the west of the Watch's Citadel.
Affiliation: The Order of the Silver Jedi
Description: For more than a thousand years, the ruins were mistaken for a mountain or geological formation. Covered beneath 20,000 years of snow, ice, and permafrost, the exact exterior dimensions or facade of the temple structure are impossible to determine. An earthquake in 849 ABY triggered an avalanche, which revealed a part of one side of a structural ruin. The interior structure, not wholly intact, suggests that the central structure was a square keep or cubist spire, with attached dwellings or other structures radiating out from the central point. Surviving artwork inside the structure shows illustrations of Jedi craftsmen and artisans producing their craft with a variety of crystals. At least one crystal recovered from within the ruins was a Force Sensitive Nakfet crystal, suggesting that the Jedi of this commune may have solicited the aid and assistance of sentient crystals, such as Shards or Tsil, in their work. The exact nature of the temple is still subject to debate. Further study is required in order to delve further into the history of this Jedi Artisan commune.
History: After the avalanche revealed the existence of the ruins, Jedi Master [member="Matsu Ike"] led an exploratory team from the nearby Watch's Citadel, which included Jedi Knight [member="Théodred Heavenshield"] and his padawan, [member="Kiriko"]. Initial research indicated that the ruins dated back at least 20,000 years, placing the construction as taking place during the Great Manifest Era of the Galactic Republic -- and a mere 6,000 years after the founding of the Holy Order of Jedi Knights at Tython. Artifacts recovered from within the temple, along with mosaic illustrations found within the temple, suggests that these Jedi may have been artisans experimenting with sentient crystals in order to augment their creations through the Force. When Rhen Var suffered an atmospheric catastrophe, thousands of years ago, the location and existence of the temple was lost when the site was buried under meters of snow and ice.
Intent: To further develop the lore of Rhen Var, create a location for Jedi Researchers to explore/further develop, and generate some Chaos canon for the history of the Jedi Artisans or the nature the early Jedi civilization that forms the Legends backstory of the planet Rhen Var.
